501  DonationCoder.com Software / Coding Snacks / Re: Single click focus, double click bring to front on: November 04, 2012, 11:44:54 AM
Hm, still the same limitations imposed by Windows apply: A window that has focus is the top-most Window, unless other windows having the 'Always on top' attribute are covering it.

So, AFAICS, the only way of achieving your goal will be playing with that on-top attribute of all other windows covering the intended window. Hm, still sounds dodgy.
And I still don't understand the use-case either huh

(I think Katmouse can have problems on win7)
I've been using KatMouse on Win7 x64 for as long as I run that (3 years and a bit now), and I use 1 or 2 apps that have specific mouse-handling that don't like KatMouse, so I excluded them, but it works like a charm for the rest of the system & applications.
502  DonationCoder.com Software / Finished Programs / Re: DONE: Run At Specified Time on: November 02, 2012, 09:13:24 AM
I've checked with Google, but either it's not to be found, or I used the wrong search criteria, but I haven't found anything usable. ohmy

So I mocked up this small Delphi commandline tool: SleepTill.exe
- Version: 0.9.0
Usage:
SleepTill [date] [time] [/?]
[date] : Optional date in yyyy-mm-dd format, default: today
[time] : Optional time in hh:mm[:ss] format, if not supplied: 00:00
/? or -? : Show this helpmessage
Remarks:
- Either date or time, or both, should be provided to start the wait
- Date/time should be in the future to start the wait
- Pressing Ctrl-C stops the wait

Download attached zipped-up exe file removed because of update, below.

505  Main Area and Open Discussion / General Software Discussion / Re: record webinar on: October 31, 2012, 02:42:07 AM
Hm, thew few webinars I've been in had both an awkward login-procedure quite hard to automate, and didn;t have sound option, but for a (toll-free) dial-in number that I had to listen to from my mobile phone (like the rest of the company, having no wired telephone on my desk...)

Any web-capture software that allows/features to be scheduled, should be able to handle this task though, after you've skipped the initial rough-spots I mentioned above.
506  Main Area and Open Discussion / General Software Discussion / Re: overcome compatibility issues on: October 31, 2012, 02:28:56 AM
Windows XP 64 bit has been an ugly duckling since it's inception, and there have been very few (hardware)drivers available for it.
If you want a 64 bit Windows OS, go for Windows 7, or Windows 8 if you want/have to. Even Vista x64 was a small drama (I've used it for 2,5 years myself ohmy).
Only since the wide acceptance of Windows 7 x64, manufacturers have been supplying 64 bit drivers for it (yes, Vista x64 started it too, but to a lesser extend), but drivers are usually not back-ported to older OS versions. There's not enough market to gain.

You know about Serverdoc?  This is simpler than that, local not remote?
Correct, only for local applications, not remote processes, websites or other (web)services.

Just did a detailed update and added an image to the opening post review notes (now re version 5.8, as at 2012-10-30).
Maybe you should have updated the original message subject as well... huh

I do wish MS would fix that.
IIRC they did something in Win8 to fix that
515  Main Area and Open Discussion / General Software Discussion / Re: advanced paste program on: October 28, 2012, 06:12:52 AM
But I have never checked it out.
Quite easy to try, IMHO, but I must say I use it several times a week, and it hasn't failed me since Windows 95...
516  Main Area and Open Discussion / General Software Discussion / Re: advanced paste program on: October 28, 2012, 05:53:42 AM
I've never seen any other behavior than merging the 2 folders, if a folder with the same name already exists. It's more likely that the folder-attributes are taken from the added folder and set to the existing folder, but usually they're the same, so you won't notice a difference. After allowing the folder-'replace' copy, all files from both folders will be there, and you can confirm to overwrite any matching files, as usual.
This has been the default behavior since Windows 95 AFAIK. And probably before that too, but that's too long ago to remember Grin

You can locate the position of the text label that's usually on the left side of the input, and click a few pixels right of that? AHK or AutoIt can do that for you.
522  Main Area and Open Discussion / Living Room / Re: ArsTechnica hand-on review of Surface RT on: October 26, 2012, 09:29:37 AM
Are reviewers really not bothered by the closeness of WinRT?
Exactly the same limitation goes for all iPad models.
Or most Android tablets for that matter. Advantage of Android is that there are several variations (aka custom ROMs) available, but usually not when these tablets are introduced.

There are Android ROM's available for a few older Windows Mobile 6.x phones, so let's wait and see smiley

524  Main Area and Open Discussion / General Software Discussion / Re: Residents services and program testing on: October 25, 2012, 09:04:05 AM
That AutoStart is only going to work for Services, not stuff with an AutoRun feature, or shortcuts in the All Programs/Startup folder.

I'd be inclined to mock something up for this task, I said before I needed a N.A.N.Y. 2013 project Grin Thmbsup

Edit: I already thought I remembered that there was a Skrommel tool for that, and that's true: ReRun
525  Main Area and Open Discussion / Living Room / Re: Chrome broke and I can't fix it. Setting Chrome as default browser. on: October 24, 2012, 06:06:29 AM
In the IRC channel, ewemoa recommended that I uninstall Chrome so I could reinstall it to see if that would fix things.
Obviously ewemoa is a clever guy, and knows stuff that other people don't know Thmbsup tongue Grin
