Guess I'll just leave it the way it is and include source and icon in the download.  People can add WorkerW or whatever they want to the group.

That's a fine solution, it'll work for me

Are you running some alternative desktop?
Nope, I'm using Explorer2 as filemanager, but it's not as an Explorer replacement, just as any other app.

Use the spy tool and see if the desktop has class name "Progman"
It shows WorkerW as the ClassName, and also does the AutoIt Window Info tool, so I added
GroupAdd,DesktopGroup, ahk_class WorkerW
just below the line with "progman", and all worked fine :D

There's a thread in the AutoIt forums about this subject (the AHK forum was the first google hit I got but had no info), and it turns out that the 'Desktop composition' feature of Windows (Aero) is using this WindowClass.
You might want to study that entire forum thread to see if this addition has adverse effects in other places, but I have no intention to turn off Aero :P

While it rests on its stand (being charged) on the sideboard in the living room, it's a photo frame.

That's what my Motorola Milestone does (kinda) when settled in it's (official) deskstand. The deskstand has a magnet in a specific place, recognized by the phone, that switches it to Deskstand mode (a special Motorola supplied app) 8). The same goes for the car-holder, a magnet in another spot triggers the car-mode, and loads the default navigation app.
It's required for the phone/tablet to have hardware support for that ofcourse :-\

It works for me.  Are you clicking in the desktop first to make sure it's the active window?
Yup, both F8 is shown in About, and Ctrl-Shift-n works, as reported earlier, but F8 doesn't work. Just nothing happens, no error,no action, nothing. But neither does F7 when 7Folder is started without command-line parameter...

I'll investigate the source, and see what's the cause of this, but that'll have to wait until Thursday, sorry, other obligations until then.

« on: March 22, 2011, 01:25 PM »
Hm, I must say I like them as they are.

Afraid it's time for a few optional features for those that don't like or need them:
  • Age column on or off
  • Notes on of off
  • Note per name (that's a new one  ;))
  • Days left feature on or off

This 'small' project is growing a bit out of hand :P

The steep prices have kept me from buying one so far. And the Xoom was one of the contenders. I'm just waiting for the competition to kick in, so prices go to an acceptable level, before I get one of these 7" or 10" Android powered dreammachines :tellme:
Getting one straight from China or Hong Kong is good on price, but not on features, mostly outdated Android versions (as low as 1.5) or way to slow cpu or lack of memory.

My PC has currently enough power so I can postpone an upgrade for a few years (I just hope Win8 delays long enough)

I'd also vote to keep it simple, and confine the 'days left' feature to only show days until the next birthday(s) ahead (name(s) included), somewhere in the statusbar or toolbar area.

but it needs to be about 1/2 the price.

Isn't that true for all the real good stuff :tellme:

Just installed v1.2, and the F8 function, when specified on the command-line, works as expected in Windows Explorer, but I can't seem to get it to work on the plain Desktop. And <Ctrl-Shift-N> does work there, so maybe the filtering is a bit too tight?

I'm on Win7 Ultimate, Euro-English language but locale (number- and date- formats etc.) set to NL.

Euhm, maybe a bit blunt, but as an Explorer2 user, I'd favor <F8> (New folder) over <F7> (New file). Would there be a possibility to either include the source so I can change that myself, or add a command-line parameter to specify the (function)key to use? :-[

« on: March 21, 2011, 05:23 PM »
Well, I found a few bugs, related to the speed of release, that obviously cut some corners in the testing department :-[

Also added a -m maxrow option, made any error messageboxes autoclose after 60 seconds and completely suppressible by -q parameter.

Download from my original release-post, above

Well, as an Android user, I'm interested

* Double-clicking a birthday will now edit it.
Could a Double-Click on an empty spot be turned into Add birthday, instead of an errormessage? That's a bit more intuitive, IMHO

For the rest it's just steady as a rock

Great feature! Got a planned releasedate yet? :D

Nice find!

I tried it quickly on an invoice I received, and though the layout, when selected for most correct layout, is indeed a bit awkward to edit, it sure does look like the original pdf document.

Thanks.

I've released the Coding Snack I pledged for today in it's thread, over here

Please comment, so I can improve it further :)

Author Ath

Description
A command-line tool to convert Excel data into html like the Mail Merge feature of Word. Created as a resolution to this until now unfinished Coding Snack, during the March 2011 fundraiser event.

Features
Convert Excel data into 1 big html table (singlefile mode) or each row into a single html file, or multifile mode where the names of the file can either be based on row number of column data (multiple columns can be used), and each column can be output anywhere the html based template allows. Startrow and Maxrow can be set by parameters.

Planned Features
  • Remove the requirement of having Excel installed locally (involves rewriting in Java...) Now realized with v2.0
  • Filtering of data, if requested by users.
  • User request, anyone?

What's new
  • v2.1.0.0 2012-03-02, Ath
  • + Added 2 new tags for looping over all rows of the excel sheet (as defined by the -r/-s/-m parameters) (suggestion by DeVamp)
  • + Added an xml example for looping
  • * Readme updated for the new tags
  • v2.0.1.2 2011-07-27, Ath
  • + Added excel2html.sh after some testing with Excel2Html on Ubuntu linux (should be set to executable to run directly)
  • * Updated readme accordingly for some linux differences
  • v2.0.1.1 2011-07-27, Ath
  • ! Documented -sf parameter to enable ShowFormula, displaying [formula text] with the result of the formula (for testing)
  • + Added -dt parameter to Display all Tags supported in the template
  • v2.0.1.0 2011-07-26, Ath
  • ! Fixed issue with not handling formulas correctly, by replacing poi-ooxml-schemas-<version>.jar by ooxml-schemas-1.1.jar
  • v2.0.0.1 2011-07-26, Ath
  • * Improvements to the build scripts to automatically produce -nolib archive and publish.version archives
  • * Sets errorlevel to 1 when an error occurs, so the batch file can jump to a pause to keep the message in sight
  • * Sets errorlevel to 2 if something goes awry during processing of the Excel file to html file(s)
  • * Some minor source and javadoc improvements

Usage
Installation
  • Unpack the contents of the zipfile into it's own directory
  • Create a template with markers as documented in the readme file
  • Optionally: Configure parameters in Excel2Html.ini

Using the Application
Specify any not yet configured parameters on the command-line to Excel2Html to produce the html file(s)

Uninstallation
Remove all files from the computer

Known Issues
  • Date display is somewhat problematic, though usable

I agree on regexes being an elegant solution to many problems, that would otherwise could be difficult to solve.

ppl scared of any regex, posted their opinion, that I quoted (without the quotes, sorry) above, that's the pessimistic group. I'm not in the pessimistic group...
