Living Room / Re: The All New Kindle - ripoff!
« on: October 09, 2011, 07:20 AM »
kindle is the best e-book reader and wonderful investment for avid readers (holds up to 3500 books), The device is small and light. With kindle we can read many book only with one device. regularry, kindle have three choise, ie kindle wifi, kindle wifi + 3g and kindle DX.

Does it have a backlight? I hate to have a light on for my night reading sessions.

Just tried v8 (Beta), 9 (Aurora) and 10 (Nightly).

Haven't found a single broken addon with either of these updates.
This is very disconcerting... had to check the about box to make sure I was actually running the updated versions.

FIREFOX.. Y U NO BREAK??  :'(

"For those of us lucky enough to get to work with him, it's been an insanely great honor, I will miss Steve immensely." - Bill Gates.

Spoiler
All iDevices will automatically shut down now for a two minute silence in 3...2...1...

Sorry, couldn't help myself. :-[

Yes, it's surprising/amusing that an ISP in the US is giving you those speeds.

383
For me the punchline is in the location, rather than the speed!  ;D

384
We are planning a "10 things you may not know about Linkman" video.

Sounds interesting. Hope to learn a few new things.

I thought it would end up giving a ridiculous result - like anyone who's ever lifted a finger in creating anything I own... in the thousands.  But it gave me a 2 digit number. Made me pause...  :(

Luring kids with chocolate eh ?

The kids are already in the van. All doors are locked.  :)

Atleast they're selling it there. I had to buy my iPad at a premium from the grey market - (sans warranty!) Thankfully, I haven't had a single problem with it.

(because Steve Jobs is God and Apple makes magic.  :-* )

Isn't this some kind of obvious infringement? Can one just put up a site and just start hosting other people's intellectual property (software/music/whatever) without any sort of repercussion?

389
The smarter would be to do as others are, capitalize on being one of the few remaining download sites who has not sold out. Users appreciate that -- especially in a download site you are 'trusting' to get your software, and perhaps take recommendations from.

+1 - devs & users need to focus on promoting solid services like Softpedia which haven't sold out (yet, anyway.) It'd be nice to see sites like DC proactively endorse these services. Far more effective than complaining to deaf ears...

Read It Later v.2.1.3 works fine here. And FF7 does feel like more than a mere version bump, worth holding on to. v8 is going to break quite a few extensions though, if the beta I tested a while back is anything to go by.

There's also a Roboform update available now.

who'd love to have a Slayer tablet!

You-said-wood! Uhuhuh!

Softpedia still provides a clean mirror for downloads at this time.

+1 for Softpedia. I've favored them for a while now. They seem to have the most up-to-date changelogs too.

I've stopped downloading from Cnet. Ended up there a couple of times anyway because the download links from some authors' sites take you there. I'd rather they hosted their files with more respectable services... (Rapidshare or Hotfile.)  :)

393
Thx, I've fixed the original link too. That's an interesting license!  8)

394
Have you tried Wordweb? It has system-wide integration (look up a word from anywhere) but if you're looking to view synonyms inline, inside Word and replace with a selected word, it won't do that.

395
Don't know how I missed that... I probably tried to drag and drop to one of the other panes which don't support it and gave up on the idea. This makes things a lot simpler, thanks a bunch!  :)

[I've modified my original post.]

I'm using Linkman to manage small tools/utilities. Works great! :-*
[DC thread]

397
I've settled for this system, it works really well.

Clarification:
I suppose the keywords used in the comment field probably belong in d-uh 'keywords' field, I've been using the comment field for my urls so it's just bad form being carried forward. The search works just fine, though.

It's funny to imagine developer typing 1k lines of code on tablet and then compiling on ARM Processor for next 5-6 hours

 ;D

This reminded me of a documentary on meth I recently saw. There's a local equivalent in the Far East called Ya ba that's especially popular with guys who do mundane jobs like painting - the guys who did it could go on for days without a break. Guess all stimulants work the same way. I feel like the living dead in the morning till I've had a good shot of coffee.

Drunk posting - sure, why not?  :D

OT - Freaky meth video (NSFW)

If anyone here codes something while high on meth, I'd give a lot to run it!  ;D

There's a certain retro charm that older wordprocessors possess - the wordprocessor that always springs to mind is the one Peter Coyote used in Bitter Moon. I remember searching for it on the Intertubes, with little luck.
