Living Room / Re: Is this the worlds most elegant keyboard?
« on: March 03, 2011, 02:07 PM »
The word's most elegant keyboard is what DC's handing out this month! ;)
For a tech-savvy guy, Yep, Bingo, Right on the Mark, for a regular user: horror, IMHO

Just do not stop when you reach $6,000.

How would you want to stop volunteered donations, put a stop-sign at the site? That's not going to happen :D
Any donation, big or small is more then welcome, mouser said that several times, in the last 6 years

General Software Discussion / Re: DVCS ?
« on: March 03, 2011, 02:01 PM »
Wouldn't that be a sound feature request ? Would you use it ?
Nope, some language/tools/developers using vcs controlled source induce so many changes, that can be relatively unimportant, but need to be checked in at one moment, while in another environment, a single line changed can make a world of difference that needs to be committed at once. So change-counting doesn't count :P

Circle Dock / Re: Circle Dock disappears on start up
« on: March 03, 2011, 01:50 PM »
You could find the actual location of the .exe using Windows Explorer and create a new shortcut for it, I guess.

Did you, by accident, drag the Circle Dock shortcut onto your desktop, Quick Launch bar or into the Startup folder?

I'd like to read a Scrivener review (even a short one) also, +1

General Software Discussion / Re: Serial Key Storage for Windows
« on: March 03, 2011, 07:34 AM »
@All responses & rjbull Thanks for all the tips you gave.
I've now tried MemPad and DateReminder, but they just not give me the right feeling about them that I can safely distribute them in my team. It's a bit vulnerable that all data is stored in a text(like) file.

Guess we will be staying with the current setup of a central KeePass database, and a set of repeating Outlook appointments for our team-lead. These appointments have to be manually maintained, and passed on when changing team-lead, but that shouldn't happen too often ;), biggest disadvantage is that the reminders only pop-up at the calendar of the person(s) that scheduled the reminders, not from a central calendar (we have a team-mailbox and -calendar in our Exchange server, never got group-notifications working).

Mini-Reviews by Members / Re: Centerbase CRM - Mini-Review

Nice and clear review.

Thanks Tim!

Most likely you can configure a command to be executed behind either a button or on a program event. There you could enter an entire command-line for WinSendKeys to do it's useful job. Or if there's not enough space, pass it a keystroke file (using the -f option), or just create a batchfile that does the job.

[shameless plug]
Can be quite nicely combined with WinButtons, published as a coding snack by myself

General Software Discussion / Re: Any XML gui tools out there?
« on: March 03, 2011, 01:39 AM »
There's the input description: http://xmlgraphics.a...ache.org/fop/fo.html

And a graphical authoring tool: http://foa.sourceforge.net/

3287
Can I vote for both? If yes, then:
 a) +1
 b) +1

(OIW: Yes I'd like you to do both :D)

I'm aiming at an add-on tool for what I'm releasing tomorrow (March 3rd4th, got bumped by an App release of skwire, but that's OK), and I guess it's doable this month so what would be another release (if I really push it ofcourse, as in fact it's a configuration-gui ;))

Timns Apps / Re: Auspex Build 1.3.5.109 uploaded
« on: March 02, 2011, 01:18 PM »
I think it makes more sense than starting a new topic with each new release.
But my major gripe about these new posts is, that there's no download-link provided, nor a link to the main post...

General Software Discussion / Re: DVCS ?
« on: March 02, 2011, 10:16 AM »
Committing changes is a voluntary action and, knowing myself, I'll obviously forget to commit important changes from time to time.  :) Or am I missing something ?
That's probably the main reason the icon overlays in Windows Explorer turn red if something has changed locally. You have to take action yourself though, no auto-commit (nor would I want that).

You haven't mentioned the programming environment/IDE you are using for your project. Maybe that has an integration, as most of the big IDE's have it (NetBeans, Eclipse and descendants, Visual Studio). Some of them can even warn you if you try to close without committing your changes.

very clever. an e-book of (DC) Cody related poetry ought to be planned.
Do I hear a pledge? :D

bundle software key
Meaning?

3294
My risk assessment was based on the words "all my main passwords", combined with "to see how it works". The risk is in the fact that you want to see how it works, but you are using your main passwords, that can open quite important information... These terms don't combine well in safety-land, IMHO.

3295
You should donate to the site :D

Site/Forum Features / Re: Shortcomings of DC and How to Improve
« on: March 01, 2011, 05:07 PM »
The point about the site domain name.. has been problematic from day 1, but i have a habbit of messing up naming issues and this is no exception and its hard to fix at this point.  BUT a much more dramatic "fix" would be to have the site actually "bifurcate" somewhat into two different sister sites -- one for reviews and general software discussion, and one more of a repository and home for donationware authors -- set up using a proper cms that would allow everyone equal standing.

Wouldn't that suggest as if there are actually 2 kind of people here, some that read and/or write reviews, and some that use+donate &/| create donationware? Guess even that suggestion also is quite counterproductive :(

3297
and am going to move all my main passwords over when I get home to see how it works
-wreckedcarzz (March 01, 2011, 04:55 PM)

Is that as risky as it sounds

3298
Woo hoo!!! We passed the $1,000 mark!

And it took only a little over 9 hours! :o

3299
Will there be a special forum to put all special releases and stuff (like NANY's), or is it just to be put in the usual places? (My coding snack has grown a bit out of the usual coding snack size :-[)
In the latter case I was thinking of adding something to the title like "March2011 Fundraiser:", and in my case adding " release: <apptitle> <version>"

If you buy the extra memory, XP will probably run quite nicely on it (but not very quick though). But be sure to get hold of all hardware-drivers. This Microsoft page could assist in checking the hardware.

If you are going to use it for writing, is the built-in keyboard good enough for that, or are you adding an extra keyboard?
