26  Main Area and Open Discussion / Living Room / Hitchbot, a baby-Cody descendant? on: August 02, 2014, 09:46:39 AM
Last week a researchproject was started, by sending a robot on a hitch-hiking trip across Canada: http://www.hitchbot.me/
It even has instructions for anyone picking it up for a part of the journey.

Sounds a lot like the travels of DC's baby-Cody  Grin

F5 / reload worked for me.
Ah, tried that earlier and it didn't make a difference, but this time it did. Thanks!
29  Special User Sections / Site/Forum Features / Re: (new) icon - make it easier to hit on touch screen device on: July 31, 2014, 09:21:57 AM
So far I've not seen any difference in the 'last new message' icon on the "Unread Posts" list  huh
30  Other Software / Developer's Corner / Re: Data not being written to MySQL DB on: July 27, 2014, 05:55:58 AM
I'm unable to find the spot in your code where you assign values to $first, $last and $theMail variables. That could IMHO explain the failure to store, as the columns have the 'not null' attribute...

Ditto, but it also brings a link to unsubscribe  smiley

The original offer is 3 years old and probably expired, better ignore stray posts like from Mark2White, smells like seo
33  Main Area and Open Discussion / General Software Discussion / Re: independent advanced search for the web on: July 23, 2014, 07:41:01 AM
Please stop opening new threads with exactly the same request. (IIRC this is the 3rd within a week about 'advanced search') This is very counter-productive (read: de-motivating), even for anyone that is trying to help you, and you won't get answers even in the rare case you have a relevant/interesting request. Angry

34  Main Area and Open Discussion / Living Room / Re: Weird Router Issue Hoping someone has seen before on: July 19, 2014, 05:32:58 AM
I've seen similar, intermittent, connection issues when I bought a new Linksys (ea6700) AC router. It was cured after I replaced it with a Netgear aparatus, as the ea6700 was originally bought with the intention to fix connection-issues we had with a Linksys wrt160...
Not even bios updates have yet been able to cure the intermittent wi-fi connection issues with the ea6700 (that is still here, being used in my tech-testing network, not directly connected to the interwebs)

Steps are: [1] choose Unread Posts at the bottom of the forum frontpage, and (trying) to touch the smallish icon near [2] (not the checkbox)

36  Special User Sections / Site/Forum Features / Re: (new) icon - make it easier to hit on touch screen device on: July 18, 2014, 08:16:56 AM
The same, or at least comparable, feature would be nice for the 'all unread' list, where the icon is quite small, but I assume it's using the same icon tellme
37  DonationCoder.com Software / Post New Requests Here / Re: Simple Utility to find the value of a specific key in Windows Registry on: July 17, 2014, 04:34:58 AM
@questorfla: What is the actual goal, after you've determined that value from the registry? It's not mentioned up until now, IMHO. huh

I could guess that you're trying to install some update, but selecting the correct update from an ms webpage would be as much risk as sending them a bunch of instructions by e-mail. And why isn't this covered by Windows Updates (or WSUS) ?

How about http://www.google.com/advanced_search ?
40  Main Area and Open Discussion / General Software Discussion / Re: Reindexing in the background software for databases on: July 11, 2014, 11:29:23 AM
I download the dbu.exe utility, but goes well under xp 32 bit, but not in w7 64 bits. What am i doing bad ?
16 bit executables can't run on 64 bit Windows, because MS didn't that feature in Win x64.
41  Main Area and Open Discussion / General Software Discussion / Re: Reindexing in the background software for databases on: July 09, 2014, 02:00:25 PM
There are, obviously, 2 types of indexing discussed in this thread: database indexes, and application independent textsearch indexes. The OP is imho meant to point at the latter, so for this request, dtsearch could be a viable solution. It supports a whole bunch of file-types, including dbf files, and can be found at http://dtsearch.com (payware, no affiliation, found using a google search)

Have you tried mouser's Easy Screencast Recorder yet?

46  DonationCoder.com Software / Skwire Empire / Re: Release: sWeather (tray-based weather app) on: July 05, 2014, 11:57:05 AM
Hm, tested here on W7/x64 with Aero theme, and it updates the numbers in the tray every time I change in my list of ~6 locations. Can this be related to having just 2 locations in the list ? (the off-by-1 anomaly)
47  Other Software / Developer's Corner / Re: searching the web (in particular, Amazon.com) from c# program on: July 04, 2014, 12:19:04 PM
Isn't that wat mouser designed and made Web Link Captor for?
48  Other Software / Developer's Corner / Re: friend can't run progs made with .net 4.5 on his XP machine on: July 04, 2014, 01:24:58 AM
.Net 2.0, 3.x (avoid using that version btw) and 4.x can happily coexist on a single system. When installing 4.5 on a system where 4.0 already exists, it will be upgraded to 4.5. (Win Vista and later, as said above)
.Net 4.5 is fully backward compatible down to 2.0, except for the new/improved features and, hopefully, for all the bugs in these previous versions cheesy
49  Main Area and Open Discussion / General Software Discussion / Re: Reindexing in the background software for databases on: July 02, 2014, 10:59:23 AM
I would like an application to reindex continually in the background even when these databases are in use
2 remarks:
- Properly programmed applications (using .dbf files) don't need that
- Most applications don't allow their active (database) files to be changed, during normal operation
50  DonationCoder.com Software / Skwire Empire / Re: Release: sWeather (tray-based weather app) on: July 02, 2014, 02:41:35 AM
! Fixed missing "na.ico" file in the Fat Cow tray condition theme.
      (Thanks, Brothbeard)

I recall to have seen other themes with missing .ico files in the past (add-on I can't recall where I got them from, presumably this or another sWeather thread) and I just stopped using them embarassed.
Could adding idiot-proof errorhandling to the routine that shows the icons be helpful as being a more generic solution?
