The ability to import videos is a great idea; could either be done picture-in-picture with narration or in sequence. If picture-in-picture is out of the question perhaps a narrative audio track along with the imported video/audio would be do-able. For example, I have a video of last year's Spring Concert, where the 3rd grade class was on stage singing and a kid did something really funny, and it'd be great to speak while the imported video/audio was going, to alert viewers to the upcoming highlight. But maybe that's getting away from the intent of the application (I hope not! ). The option for an interview-type scenario is interesting. Sometimes you don't know what to say in a given situation ("Gee, I really should record something for my boys today, but I don't know what"), and a list of questions might give some ideas.

...the "Webcam Recording/Diary Utility" sounds like a great way for parents to make a video scrapbook of their kids as they are growing up...
I totally agree! I used to use iDailyDiary to note things my twin sons did so they could read it when they're older. How much cooler would it be for them to be able to SEE me record these things... hold up a picture they've drawn, see my facial expressions (if I don't break the camera ), hear the intonations of my voice... Awesome idea!

What is broken with Win7?
I keep getting a "Program is Non Responsive" error on both my 32bit Win7 notebook and 64bit Win7 desktop. I've tried an updated NIC driver (which seems to have solved the non-refreshing Windows Explorer phenomenon) but I generally get these "Program is Non Responsive" errors at least once or twice a day. It also happens with Outlook2010. I reboot my notebook daily, so I'm not sure what's up with that. I used to reboot the desktop weekly, but with Win7 sometimes after running for a couple of days I get the errors and must reboot to get work done (send email, search for documents, perform file/folder maintenance, etc).

I find myself agreeing with slowmaker and Carol - please don't do it. I agree that it would negatively impact how visitors view the site. The analogy of sticking your finger in a fan or shooting yourself in the foot are very good.
I also agree that having some merchandise available at a reasonable cost would be a good alternative source of revenue, while keeping some special merchandise set aside for special gifts and such.
So, in a word (or 6), please don't test the Google ads.

Not as such. But I was thinking of allowing you to apply a CSS style sheet to editor, which would get much the same effect. How does that sound?
I think that would probably work fine. Thanks for being flexible. I figured that asking you to port it to PalmOS would be asking a lot.

Nice work, CWuestefeld! I've been looking for a diary like this for a long time... ever since the one on my Palm PDA refused to work with my latest hardware. So frustrating to lose your info because of an inability to save data in a common format! Good idea and good job on implementing it. Can I make an observation or two? I just downloaded/installed version 1.0.3288. The navigational buttons for moving between entries are really close to the calendar buttons, and I clicked on one of the calendar navigational buttons by accident, after entering some things into an entry. When I went back to look later I realized that some info was missing, so I did a little test, typing in some numbers in this series: 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 (with no space after the 1) and the only thing which was saved was the data prior to 5, 4, 3 (with no space after the 3). It appears that the last 6 characters I type are lost if I click on a navigational button in the calendar itself without clicking on anything else first. Questions: Is it possible to relocate those Entry navigation buttons to the area immediately above the list of entries (or perhaps incorporate a Save button)? Also, is it possible to make the font style and size preferences permanent? Thanks a lot for all the work you did on your diary program. I don't suppose you might port it into a Palm OS-compatible application?
