5727  Special User Sections / Site/Forum Features / Re: what's with the scroll-bars? on: October 11, 2006, 02:23:43 AM
Seems to only occur when opening pages in a new tab from a link (like the unread posts page)...and only this forum.
in my case, if i use the delete key or backspace key then the scrollbars will appear when previewed.

maybe we can start a poll to see how many are affected by these mystery scrollbars and whitespaces. Wink

5734  Special User Sections / Site/Forum Features / what's with the scroll-bars? on: October 10, 2006, 11:30:25 PM
have anyone noticed that sometimes the posts have scrollbars eventhough there is nothing to scroll? there isn't even a line-feed or hard return. in my case, i usually hit 'enter' twice to get rid of them. anyone with a better solution?

5736  DonationCoder.com Software / Post New Requests Here / Re: IDEA: screen saver that runs 24/7 regardless of user privileges? on: October 10, 2006, 09:43:09 PM
i'm not an expert on this but would something like "Drop My Rights" help?

Quote
DropMyRights is a very simple application to help users who must run as an administrator run applications in a much-safer context—that of a non-administrator. It does this by taking the current user’s token, removing various privileges and SIDs from the token, and then using that token to start another process, such as Internet Explorer or Outlook. This tool works just as well with Mozilla’s Firefox, Eudora, or Lotus Notes e-mail.

5739  DonationCoder.com Software / Screenshot Captor / configurable toolbar buttons on: October 09, 2006, 11:48:59 PM
mouser,

how about making the toolbar buttons configurable? if it's too troublesome then i'd like to request for an additional button for this menu item: "Create New Image File from Clipboard Image".

plus, also the ability to add separators for "External Tools" menu. Wink

5749  Main Area and Open Discussion / General Software Discussion / Re: What's wrong with XP's built-in firewall? on: October 04, 2006, 10:20:58 PM
Dont know if it is true but I read somewhere that Microsoft had planned to put in outbound control but usertests showed majority can not handle this feature, or dont want to bother with setting up rules for access, looking at pop-up warnings etc. They end up clicking randomly or better disable. Make sense to me even if not true.

you make a point there, dk70. even in ZA, i would just disable the pop-ups, instead of looking at each & every one of the warnings. the novelty quickly wears off after reading the 1st few of them. in any case, imo the program also should be able to analyse out-going data & detect any anomalies, instead of bombarding me with messages. but that level of AI seems a long way off.. Wink

Windows Firewall only offers inbound protection and is very good at that.
i didn't know that. thanks for the info, AdIyhc.

tks also Mizraim, for vote of confidence.. Wink
