77  Main Area and Open Discussion / General Software Discussion / Re: Firefox Extensions: Your favorite or most useful on: December 04, 2014, 04:35:39 PM
I have released a new version of OperaView (0.7) which works with Firefox 3.5.x

-this is one of those situations that makes me spin around myself, saying erhh, but... how is... ehh, but ... what is... ehh

@Sheirstles.
OperaView version 0.7 by Bartosz Piec has been on the market for approx. 5 years, all of the time as version 0.7. The text from year 2009 on both MozDev and Mozilla is saying what you even are repeating: "version 0.7 now works with Firefox 3.5". And yet, it was just updated - but is still listed as the same old version 0.7, dated 2009. How is that possible? __?__ Is it merely a necessary trick, maybe because of some annoying Mozilla rule, to update your fine application, as easy as possible?, or how come it still is version 0.7 from 2009?? -
And why the heck do you list Firefox version 3.5, but not any new version?

79  Main Area and Open Discussion / General Software Discussion / Re: ProcessTamer not self-starting on boot on: December 04, 2014, 02:52:07 AM
re-reading your first post here, it sounds as if it all could be merely a question of your settings. Maybe you should just re-do the Process Tamer settings ("start with Windows"), right-click the systray icon and make sure it says "enabled", and re-check Norton's settings for PT.

It really should work, also without the use of Task Scheduler.
80  Main Area and Open Discussion / General Software Discussion / Re: ProcessTamer not self-starting on boot on: December 03, 2014, 06:11:29 PM
I've just speed tested Process Tamer [PT] on a 32-bits Win 7.
After re-booting the laptop, PT was both starting and working as promised.

However, you might want to start a thread >here (over there)<, so mouser for certain will notice your questions.

Their $10 TaskLayout is also to be found via http://www.task-space.com/

TaskLayout is a small Windows utility which allows to save/restore the desktop layout(a set of specified apps/windows with corresponding positions on the screen) in just a few clicks.

WhiteSmoke works everywhere you type: in MS-Word, Outlook, web browsers and other text editing programs!

Be aware that while WhiteSmoke may help you to write, I don't think it can help you to read.

Be also aware that I am not endorsing WhiteSmoke wholehearted; their product is fine, but only rarely updated, and their pushy business moral seems to be in a grey area...
Also, the program is expensive.

Forget the Windows Store. Microsoft is working on a Linux-style package management framework for Windows, and it’s included with Windows 10. It’s being tested with Chocolatey’s existing packages, and allows you to easily install desktop applications and other software.

85  Main Area and Open Discussion / General Software Discussion / Re: Pros/Cons re Microsoft EMET (Enhanced Mitigation Experience Toolkit)? on: November 21, 2014, 04:47:42 PM
I had EMET 5 running for a week while I was testing AVG, BitDefender and MalwareBytes, but I didn't test EMET as such. When I went back to Outpost Security Suite Pro, I removed EMET because 1) it now was redundant and 2) because of the small but multiple annoyances.

For advanced users we have a beta version of CCleaner v5 available for you to download. (We don't recommend using this outside of test environments. This build includes just the interface change. The other features will be coming over the next week, with a final release build at the end of the month.

89  Main Area and Open Discussion / General Software Discussion / get facebook video, without more software on: November 17, 2014, 01:47:01 AM
I both laughed and cried when I saw this video on facebook.  I wanted to save it to my computer, but couldn't figure out how to do so!

So I had to search for an answer. Now having found that answer, I thought someone else might want to know about it too? So here is the extremely easy instruction:

Quote
in the browser's address line   on the video's "homepage":
Replace www with m
 ... load page ...
Right-click the video and click Save target as...

-it doesn't matter if the "m-page" looks weird.

I was amazed that this is all it takes. But it is.

Thanks to this video, which is telling a much longer version of the same story:

just a tiny info for users of IrfanView:

IrfanView is now offering a "third" and seperate plugin, named IrfanView Shell Extension

Quote
Special PlugIn: "IrfanView Shell Extension":

This PlugIn shows a Context menu for some IrfanView operations in Windows Explorer or other file managers. You can select several files and: Play slideshow, Load files in Thumbnails window, Start JPG Lossless Rotation or Convert images to another format.

Download via http://www.irfanview.com/plugins.htm

Regarding format converting: IrfanView's default quality setting for saving is 80%. You will need to go into File > Batch conversions... if you want to change this.

Did you try to simply re-install Replay?

I used to have Replay installed, and I don't remember it having anything to do with Windows Task Scheduler! If you have the neccessary license key to reinstall Replay, please allow me to encourage you to first install Revo Uninstaller Pro (30 days freee trial), and then use it to uninstall Replay.

http://www.revouninstaller.com/

Install Revo and when it is open, just 2x click Replay, and wait while Revo first is scanning.
=> it is then best to use Revo's setting "Advanced" (default is "Moderate").

Then re-install Replay, and the problem has hopefully left, without wrestling the Task Scheduler.  tellme

Installation
------------
Do NOT select "Get plugins to enhance calibre" as this is reserved for 'official' calibre plugins, instead select "Change calibre behavior" to go to Calibre's Preferences page.  Under "Advanced" click on the Plugins button. Use the "Load plugin from file" button to select the plugin's zip file (DeDRM_plugin.zip) and click the "Add" button. Click "Yes" in the the "Are you sure?" dialog. Click OK in the "Success" dialog.
