Hm, creating a screencast of a rather static screen only showing an url and the last 'button' pressed isn't worth the trouble, imho.

I have added  a screenshot to my NANY entry 'NANY 2014 Release : WinButtonsWebServer plugin for WinButtons' though tellme

228  Special User Sections / N.A.N.Y. 2014 / Re: NANY 2014 Release: Q-FlashCards for Android on: December 30, 2013, 02:53:21 PM
Well, currently the notification is the only way to get to the screen where you answer the questions, so there is obviously no option to disable it... But it makes sense as a feature request to allow using as most of other similar programs work - answering questions only on demand. But the notification is actually the whole point and main idea - it reminds you of a word not just once a day or whenever you remember, but rather whenever you need to answer it to memorise it well.
Yep, that sounds reasonable, but then, a way to turn the whole thing off until I turn it back on, would that be feasible?
229  Special User Sections / N.A.N.Y. 2014 / Re: NANY 2014 Release: Q-FlashCards for Android on: December 30, 2013, 02:03:17 PM
Well, your app is quite well-polished, that's no reason not to publish to the Play Store. A (Play-Store)page listing all it's features is nearly ready when grabbing all information from this thread's first post, including the screenshots.

There is one feature-request though: I want to be able to stop all notifications. I've tried turning off everything I could find, but it still pops up in the notification area. I dislike most stuff that puts itself there, unless I explicitly allow it. Currently I'm unable to achieve that huh
230  Special User Sections / N.A.N.Y. 2014 / Re: NANY 2014 Release: Q-FlashCards for Android on: December 30, 2013, 07:57:13 AM
That is looking very nice. Thmbsup

I'd advise you to publish, with a proper description and seo wordlist ofc, to the Play Store, so you get some real exposure.

I expect to use it for learning a language too, most likely, just not Norsk or Italiano Grin, and being able to download a library of words for that language would be really helpful. Typing in 3000 or more cards on my phone/tablet sounds really horrible Cry
Uploading a card-set I created could be rewarding as well thumbs up

Ps: I'll be testing after January 1st, as I'm still working on my own NANY 2014 entry embarassed

Again, this is a prototype to test functionality.
So you have another NANY entry? Wink
232  Main Area and Open Discussion / General Software Discussion / Re: Upgrade to Windows 64-bit on: December 21, 2013, 08:09:16 AM
You can't have a parallel install of 64 and 32 bit of Windows 7 on the same partition, as Shades already explained. In fact, the last installed OS will replace the existing OS. Separate partitions (or disks) is the way to go for this feature. It would require a reboot to switch to the other install, though.
Hassling with Hyper-V from Server 2008R2/Server 2012 is only for the not-fainthearted (IOW knowledgeable) IMHO, so instead of that, I'd advise to create a clean install of Windows x64, and run (after possibly doing a P2V conversion) the 32 bit incarnation in a virtualized solution like VMWare Player (or better the non-free Workstation) or VirtualBox. Ample RAM memory is a requirement for such setup ofcourse, but 8GB for the host system should suffice, allowing the 32bit install 2 GB with enough space for normal use.

A re-install of Windows x64 is required, and advised, though.

If there are no reasons to keep the 32 bit OS around, then that's an easy solution as well, bite the bullet and just stop running the (virtualized) 32 bit OS cheesy

Ah, now I see what happened, you downloaded the old, obsolete and 'security'-hampered AutoIt release, that tries to get the data from the Excel file by opening it using Excel and then using select-all/copy to clipboard. There are issues with that method, as reported by others in that thread, giving the exact same error...
All these issues are resolved by the completely rewritten 2.x (Java) release, that can be downloaded from my dcmembers page, referenced in that thread (typing this on the tablet, so quite difficult to add the link here, sorry).
Maybe you could try that version.

I removed the AutoIt-based files from the Excel2Html thread.
234  DonationCoder.com Software / Post New Requests Here / Re: "Merge field" function on: December 19, 2013, 01:35:35 PM
I'm getting an error: Line 574 Error: The requested action with this object has failed.
I have triple-checked my syntax, and it seems okay.
Can you share your template (anonimized ofc, PM for e-mail) and the exact errormessage & optional logfile? I'd like to debug this some more.
My current finding is that you have some conditional thingy that triggers the error, if it's actually in the Excel2Html program.
235  DonationCoder.com Software / Post New Requests Here / Re: "Merge field" function on: December 18, 2013, 05:06:38 AM
You should not have the .xls(x) file open in any other application, like Excel, maybe that's the issue?

Try downloading the files with an other browser, that usually fixes it.
238  DonationCoder.com Software / Screenshot Captor / Re: Out of System Resources error ONLY when trying to grab Selected Region on: December 07, 2013, 06:29:16 AM
Nope, doesn't work for me.
Could it be that you have a conflict in the hotkeys, that starts 2 applications, SSC and something else?

Hm, I don't fully get what the use-case is, here. huh

Some programs I don't want to close on <Esc>, and others explicitly support that (and it can be disabled) so that's also just fine.

Unfortunately, I don't have Admin. privileges,
Then, how did you get the software installed in the first place?
241  DonationCoder.com Software / BrowserTraySwitch / Re: Custom Location, DonationCoder parent folder on: November 25, 2013, 01:17:11 PM
You should have a look at the ConfigDir.ini file in the directory where you installed BTS. It contains detailed information on how to move the location of these files.

- Virtualized folder? So the file may have been stored in C:\Program Files\blabla, but Windows tucked it away in a virtualized folder, C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\blabla

245  Main Area and Open Discussion / General Software Discussion / Re: The Open Source debate on: November 13, 2013, 08:55:31 AM
It's a bit of a pitty that you had to mention the name of the product and it being open-source.
The only way you'll probably get the application on board is from a functional viewpoint: your users should tell that stubborn/short-sighted IT-guy that they want/need that application to be able to do their work properly, and that IT needs to provide it to them to be able to stay in business, instead of the other way around.
This is of course based on the assumption that a functional shoot-out has already been done Wink
The fact that it's open source should not be part of the equasion.

a song performed by Jane Birkin and written by Serge Gainsbourg
Their most popular, EU-wide IMHO, was Je t'aime (lyrics)
247  Main Area and Open Discussion / Living Room / Re: Looking for a seventies music title... on: November 11, 2013, 06:06:48 AM
What country was it released in? Not every song is released/available in every country embarassed
248  Main Area and Open Discussion / General Software Discussion / Re: Free FTP storage using my own FTP client?? on: November 08, 2013, 09:36:58 AM
AFAICS, FTP is not secure enough to be considered for transporting sensitive stuff across the internet, so DropBox and Wuala are often used as an alternative.
