Find And Run Robot / [Solved] FarrFox and custom bookmark location
« on: November 01, 2013, 09:24 AM »
Hello,

I am using Firefox Portable.  Where do I point FarrFox to for the custom bookmark location?

Thanks!

Solved

The answer is to export your bookmarks to an html file and then point FarrFox to this file.

Then it works great.

I found and installed this.

http://tcpmonitor.altervista.org/startupeye-monitor-registry-startup/

Going to give it a try for awhile.

I am tired of programs granting themselves privilege to load when I start-up Windows 7.  I use a program named Codestuff Starter that allowed me to see and disable anything I want from loading at start-up, but the problem is that these rogue programs keep re-adding themselves.  For example Java, Adobe, Microsoft, etc..   >:(

Is there a program that protects all start-up places, including the registry, from disrespectful companies presumptuously making changes to my property despite not asking for my permission?

Thank you in advance.

Mark

Thank you for sharing this.

I got a good laugh out of this, but here's what's cool.  If you asked this same, smart alec question to a live game master this is probably exactly how he would respond.

This just demonstrates the AI's ability to detect and respond to sarcasm in an appropriate way.

Thanks!

Hello,

I am the creator of RPGSolo.com. This is a site I work on in my spare time that assists people in enjoying solo role-playing adventures with a virtual game master. I have combined some of the top systems into a single interface that allows immersion, encourages creativity, and provides endless opportunity for adventure.

The interface is fully documented in the forum and allows you to save your game progress with an account.

Also in the forum check out examples of different ways people use the app and you will see how flexible the system is -- any genre, any time, any place.

I hope you enjoy it.

Here is the latest testimonial, "I love this website and this has been the most fun I've had with a solo rpg."

Post New Requests Here / IDEA: Port free-er
« on: September 17, 2012, 07:40 AM »
Hello,

I need a certain port free for an app I use.  However, when booting my PC,  Windows will, on occasion, decide to use the port I want and therefore my app generates errors saying it cannot access the port.

Therefore, what I would like is an app that would, upon execution, kill whatever program is using that port.

The way I currently do it is I launch the command prompt and type "netstat /ano" to see what program has taken the port.  Then I see what the program's PID is.  Then I run Sysinternal's Process Explorer and show the PID column and then kill that program.

I would really like to tell some app, "hey, kill whatever is using port 1080", and save me some step.

Can this be done?

Thanks!
Mark

Post New Requests Here / Re: IDEA: Application memory limiter
« on: March 02, 2012, 06:36 AM »
I am a software developer troubleshooting a large application that has a problem with a runaway memory leak.  I cannot always keep my eye on the memory usage and if I don't catch it when it starts to run it eats up my memory, hangs my computer, and I must do a hard reboot.

I don't have time to create this little app myself and I thought it would be simple for someone to make -- just loop through each running process and see if its memory usage is above the set limit.

In my case I know that if the executable hits one gig of working memory then it's running away and will soon consume all that's left.  If I could stop it at one gig it would make my life easier.

Chameleon Task Manager Pro costs money and I am looking for something that is free.

Thanks, though.

ProcessTamer is for the CPU and I am looking for something similar but for memory.

Thanks, though.

Minimum requirement: Prevent any application from using more than X amount of memory.
Bonus: Apply different limits to different applications.

When limit reached options:
1) Automatically close the application.
2) Freeze the application (if possible) and popup notification.
3) Do nothing but notify.
4) Pop up message box asking what to do.

Thanks

Thanks app103.  I've got it downloaded and am giving it a test drive.  I think it will do the job.

I appreciate the link.

Post New Requests Here / IDEA: Bookmarks on Windows 7 Explorer menu
« on: February 07, 2012, 07:49 AM »
Hello,

I am seeking a utility/add-in/hack that puts a dropdown menu in Windows 7 Explorer menu bar so that I can add bookmarks to it.  Also, when I click on one of the bookmarks it should open that folder in the current Explorer window--not a new one.

I should be able to order/sort the bookmarks, create separators, and folders similar to Firefox.

The Favorites and Libraries features currently built into Explorer is stupid in that I must first scroll to it.

I do not want to use an explorer replacement.  I have tried dozens and either they don't work the way I need them to work, or they do but they are buggy.  I use "Classic Shell" so the native Windows Explorer is fine now except for the lack of bookmarking.

Thank you in advance,
Mark

I was very excited with the replies and quickly tried both of them.

However, I'm sorry to say that neither one worked.

It seems that the programs are working for other so I don't know why I'm having a problem.

To test I do the following:
Open notepad, type some stuff, use arrow keys to move around, exit notepad without saving.

DoOver won't recognize the Ctrl-F12 key combination to stop recording.

QuickMacro did some other random stuff than what I recorded.

Any ideas as to why I'm having these problems?

Thanks!

Actually I've already been through that entire page and none of them work as I need.

Thanks though.

Greetings,

I want a macro recorder/player that works as follows:

-- It sits in the system tray.
-- When I do Ctrl-F12 (or some assignable key combo) it changes colors to let me know that it's recording.
-- It records all keyboard and mouse activity.
-- I do Ctrl-F12 and it stops recording.
-- I do Ctrl-F5 and it runs.
-- I do Ctrl-F5 and it runs again.
-- I do Ctrl-F5 and it runs again.
-- etc.
-- I do Ctrl-F12 and it records a new macro over the old one.

Note: I don't care if it saves the macro.  It's just for quick, repetitive stuff like adding the letters "abc" to the front of every line of text in notepad.

For example: I start the recorder, type "abc" once, arrow key to the front of the next line, stop the macro and do Ctrl-F5 for as many times as I need the text added to each line.

This would be great!  PSPad has something like it but I want this ability in all programs.

Thanks!

Unfinished Requests / IDEA: "Windows Task Manager" System Tray Fixer.
« on: October 31, 2005, 07:51 AM »
Sometimes when you minimize "Windows Task Manager", even though all the settings are correct, it will not go into the system tray.  The only way to resolve this is to reboot.

I think that it would be nice to have a utility that, when this problem occurs, causes it to appear in the system tray again.

Thanks!

Unfinished Requests / IDEA: Tabs for child windows of MDI programs
« on: October 14, 2005, 03:11 PM »
I would like a program that does this:

It keeps a list of programs that I enter into it
AND
when that program in the list runs
IF
it has MDI children
THEN
it will give each child window a tab to click on to select it.

Mostly I want this for Microsoft's SQL Query Analyzer.

Thanks!
