OK tinjaw - let me feed my ravenous toddlers and I'll create a poll while they're burping contentedly to themselves and are held captive by Dora the Explorer...

 ;D

Dora's Fairytale Adventures is my kids favorite.

Hi, Are there any truly 100% effective explorer replacements- i.e. such that explorer never then appears in normal use?

I think the reviews should only look at programs that do not use the Windows API. Otherwise, you'll be looking at 'replacements' that are essentially Windows explorer in a new outfit.

Came across another interesting tool - ARen. Selected features:

- Undo functionality
- Real time preview
- MP3/ID3 renaming
- Image renaming
- Thumbnail view
- Supports both files and folders
- Several renaming methods
- Use multiple method at once

Here's a link to Flexible Renamer's English page. Looks like development ceased in 2003.

Those and text editors are like heroin...only slightly more addictive ;)

 Care to share your experience with DC readers?  :D

Well, you see... Hehe, thankfully it's just a  figure of speech :) If I were to rephrase it and use something I have personal experiences with, I could have said something like this instead; I've managed to quit smoking after well over 10 years with that unhealthy and highly addictive habit. Despite this, I could never ever imagine giving up any of my beloved file managers or text editors...It's ours, it is, and we wants it!

Now, that sounds better and convincing too.

How about TabbyFile? Has anyone heard of / tried it yet?

@kip

CPU usage shoots up to 100% when moving the mouse pointer. Otherwise, it's a cool apps. I would like it to have a magnifier capability as well and yeah let it save settings to an .ini file as suggested by lanux128.

Thanks System32.

Absolutely cool! You could zoom in/out with your mousewheel or clicking on the +/- sign.

Check out Smart Quote Organizer. See screenshot.

Note, this is not a recommendation as I haven't used this program.

Armando - are you primarily worried about Word Documents? If so, why not give WordToys a try? It's no longer developed/supported and I presume you won't be able to buy the full version but the freebie still gives you tabs in word.

I didn't know about WordToys... looks like a cool productivity addon. Here's why development stopped.

BTW, the latest version I could find is 2.1.

Again, you could achieve that with Samurize. See attachment.

OK, how about WinTabber and if that doesn't work, have a look at Notepad-X

Oh, Microsoft's Instant Viewer might do what you want... but it comes with Intellipoint software.
