General Software Discussion / Re: Battery Icon Stuck ???
« on: September 02, 2008, 11:50 AM »
well the problem reappeared again and I used your freezer tactic Darwin - kept in the freezer for a day.... Fantastic..... I do not know if the battery indicator will stuck at a certain percentage again after some time when I recharge it but I can say that it charged 5 times or more faster than before, the time after the battery became problematic... This is just an update for the members who would have battery problems.... It really seems to work !!!! really fast charge and no stuck battery icon !!!

Thank you Darwin for the reply... Actually a few hours ago I cleaned the battery metals with alcohol and it appeared to solve the problem.... But this would be a temporary solution as in the past it showed indications that it is solved and problem reappeared again..... So tomorrow or very soon I will apply your suggestion..... Thank you one more time.....

General Software Discussion / Battery Icon Stuck ???
« on: August 30, 2008, 10:10 AM »

Hello... Sorry for posting here as I did not see any hardware section....

My problem is, when charging the battery, sometimes it stucks at a certain % and stays there -- no longer appears to be charged.... I do not know if it is related to battery life but I have been using the laptop for 2 years and I used it more than 95% of the times plugged in (of course sometimes there can be power failure that activates the battery)..... Fo more than a year my laptop is 24/5 open except for the weekends.... But I still do not believe the life of the battery is ended because when it is charged 100%, then it works for nearly 2 hours without plug --- as it is in its first day.....

When the battery icon is stuck, I remove the battery, and try to clean the metal parts (I do not know if it is necessary or not) restart the computer and sometimes the problem is solved... Removing the battery and putting it back I guess is what solves the problem (no longer  stuck and charges).....

What can be done to solve the problem?.... Is it related to to the connector parts of the batter or notebook?... Or any solution you can provide?..

General Software Discussion / Re: Firefox 3

Thank you to all of you for the replies....
I will check tomorrow.....

Hm, deleting the "address bar history" would partially ruin one of FF3's best features - the AwesomeBar. If you aren't surfing on public computers or visiting reeeeally dubious sites, why would you want to clear the autocompletion stuff?

It is simply a matter of preference... No dubious sites .... or the worst ones like nosh  mention :)

Anybody know how the browsing history of Firefox in the address bar can bar can be deleted?....

Before the version 3.0, I used to have it delete them automatically when the browser closes....

But it no longer deletes the address bar history / auto completion.... "delete private data" does not do it too....

Any ideas?..

It is just because there are thousands of people where I work and the IT personnel does not want to deal with everyone so they just ignore such requests... If they start to accept anyones every request it will be unbearable to them... So I do not blame them...... They might not want to install software they do not know unless they know there is a compelling reason that it is necessary to install the software for work purposes.... As you know, not everyone knows what they install and besides the workload IT support installing for them they know there will be more workload later because of crashing computers.... So you either have to know a friend in the IT department or try solutions as I ask....

Is there any solution to install java without administrative power?... Like copying from another computer that has Java and pasting to the computer that we have no admin power?....

And is there any way to open a computer in Dos mode that we do not have admin power?...

Thank you Aignes... will try it soon...

he told there is no way to install if I am not the Admin...... I asked here for alternative techniques to install it as Martin Aisberger would think it would be inappropriate for him to tell....  I thought it would be nice to ask here as people would know some techniques to bypass Windows restriction.....

2) Try installing it to your documents and settings / username / application data folder
-mediaguycouk (May 18, 2008, 05:54 AM)

It does not work... as soon as I click on setup, It says you need admin rights and can not install...... and after clicking ok, it closes... so I do not come to the stage where it asks directory etc....

Thank you anyway for the reply.....

I am trying to install the website-watcher at work --- but it requires administrator privileges......

Is  there any way to bypass this?... Any techniques?....
