SavePathCapsMclick  -- v081011 -- http://nod5.dcmember...epathcapsmclick.html

Use: hold caps and Mclick (middle mouse click) on a window (focused or non-focused)
If (1) it was an explorer window and (2) a "save as" window exists,
then the explorer window path is added to the save as window input box.
Else the clicked window is minimized.

I hope someone more than me has use for this :)
All feedback is appreciated.

I also use GreatNews. But I'm more and more leaning towards leaving it. It has not been updated in a long time and development seem to have halted. It is genuinly sad to see since GreatNews was such a promising program. I've used FeedDemon before so might very well be going back to it again. That or the upcoming RSSOwl 2.0 ( http://www.rssowl.org/ )

There are some real gems on that list! Here are my two all time favorite flashgames:
1. DinoRun ( https://www.donation...ex.php?topic=13628.0 )
2. Cat on a Dolphin ( https://www.donation...ex.php?topic=11930.0 )
(Cat on a Dolphin is strangely not on that top 150 )

General Software Discussion / Re: FinePrint vs. priPrinter
« on: October 03, 2008, 01:32 PM »
One more feature note: Both FinePrint and priPrinter allow removing graphics. But neither allows removing graphics from individual pages. I hoped priPrinter would be able to do that since it already allows custom cropping for individual pages. I hope they add it. Or even better: add a way for users to cover any choosen part of a page by drawing a white rectangular box on top of it.

Here's another quirk with priPrinter (1.5 beta): in the left column it displays thumbnails of all pages in each printjob. Now, if I print job1 and, without closing the preview window, print job2, then the two jobs are both displayed in that column. If I then click the "previous arrow" at the bottom of the column then priPrinter jumps to the previous printjob. If I then click the "next arrow" I go back to the current printjob. Only now they are separated so that I first see job2 and have to click again to see (only) job1. That's confusing. What's more confusing, the next/previous buttons loop around so pressing "next" while displaying the most recent printjob jumps to the oldest previous printjob.

Fedorov, which version are you using? The 1.5 beta starts with the same window size it had last time it was closed on my computer. Is that enough? Or do you request that even if the window was de-maximized last time it was open it should still open maximized next time?

I deinstalled 1.2.1.579 and instead installed the 1.5 beta and now I get the preview window.

Is there no way to force preview window to display automatically immediately after printing to priPrinter?!
I have this checkbox ticked but it does not seem to make a difference:

I'm testing priPrinter right now. It is excellent so far! Nice find zridling  Great that FinePrint finally gets a worthy competitor!

Advantages compared to Fineprint
- allows printing 3 pages to a sheet
(3 maximum cropped pages * doublesided = 6 pages per paper sheet = still readable in most cases and enormously paper-saving)
- allow customized cropping for each page

Disadvantages compared to Fineprint:
- lacks a range of quickly choosen and increasingly more aggressive autocrop modes (fineprints has "margins: none, small, medium, large, original"). A maximum crop mode is especially important to have.
- can't insert pagenumber on each page (not just on each sheet)

hi freestyler. Yeah I've noticed that problem some time. The script already has such a delay - it tries to click "save" up to 6 times (with 0,5 seconds wait inbetween each). So the problem is something else but I haven't pinpointed what it is.

I haven't had time to test Video Thumbnails Maker (mentioned above; http://www.suu-design.com/projects.html ) but it looks good and is freeware:

If anyone does some testing with it, do post feedback here.

hi isd!
This sounds like a neat feature  It might be possible to do via a plugin. After the  " myimages\ TAB moon" search, once you've gotten the list of results, you would press a hotkey (or select a context menu command or something like that) and then a FARR plugin starts, the plugin then displays all and only image files from the results as clickable thumbnails in a html view mode page (similar to the AlbumDisplayer plugin perhaps). Would that be similar to what you had in mind? Clicking an thumbnail could perhaps then make FARR open the fullsize in the default browser. The hard part would be to write the plugin of course :D I don't have time to make an attempt at the moment but maybe someone else does. (the code in the AlbumDisplayer files can of course be reused in any way if that would be to some help)

Find And Run Robot / Re: Another FARR similar app - Executor
« on: August 23, 2008, 02:02 PM »
(Maybe the below should be in  a separate thread, but these things was discussed here so...)

Some small ideas on speeding up alias set up in FARR for users (I'm just brainstorming, not sure if all of them would work well together):

1. when opening options, let lists > aliases > myaliases.alias have focus
2. on the lists > aliases page, add a big button named "new alias" (or "make new alias")
3. also add that button to the options root view (the one which now is a large grey area with the text "choose one of the sub-pages...")
4. hide the text "test regular expression here:" and "regex parsed fields:" and their related input boxes until the user actually enters something into the "regular expression pattern" box. That would make the new alias screen less complex for a beginner (who probably will start out making non-regex aliases)
5. above the big bottom Result(s) input box, maybe add a dropdown that contains some common commands and also keeps a list of the special modifier the user has created. Selecting a command/modifier would insert it at the cursor position in the big box.
6. make the word "help" in "see help for more info" a link that opens the help file (the part of it describing alias creation).
7. maybe decrease the width of the "group alias name" box (smaller boxes makes the interface look less cluttered I think.
8. maybe make "Example" into a link that for each click cycles to another example that illustrates different types of result(s) commands.

891
That sounds good!

892
I use this alias:
1000>>>mp3>->mp3 $$1 | dosearch +alb1_modifier +mp3_modifier $$1>+>^(?:mp|mp3) (\w.*)$

As you can see, the searchphrase mp3 something triggers a search in only the harddrive folders tied to the two modifiers (set in "Search Folder" options).

I want an alias that does just that AND also always return a link to one or more special folders (choosen by me) as the first match(es).

Example:

search: "mp3 beatles"

should return:
1. folder1
2. folder2
3. 01 beatles - I saw her standing.mp3
...

I think that kind of behaviour - being able to set one or more privileged matches that trumps whatever matching criteria the rest of the alias contains - could be useful in many other cases also.

Is it possible already without making a special plugin? If so, how?

893
Nah, I had used the DDEML function before so I really only needed to get the right DDE syntax for adding tracks. Once I had that then I spent more time writing the description for the script and packing it than writing the script itself actually ;D Anyway, let me know if you find any bugs.

Lanux128, try AHK_xmplay_input_to_playlist_DDEML   v080821

;-----------------------------------
; autohotkey script for silently adding to Xmplay playlist through DDE
;  takes file(s)/folder(s)/playlist(s) as input parameter
; - drop input on AHK_xmplay_input_to_playlist_DDEML.exe or
; - pass input as quote enclosed, space separated command line parameters
;  (use no end slash for folders!)
;   example: C:\AHK_xmplay_input_to_playlist_DDEML.exe "C:\musicfolder" "C:\music2\song.mp3"
;
; made by nod5 , version 080821
; using DDEML by sean, http://www.autohotke...orum/topic19169.html
;-----------------------------------

The attached zip includes:
68b207b3d1dca7511752b8fd8a2d3cac *AHK_xmplay_input_to_playlist_DDEML.ahk
390dc531993efe6af2ac7d271f2d8712 *AHK_xmplay_input_to_playlist_DDEML.exe

note: to add all input files one by one to Xmplay playlist through DDE took noticeably long time. To speed things up I let the script first make a temporary .pls playlist file containing all input files, then add the .pls to Xmplay though DDE, then delete the .pls. Xmplay automatically adds all files from the .pls.

note2: there might be some upper limit to the number of files or total length of the command line string that can be passed to the script, though I haven't looked into that (it is not built in by me but might be due to some limit in autohotkey or windows)

Find And Run Robot / Re: Hotkeys & FarrQuickView
« on: August 20, 2008, 02:16 PM »
@nitrix-ud: But after my proposed change those wanting a hotkey to start FARR and then operate on what is already on the clipboard can still just set "no clipboard copy" and then put %cliptext% something in the Search Edit Box, right? I haven't actually tried that but I assume that FARR reads whatever is on the clipboard only when it executes something with the %cliptext% variable in it. If I am right about that, then what is the point with keeping the current behaviour as an option?  :tellme:

896
As far as I know you can only use command line to open files (which clears any previous track from the playlist).
http://support.xmpla...om/article.php?id=35
Opening Files
This is done by giving the full path name to XMPlay. For example:
"c:\XMPlay.exe" "c:\Music\Garbage - Supervixen.ogg"
And multiple songs:
"c:\XMPlay.exe" "c:\Music\Garbage - Supervixen.ogg" "c:\Music\Creed - One.ogg"
Opening Folders
This is done by giving the full path of the directory to XMPlay. For example:
"c:\XMPlay.exe" "c:\Music\Ogg\"
And multiple directories:
"c:\XMPlay.exe" "c:\Music\Ogg\" c:\Music\Mp3\"

Adding files can be done through DDE via autohotkey. See the ahk source for my small scripts above for details and http://support.xmpla...om/article.php?id=17 . I also want to be able to add files to the xmplay playlist (specifically from the FARR plugin albumdisplayer that I've been working on) so I'll sooner or later try to make a small AHK script that just takes one or more file paths as input and then silently adds them to the xmplay playlist. If you don't make it first that is  ;D

Find And Run Robot / Re: Hotkeys & FarrQuickView
« on: August 19, 2008, 08:12 AM »
Here's another suggestion relating to the hotkeys - it is at least in the vicinity of this thread so I'll put it here instead of wasting space on an extra thread.

When using "copy selected text", let FARR clear the clipboard before copying the selected text.

That way, if the selected text isn't added to the clipboard (for some reason) then FARR will not accidentally go on to operate on whatever was on the clipboard prior to the hotkey press. Accidentally using prior clipboard content could be problematic if used with a plugin/alias that sends the (potentially sensitive) content to some website, for example via a google search alias or the ninjawords plugin, as illustrated here (note: I have changed the ninjawords plugin alias from "nw" to "df"):

FARR Plugins and Aliases / Re: Plugin: AlbumDisplayer (BETA)

AlbumDisplayer v080813 v080814
-- link removed, use newer version below -- (md5 ebb905356dd7aa7e3a27ece19302de1e)
changelog:
v080814
- folders with ' in path now works
v080813
- now trims all % in input to avoid FARR crash (example: "alb abc%" previously caused crash)
- special search phrase "alb *" displays all albums (first 100 then 50 more at each scroll to page bottom)
- ctrl+click album to open its folder

Let me hear your impressions on "alb *" - does it freeze FARR too long/too often?

CurrencyConverterMini v1.03.01
http://nod5.dcmember...cyconvertermini.html
Changelog:
fixed error with , or . in search.
removed conversion rate cache.

I hope I did a correct plugin pack. If not, let me know.
Also, is it ok if I rename this thread to "CurrencyConverterMini (plugin)"?

Living Room / Re: Skimp or splurge?

40hz: point taken. But I consider 20$ for a knife at least a semi-splurge. A decent IKEA knife goes for around 5$ you know ;)

I wish to file a friend-of-the-splurge brief for mousers tape splurge :) Tape, especially electrical tape, is one of the most handy things ever invented. Buy good quality stuff and buy enough to be able to have multiple rolls at various places around your house or apartment.

A general splurge rule: buy duplicates of small tools you use a lot and put in different places. That way you'll always have some close to hand and won't have to spend time searching for where you put them so often.
