DonationCoder.com Software / Screenshot Captor / Microsoft Keyboard special keys trigger Screenshot Captor

Found an odd 'bug' - at least I think it's a bug Just installed SsC on a PC with a Microsoft Digital Media keyboard, which has some extra programmable hotkeys, and uses Intellitype Pro 5.5 (the latest version) to control them. Whenever I press one of the hotkeys, SsC clicks and captures the screen. The hotkey still works though. I'm not sure if it's an 'Entire Workspace' or 'Current Screen' capture as I only have 1 monitor. I don't think it's a hotkey thing - changing the hotkeys for either has no effect, and if I close SsC and run SnagIt with identical hotkeys SnagIt doesn't try to capture anything. Only a minor irritation - but an irritation nonetheless Any thoughts?

For e-mail templates that are "structured" (ordered) and somewhat "static", The Form Letter Machine utility is a much better solution. Go to mouser's zone here on DonationCoder and download it.
You can create a pull-down menu of structured trees (templates) from which to select from. You can also create a pull-down menu of symbolic variables from which automatic variable substitution within these static structures can be made. It's a much better solution for canned templates.
As Mouser also pointed out to me, you can include any XML/XHTML codes in your templates at well, so you can get quite fancy.
I'm using The Form Letter Machine for an events announcement list I moderate with very good success. Now I thought about going hog wild and setting up an RSS newsfeed for this announcements digest as well. That requires generating some XML and conditional assembly, in which case the Help & Manual application maybe better, but that's really an overkill in most cases.
Thanks for the comment superticker - yes, I'm planning on using FLM too. But I'd still appreciate submenus - out of sight, out of mind - until I need the clips

not a stupid question. if you are a supporting member (donate whatever amount you want), i'm always happy to make custom license keys which say whatever you want. it's a bit harder if you are not a supporting member because i'm not quite set up for it; it could be done though if need be. you can email me at mouser@donationcoder.comThanks for the hyperfast reply Mouser I've just donated - and I see the key uses my real name (presumably from the PayPal info) rather than the forum name - I'm happy to go with that so no need for a one-off key - unless other people want to use it, in which case I'll get the company to pay me to make a further donation.

Great I wasn't moaning - just suggesting a way to make it better Incidentally - something else Snagit does pretty well is its use of capture profiles: [attach=1] There are some predefined ones and you can easily set up your own - so you could have it capture an object, with the cursor, and save it as a specific filetype in a specific folder automatically, in monochrome at 50% scaling etc etc just be clicking the profile name, clicking capture, and clicking the object. The quick buttons on the right to turn cursor capture on & off and quickly set the capture settings are great too. You'll be thinking I like Snagit I do - it's great - if you're working on improving Screenshot Captor it's definitely the standard to aim at - steal from the best, as they say

do you mean that snagit properly jumps to the objects like the buttons when you move over them, or do you mean you can manually move a small box and position it exactly where you want it? is it clear what im asking?
Mouser, thanks for posting I mean Snagit properly jumps to the objects. So in this Quick Reply box for instance it can identify the bold, italic, ... bullet buttons as individual objects, or all of them together as a toolbar object; this text box, the Post and Preview buttons, this text box, the box to the left with the 'with a quick-reply ... ' text, just the 'with a quick reply ...' text itself, and so on. It's really good at detecting objects within objects, so for example there's the toolbar on this page with Forum Home, My Profile, etc buttons. It can select the whole toolbar as a single object, or the 'My Profile' button as a single object, or even the text 'My Profile' on the button as a single object. Impressive, eh ?

When I try to capture an object in (say) Firefox using Snagit 7, I can capture an individual icon: [attach=1] But in Screenshot Captor I can't get anywhere near as close: [attach=2] What am I doing wrong? If I can't capture individual objects this might be a showstopper for me Thanks

... add some options for letting user have submenus for their favorites and better display favorites separately from quickpaste so that you won't run out of places ... I wouldn't make it too fancy. Honestly, people don't want to see more than 26 items in their Quick Paste menu. What they need to do is define the Quick Paste SQL search so less than 26 are in there in the first place. Honestly, I didn't even realize you could do this until I read this thread. Now that I know how to limit (control) the items in Quick Paste, I can probably adjust the SQL search criteria for just the items I really need. Hi all Just discovered you today; I've downloaded this to evaluate and so far first impressions are VERY impressive. Congratulations. I'd love to see submenus - so I could have a submenu for email templates, then underneath that submenus for the various types of emails I send, with each template as a separate item. Then the clips would be out of the way unless I wanted them.
