+ Added status bar mouseover conversions for all values that can be converted.
Hover your mouse above a reading, e.g., the current temperature, and the
converted value should appear in the status bar.  (Thanks, Ath)
Great feature, thanks!

What do you all think of this layout with buttons at the bottom?
 (see attachment in previous post)

Only if the 5-day preview could be turned off Cool, the current height already is about the maximum height I would want to allow it on screen.
507  DonationCoder.com Software / Post New Requests Here / Re: IDEA: Diagnose problems in windows file sharing on LAN on: August 14, 2012, 11:41:44 AM
Welcome to the site, Jim

I have searched widely for a tool to diagnose why windows file sharing sometimes stops working.
What are you talking about? Ever since I'm using Windows 7 I've never seen this kind of issues. And even with Windows XP it was very rare, and only when XP had been running for weeks on end without a reboot.

  • What OS are you on?
  • Have you updated all your drivers for hardware? Windows Update does not have lots of network drivers up to date, device manufacturers usually do
  • Is your Windows fully up to date with the latest service packs and updates?
508  DonationCoder.com Software / Skwire Empire / Re: Release: sWeather (tray-based weather app) on: August 14, 2012, 11:34:48 AM
I'm very pleased with the way sWeather has developed. Nice Thmbsup

There's only one, maybe rather big, feature I'd like to request: A setting for Fahrenheit or Celcius/Metric per location, so I can easily see, and optionally quote, the 'actual' temperature for locations in the non-metric using parts of the world Wink
A possible alternative for this feature could be a tooltip displaying the 'other' value then the default display-metric, when hovering the mouse over it. A quick calculation from F to C or back would be just fine, polling the Yahoo API twice would be overkill, IMHO.
509  Main Area and Open Discussion / General Software Discussion / Re: Arranges in a txt file on: August 12, 2012, 12:11:27 PM
You could try CSV Editor that has a lot of options specifically for csv files, also available in a Unicode-edition, and on top of that is free software smiley

511  DonationCoder.com Software / BrowserTraySwitch / Re: Switching Default Browser to Specific Firefox Profile on: August 10, 2012, 09:24:57 AM
Problem is that you seem to have to restart all instances of Firefox...
Guess that's the reason you got no reply to your previous, and same, question, before... (Firefox says: "No, can't do" ?? )
512  Special User Sections / DC Website CMS / Re: A more radical transition idea for DC CMS on: July 30, 2012, 12:22:30 PM
Is the cost of any commercial CMS justified, seeing the count of blog-posts currently made? Or would a switch attract more writers for the blog and other stuff? And cross-posting to twitter and other media, it'll probably be easier, but will it be used?
Seeing how difficult it is to write anything on my personal blog, and experiencing that others (mostly non-writers, that's true) have similar issues, I'm worried that, even with a super-duper CMS in place it may not be used to it's full potential.
Yes, I'm fully aware that it will bring a lot of good to organizing the site and other stuff, but like what others have written, the forum is what I'm coming back for, several times a day if I can, and much less the blog and other pages.
513  DonationCoder.com Software / fSekrit / Re: Symantec False positive... on: July 30, 2012, 12:07:30 PM
False positives should be reported to the manufacturer of the AV package, Symantec's false positive page in this case. That's the most reliable way to remove this anomaly from their package.
All assuming you have checked your files not to be contaminated, ofcourse, an on-line scanning service like Jotti's is a good way to have your files checked independently if unsure.
514  Special User Sections / Site/Forum Features / Re: About the Basement (Soap Box) Section on: July 26, 2012, 04:23:22 AM
If you filter out the soap-box forum from the 'unread' page, shouldn't these messages also be filtered from the 'recent posts' summary at the bottom of the forum home-page?
 (see attachment in previous post)

Adding to my previous note, I now see that the last message posted ("Latest Post") does display the message in the Basement section, even now that these are no longer visible in the "Recent Posts" section. Maybe it should be filtered from there too?

520  Main Area and Open Discussion / General Software Discussion / Re: Customize Snap DB? on: July 13, 2012, 01:28:36 PM
Upon more thinking another option is to go with one Word doc per part number, and all the PN docs in one folder.
Then Data Crow or any other database management tool (even MS Access undecided) is definitely a better solution!
521  Main Area and Open Discussion / General Software Discussion / Re: Customize Snap DB? on: July 13, 2012, 09:54:21 AM
If I can throw in a suggestion: Have a look at Data Crow, that's for keeping 'collections' with a lot of bells and whistles, but would be a fine candidate here, imho.
522  DonationCoder.com Software / Finished Programs / Re: IDEA: Shell extension to show total play time of media clips on: July 13, 2012, 04:07:24 AM
should it make any difference on a 64-bits Win 7 if PlayTime is placed in Program Files or in Program Files (x86) ?
Nope, it's just a location, PF/PFx86 has no extra special meaning, other than being more protected from modification by access rights, so you can't (shouldn't) store user-stuff there.
523  DonationCoder.com Software / Screenshot Captor / Re: want to invoke PrinterDialog, using -setprinter? on: July 12, 2012, 07:51:21 AM
Changing the default printer can be done using rundll32 like this:
Formatted for Text with the GeSHI Syntax Highlighter [copy or print]
  1. rundll32 printui.dll,PrintUIEntry /y /q /n "Printer name"

Source

Some more info on PrintUI can be found here

Yes, the checksum is for the exe, as the values are also in the hash.txt file in the zip file, for anytime reference by the user.

I will mention so on the website, to clear any misunderstanding in future.

Regards,

Anand

It would be more helpful to (also) publish the md5/sha hashes for the zipfile, as I'd be (theoretically) able to replace the exe, update the txt file with new hashes and publish a new zip-file...
