I'll look into this
Care to share your findings?

Haven't done the Quick Button edit screen for WinButtons yet, not sure if you (still) want/need it?
It would just be copying some parts of WinButtonEdit into a smaller window, and dragging over some of the code into the shared source-file. Wink

It would be interesting to know what was sitting there that blocked your friend Cathy from working as expected, but I guess we'll never know huh

And the key name also isn't very intuitive...

^Hm, was a bit afraid of that being a possible reason. NP.

If I'd have to do an alternative to Excel2Html, f.e. to create the above pledged tool, I'd probably write it in C# using the .NET runtime tongue

but I want non-java, as I do not have java
??? Sun/Oracle Java Runtime Environment (JRE), that Excel2Html requires as runtime framework, is free ($ 0,--), also on your side of the globe, AFAICS. undecided

507  Special User Sections / N.A.N.Y. 2013 / NANY 2013: Please post requests! on: October 13, 2012, 01:52:18 PM
All,

I'm trying to work up to a pledge for the NANY 2013, but am fresh out of idea's for projects.
Things are quite busy in my head, so I'm not expecting to have idle-time there for idea-mulling ohmy

That's why this request:

Please post request(s) here for an application/tool you need, and either don't have the time or the skills to create yourself (skills as in not being a coder).

The application/tool should adhere to the NANY rules, as in being 'New', etc., etc.

As this is a general request, for any potential pledger, I won't limit your ideas to any area, so just drop ideas here, and hopefully there's a coder that can take the challenge o pledge and release for this NANY 2013 installment.

For those interested:
I'd be happy to take a project that would span a couple of weeks worth of work, but of those weeks, only the evenings/nights are available, as I do have a daytime job (programming and programming-related).
I'm not into games development or graphics-work/web-design, that's just not my cup of tea.
I do code in Java, C#, AutoIt3, Delphi, and a few other languages, but that shouldn't limit your scope.
My nickname at work is 'Tim* the Toolman' Grin

508  DonationCoder.com Software / ProcessTamer / Re: PT doesn't change priority of a certain service by explicit rule on: October 13, 2012, 01:16:57 PM
Good questions.. I'm trying to remember if PT shows a balloon when changing priority according to explicit rule.. I'm not sure it does.

Yes, it does with all other rules I configured.
Sure you've got that explicit rule exactly right? If all others work, then why wouldn't this rule work, some silly typo maybe? (I have those all the time embarassed)
509  DonationCoder.com Software / ProcessTamer / Re: PT doesn't change priority of a certain service by explicit rule on: October 13, 2012, 11:45:20 AM
Strange enough the priority of this service can be changed by PT instantly in the processes tab of the PT configurator.
Does any body know help?
That's a fair warning (or reason) for any external priority changes not working. The tool most likely checks it's current process-priority setting, and resets it to the internally configured value.

in being able to run Cathy on x64 Win 7.
I can't. Even with compatibility mode on.
Got any specific AV or anti-spam software running? It might be interfering with Cathy.

It's working as expected, on my x64 Win7 system, but I'm running with UAC turned off embarassed, and have explicitly not installed into Program Files, ofcourse. The catalog is saved to disk, and after I close and re-open, it's still working thumbs up
513  Main Area and Open Discussion / General Software Discussion / Re: Portable alternative for Cathy (cataloging freeware) that runs on Win7 64 bit? on: October 12, 2012, 09:09:59 AM
Recently I switched to Windows 7 64-bit and found out Cathy doesn't run on it.
What's not working about Cathy, in your situation? 99.9% of 32 bit apps work flawlessly on x64 Windows systems, but I haven't checked the details, so it could be a 16 bit app, and that's definitely not going to work on x64.

Also, I'll need to take some time to see how exactly WinButtons work.
Yeah, I hear you. My manual-writing capabilities haven't been fully applied on this one yet... I have a quite technical readme included with WinButtons, describing for each option available on how to use it, but not why or what-for you'd want to use it. There are some small examples in there, but the best part for your use would be in the WinButtons.wbuc file (as downloaded from the site), that I used to take the screenshot from. You need to define and use variables to 'connect' to some input-control, and use one or more variables in the command that is set for a button.
Don't forget to enable the 'Show parameters section' checkbox, that's hiding in the 'Global parameters' tab of WinButtonEdit tellme
516  DonationCoder.com Software / Post New Requests Here / Re: IDEA: sort of launcher for command lines with parameter in a pre-defined place on: October 11, 2012, 05:36:47 AM
Telnet is only installed in a x64 incarnation on Windows x64, AFAICS, and it's only available in the \Windows\System32 directory for 64 bit processes, but not in the 32 bit \Windows\SysWOW64 redirection directory for 32 bit processes.
I haven't seen any easy solutions, other than copying telnet.exe over from System32 to the SysWOW64 directory.

Another alternative would be to use different terminal software, there are several available, and you are probably using one of them already Cool, as telnet is quite 'rudimentary' in features and looks.
517  DonationCoder.com Software / Finished Programs / Re: DONE: On Screen Button That Sends Keyboard Commands on: October 10, 2012, 10:27:16 AM
that assume you are using a single monitor setup
I'm still using the dual-monitor (from a single video card, NVidia GeForce GTS 250) setup I've been using ever you so generously sent me the MIMO. I updated to the latest DisplayLink drivers, a few weeks ago (and also a few months ago, with the previous major update). The initial flashing during/after boot is still there, but it works as expected, and flawlessly fwiw.
I recall your issues are caused by the dual-videocard setup, that isn't properly understood by the DisplayLink drivers, as they are in fact an alternative to a multi-videocard setup.
There are even a few standard-size monitors (22"/27", Full HD) that are just USB connected (and using DisplayLink technology).(Philips, Samsung), but these aren't in the league you require for your graphics work embarassed

I'm glad to see that you are still working on WinButtons
This was triggered by a feature request/coding snack, but it was fun to be pounding on the code again, after a year of silence (though I did a lot of other type & languages programming in the meantime) cheesy
I've been trying, a few times already, to re-do WinButtons in .NET/WPF, just to get acquainted with WPF, but I've not found the motivation to complete that yet, and there are a lot of bears on the road. Some things that are easy function-calls in AutoIt3, are quite daunting tasks in plain .NET C# code huh

I've released WinButtons 3.6.0 and WinButtonEdit 1.1.0 in this message, click through to the release message for a couple of screenshots, and the official downloadlink.
519  DonationCoder.com Software / Finished Programs / Re: DONE: On Screen Button That Sends Keyboard Commands on: October 09, 2012, 05:31:55 PM
After a year of silence in the development department of WinButtons, now there is another release for both WinButtons and WinButtonEdit.

A Coding Snack request by ConstanceJill in this thread prompted me to suggest WinButtons as a solution, but it was missing the feature of parameter entry.
That is now solved tellme
And WinButtonEdit is also updated to support these new features of WinButtons.

Some screenshots are added to the release message.

Here's an update release of:
and

Download available from the release message, linking to my DCMembers pages.

Updates can be downloaded also from the WinButtonEdit File/Check for updates option, using DCUpdater when installed.

A ToDo for a QuickEdit feature is noted but not available yet, that'll be the next thing I'll work on.

Any feedback or feature requests are still welcome, as usual smiley

Hm, WinButtons can do both the prompt and custom captions already...

I'm working on the readme and close to a release of WinButtons 3.6.0 (and a matching WinButtonEdit), not sure if I can make it tonight though, if not then tomorrow night. (I'm in the CET timezone)
521  DonationCoder.com Software / Skrommel's Software / Re: FindFocus on: October 08, 2012, 03:05:35 PM
- Mozilla Firefox.
Firefox is known to have 'un-fixed' it's Windows presentation ever since version 5. A lot of tools that manipulate application windows in some way are unable to work with Firefox since that version. Probably the Skrommel tools, built back in the Windows XP and (start of) Vista era, can't cope with these issues.

For most of Skrommel's tools the source is available, you could adjust it to your needs, but seeing that hardly anybody has done this previously, there hasn't been much need for it...
522  DonationCoder.com Software / Skrommel's Software / Re: FindFocus on: October 08, 2012, 01:16:05 PM
2 questions:
- What browser?

- Why are you resurrecting all these old, old, old, threads? Skrommel has left the building some years ago.

Sorry, as I said, haven't worked on it (or used it...) for ~10 years tellme

Right-click a button, choose 'Algemene instellingen...', in the first combobox select English and press the OK button.

For teasers, here's a screenshot:

[attachthumb=1]

A few notes:
- 7 types of input controls:
  - Textbox with history
  - Textbox no history
  - Combobox
  - Combobox with edit & history
  - Combobox with edit, no history
  - Checkbox with history
  - Checkbox no history
- All parameters are connected to a Variable, as can be configured using WinButtonEdit, and the variable is to be used like :varVarName: in the command defined.
- Checkboxes can be easily mapped to a checked/unchecked value
