Hello!

At work the company offers public wifi after registration with your email. My question is, is it possible and easy for them to monitor, not the webpages visited (that's easy), but the text typed and submitted in webpages like dating websites and/or mobile apps, like Whisper, Chat apps, Dating apps, etc?

Living Room / How to check xlsx files for malicious macros or virus

Hello!

I got today a response from a job ad I applied and they sent me an xlsx file to test my Excel skills.

This sounds a bit dodgy to be honest and I am reluctant to open it. However, I scanned it with VirusTotal.com and no virus was found from all engines.

However, are these virus engines able to detect malicious stuff in a xlsx file, such as macros etc?

They also told me not to distribute the file because it's a 'test' so I cannot really upload it here.

Any advice?

When I open more than one Word documents, after I try to close one, it displays this:

Living Room / Extremely dissatisfied with Google Drive

Hello!

I have Google Drive on my Android phone. I had selected some files and chose to make them available offline. However, now after few months, they disappeared. Additionally, the option to make them available offline disappeared.

How can I make them available locally on my phone? I only see the option to download them, but it doesn't allow me to choose location!

Is there any other solution?

I scan text from scientific articles where the text is in columns and then I have to manually convert it into regular text (ie. newline occurs only in new paragraphs).

Living Room / How can I blank out my laptop camera?

Hello!

I have a video interview where I have to record myself via my laptop camera. (I can use my mobile phone camera too)

However I don't want to be seen during the recording. I cannot put something on the camera to block the light, because it will be obvious. Instead, I need to blank out my camera (with grey colour as when there is no signal) or something.

Any idea how to do that?

Living Room / Printer printing fuzzy

Hello!

I have a problem with my printer, it prints fuzzy. I was thinking that it's because it rests in an unstable surface, but even if I stabilize it, it stills print like that (doublis letters).

The printer is Canon MG6450 and I did both deep cleaning and realigning of the heads.

How do they absorb glucose from blood?
How does glucose convert into electronic signal?
How does the meter know the amount of blood to calculate the mg/dl?

Living Room / Android virus

Hello!

I have an android phone that probably has a virus. The symptom is that although I disable screen overlay for all apps (one by one), I still get messages that 'there is a screen overlay'.

Moreover, I tried to install via Google Play the AVG antivirus. The name of the app is not the same as it is in my other android phone, which made me suspicious. Then, I installed and run the AVG antivirus and it resulted that I have 4 viruses and when offered me to click to go to the website, and after clicking I got flooded with  messages that my SIM has been damaged etc.

Then I installed Kaspersky and it cannot run because of the screen overlay issue.

Is there a way to complete clean this phone?

Living Room / Looking for programming language

Hello!

My criterion to choose a programming language to dwell on is to be well documented and have easy ways to implement things (are they called libraries/interfaces??)

I don't want to have to write tons of code to do a simple thing and reinvent the wheel, I would rather download an extension or something and do it faster/easier.

Which programming language is the best in such terms?

When I bought my laptop, I installed some games to test Win8.1 (in pad mode) and I cannot seem to be able to uninstall them!
They are not in Control Panel and I cannot delete their folder! Any idea? That's so annoying!
