501  News and Reviews / Mini-Reviews by Members / Re: xplorer¬≤, a powerful windows file manager and explorer replacement / alternative on: February 18, 2013, 01:51:12 AM
How do you feel about the current version of xplorer2 or do you find yourself using another file manager?
Still stuck at the 1.8.x level, as I don't feel like spending money for an update to get exactly the same functionality in the 2.x release. Angry
But I'll keep using it for as long as it's safe smiley
502 Software / Screenshot Captor / Re: Suggestion: Renaming file before coping to clipboard on: February 17, 2013, 12:08:31 PM
Check out the settings, there are at least a dozen of options for naming the file and even for not saving to disk.
503 Software / Post New Requests Here / Re: IDEA: super word counter on: February 17, 2013, 10:34:48 AM
What software do you use for your day to day writing?
504 Software / Screenshot Captor / Re: "Saving options dialog" and "Auto copy to clipboard when SSC looses focus" on: February 17, 2013, 06:17:47 AM
(At the moment even CTRL+C does not work all the time and one has to go to Edit menu to make a copy... strange...)
This feature is context-sensitive, if you have the cursor focused on the image (clicking there once helps), Ctrl-C copies it to the clipboard just fine. In other locations, the current selection is copied to the clipboard.
505 Software / Multi Photo Quotes / Re: Pictures shown twice or more at the same time on: February 16, 2013, 07:02:34 AM
is the download-link already updated?
Have you flushed your browser-cache? Most browsers don't re-download the same filename without adjusted cache-settings.
506 Software / Finished Programs / Re: DONE: Paste Something To Bottom Of All Text Files, Recursively on: February 15, 2013, 03:40:33 AM
Most likely you can fix that using (DC-member) stahlworks Swiss File Knife

508  Main Area and Open Discussion / Living Room / Re: proofreading on pc on: February 14, 2013, 01:55:23 AM
but not by writing on the screen, but in a smaller device, like a touchpad-like input device
That is why originally recommended to use a tablet (computer) device. More specifically, a Windows 8 tablet.

1) wacom is an expensive option :/
Cheap is not a realistic requirement, in the context you've drawn.
509 Software / Finished Programs / Re: Drop Zone Feature Suggestion on: February 13, 2013, 01:34:48 AM
Welcome to DC Elancore,

It's more useful to add the intended application name in the title of the post, when posting in a generic forum.

And besides that, double-posting isn't needed, Skwire reads your request when he has time/is available, he may be living in another time-zone from where you are...
510 Software / Screenshot Captor / Re: Request: make freehand annotations on: February 12, 2013, 02:10:42 AM
Hm, drawing is fine, but I'm a bit unsure about the Undo feature. ctrl-z doesn't seem to remove the free-hand drawing, though it does remove the shadow applied (as per your suggestion Wink)
511  Main Area and Open Discussion / General Software Discussion / Re: Best JAVA IDE on: February 12, 2013, 02:02:00 AM
So no IntelliJ users?

Looking for an excuse to try it smiley
Tried it a few months ago, but I was so totally baffled on how to use it, even after being 'nurtured' by NetBeans, I un-installed it 5 minutes after first try. embarassed
512  Main Area and Open Discussion / Living Room / Re: Suggestions for low vision problems while working on a computer on: February 12, 2013, 01:55:12 AM
tv resolution is 640 x 480
Huh? Even my CRT tv can do better than that. I'd expect that size to be show in a 'passe-partout' style on any tv.

You'd prolly better find the native resolution of the tv, and configure the laptop with that for the external monitor, then the image is going to be much better viewable, I guess.
513  Main Area and Open Discussion / Living Room / Re: Suggestions for low vision problems while working on a computer on: February 11, 2013, 05:25:35 AM
Is it common for the tv to not fill the whole screen?
Have you set the external monitor (the tv) as secondary (extend desktop onto it) and to it's native resolution? most likely 1920x1080, or possibly 1367x768, as I don't expect the 10.1" laptop to use those resolutions, so it shows the laptop-resolution (1280x800?) mapped 1:1 on screen.

A tablet?
515  Main Area and Open Discussion / General Software Discussion / Re: Best JAVA IDE on: February 10, 2013, 11:00:54 AM
Ah, again this same question  cheesy

IMHO, there is only 1 java IDE and that's Eclipse.

I also use NetBeans, but I always feel I'm treated like idiot by it, so I'm somewhat discomforted when using it. And the projects are a disaster as it's impossible to switch project-type, or have a project that builds using both ant and maven.
And when working with VS2010, I crave for the autocomplete and javadoc features of Eclipse. The only good feature there is the search feature during intellisense but I expect the next release of Eclipse to have that too.
516  Main Area and Open Discussion / General Software Discussion / Re: Avast Installs Chrome on: February 08, 2013, 01:43:28 AM
That's a practice I've seen before, both from Avast and other software[s/z] ohmy
517 Software / ProcessTamer / Re: How to limit a specific program? on: February 08, 2013, 01:41:37 AM
I'm not sure what I'm looking for. How about this link? Or should it be more specific? Thanks.
Not sure it's up to date for the IE you have installed, but I've seen this script solve similar problems before.
And it won't hurt if all was well already, so just run it.
518 Software / Skwire Empire / Re: Release: sWeather (tray-based weather app) on: February 02, 2013, 01:17:48 PM
I think you're a bit overprotective here. I'm getting weather data from 6 or 7 locations around the world, so my physical location is not necessarily related to the weather I'm monitoring tellme

For comparisons: Do you use such proxy to retrieve your twitter or Facebook updates?
519 Software / ProcessTamer / Re: How to limit a specific program? on: February 02, 2013, 01:10:01 PM
If rightnote is using the IE html control to display it's content, I'd reregister the IE stuff. Instructions can be found using Google (I'm typing on a tablet atm, so copy/paste is quite bothersome)
520 Software / ProcessTamer / Re: How to limit a specific program? on: February 02, 2013, 11:48:30 AM
You'd better fix the issue with Eudora, then to fight the symptoms it's causing, that's way more productive.

Most likely the content of the message that causes high cpu can't be processed correctly, you could check the registration of the IE control or whatever Eudora uses to display the message. It could also help to update Eudora to the most recent stable release, or reinstall completely.
521 Software / Post New Requests Here / Re: IDEA: Program: Set 'Run this program as an administrator' for mass file settings on: February 01, 2013, 02:41:58 PM
Would be about as quick to turn UAC to the lowest level, no nagging any more, same result.

Thmbsup That's lookin' good, Stephen smiley
523 Software / Skwire Empire / Re: Release: sWeather (tray-based weather app) on: January 29, 2013, 09:16:31 AM
I'm using sWeather with a network-proxy both at work and at home, atm, and it has worked ever since day 1 with those configs. I can pass the proxy servers without authentication, though.
I've always assumed it uses the IE/Windows proxy settings, but I never asked nor checked embarassed, but you could try that first, I guess?

I understand that that's like a mini-version of the NET framework,
so it looks like I'll have to install the full version. Is that correct?
Do you know if it's generally okay to install the full version on top of this version?
Yes, and Yes. thumbs up
525  Other Software / Developer's Corner / Re: Anyone here do any mobile development? on: January 27, 2013, 09:25:55 AM
I bought my first Android phone 2,5 years ago (and my second 6 months ago), and read the Google Android development docs with the intention of creating a killer-app, but never actually created any Android app embarassed (other than the obligatory demo-stuff).
Time and ideas are lacking..., so if you have a good idea, but no resources, I could jump into that thumbs up
