5726  DonationCoder.com Software / Finished Programs / Re: DONE: Eject! on: March 21, 2006, 08:05:39 PM
It just perfectly does what I (rarely) need, it's free and easy to use - I don't care about the other features I don't use.

yes, i agree... i'm thinking of heading to AHK forum to check if anyone has a script on doing this. will post here if i find any... Wink
5727  Main Area and Open Discussion / General Software Discussion / Re: [GER/ENG] CLCL Clipboardmanager Forum on: March 20, 2006, 11:57:02 PM
CLCL can also be expanded by installing some plugins which are available on the page itself.

btw, Mr. Nakashima is also the author of nPOP, a tiny but effective POP3 email checker... sorry, off-topic. Wink
5728  Main Area and Open Discussion / General Software Discussion / Temporarily deactivate screensaver on: March 20, 2006, 10:19:19 PM
a potentially useful tool:
Quote
Use NoSleep! in order to enjoy DVDs without interruptions or to run the Disk Defragmenter undisturbed by the screen saver...

NoSleep! temporarily deactivates the screen saver and some of your computer's standby features (as far as they are controllable by software). It does so either by disabling those services through system calls or by emulating keyboard activity.

5732  Main Area and Open Discussion / Living Room / Re: fun kid friendly puzzle game - guide the cows home on: March 20, 2006, 07:39:17 PM
Kid game?? That means i'm stupid? Sad some levels further on became a bit too dificult for me :S
don't worry, there are web-sites which have posted screen-shots with the sequence completed for each & every level. Wink
I found this when I was searching to see if there was an english version of the game but as not to spoil the fun or to tempt me I didn't keep the link...
5733  Main Area and Open Discussion / General Software Discussion / Re: Must-have apps in the System tray? on: March 20, 2006, 07:29:45 PM
but MSGTAG Status is invaluable (tells when someone's read my email; great tech support).

5734  Main Area and Open Discussion / Living Room / Re: the first 20000 users - well done, mouser! on: March 20, 2006, 07:22:20 PM
At this moment, 20240 members, 19224 posts.  Does anyone but me find it sad that total number of members has consistently been running at about 1,000 higher than the total number of posts?

hmm... this makes me wonder, how many members have actually posted out of the 20k-plus? is there a way to find out?
5735  DonationCoder.com Software / Finished Programs / Re: DONE: Eject! on: March 20, 2006, 07:09:30 PM
actually, i use command-line tool called Eject to open/close a CD-ROM drive... this is mainly for batch files & automated scripts but once in a while when i'm going thru several CDs, it will be nice to have an icon in the system-tray that opens/closes in a button-click.

no offense, brotherS but tools like AbsoluteControl add too much feature for their own good that it ends up as an overkill...
5736  DonationCoder.com Software / Find And Run Robot / Re: typeadrun on: March 20, 2006, 06:53:09 PM
well, that's another launcher to the dumps... by run-box, i assume that you mean windows' run-box...
anyway since i started using f+rr, all others look a distant second and i'm not the one for eye-candy gui launchers. now if only f+rr has a feature for folder browsing...  Wink
5737  Main Area and Open Discussion / Living Room / Re: fun kid friendly puzzle game - guide the cows home on: March 20, 2006, 12:32:24 AM
yeah i agree, mouser. eventhough it's in german but this is a cool one... i had it on my pc some 6 months ago & it was fun. btw, there is a sequel called Winter Marathon.

5738  Main Area and Open Discussion / Living Room / Re: Unprotected Wireless Lans? on: March 20, 2006, 12:26:43 AM

i don't have wi-fi cards on my pc but i had to help out some friends of mine who have them...
here's one article that i always refer them to --> Why is Wireless Security Important?

5739  DonationCoder.com Software / Finished Programs / Re: DONE: Eject! on: March 19, 2006, 11:59:26 PM
jgpaiva:
what about a script that eject/retracts the cd-tray on demand? it will be useful to some of us...
5740  Main Area and Open Discussion / General Software Discussion / Re: Must-have apps in the System tray? on: March 19, 2006, 10:51:29 PM
Yes, there is. It can be reached at http://tales.namco.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=39275.

5741  DonationCoder.com Software / Find And Run Robot / Re: typeadrun on: March 19, 2006, 10:22:09 PM
reviving an old thread..

jgpaiva, can typeandrun show a file-browse window for the user to select the folders/files, much like windows' run box?

btw, the web-site seems to have expired, i had to d/l from softpedia...
5742  Main Area and Open Discussion / General Software Discussion / Re: Firefox Extensions: Your favorite or most useful on: March 19, 2006, 10:11:12 PM
Lanux, that was a pretty cool post!
How did you do that?  Professional secret?

dantheman:well by now, you'll know that it's no magic...  cheesy
5743  Main Area and Open Discussion / General Software Discussion / Re: Must-have apps in the System tray? on: March 19, 2006, 09:56:08 PM

5744  Main Area and Open Discussion / General Software Discussion / Re: Firefox Extensions: Your favorite or most useful on: March 16, 2006, 08:13:49 PM

lanux

5745  Main Area and Open Discussion / General Software Discussion / Re: New Color Picker / Color Selector application released on: March 16, 2006, 07:59:48 PM
it looks neat but i'm still playing around with it... btw, how about a 'green' version? you can put in just the exe minus the setup.

lanux

...it does look like they are slowly positioning themselves to take on the juggernaut eBay....

yes, apparently they want to be in internet what Microsoft already is consumer/corporate PC market... To quote Ampa, "Difficult to know whether that is a good thing or not..."

5747  Main Area and Open Discussion / General Software Discussion / Google's New Toy on: March 15, 2006, 11:20:44 PM
Google acquires Writely, a full-functioned, Ajax-based word processor that allows you to do most anything in your browser that you would be able to do with a machine-based program, short of a full-fledged office application. Full report here.

As Google adds yet another app to its arsenal of suites, will we be seeing a new trend here?
5748  Main Area and Open Discussion / Living Room / Re: How long will it take you to adopt Windows Vista as your OS? on: March 15, 2006, 10:17:18 PM
I just took the (slightly outdated) "What OS are you" quiz on BBSpot and (this is too creepy) guess what?...

haha.. this is quite interesting...  Thmbsup i came up with:

 ohmy ohmy

5749  Main Area and Open Discussion / General Software Discussion / Re: Must-have apps in the System tray? on: March 15, 2006, 06:17:18 PM
I was interested to see both AllChars and AHK.  I'd have thought that AHK would have removed the need for AllChars?

What's KatMouse?

i'm still learning to *harness* the powers of AHK... ;-) so I'm keeping AllChars as a backup...

Katmouse is a mouse-wheel enhancer. its key feature is:
Quote
moving the mouse wheel will scroll the window directly beneath the mouse cursor (not the one with the keyboard focus, which is default on Windows OSes).

5750  Main Area and Open Discussion / General Software Discussion / Re: Must-have apps in the System tray? on: March 15, 2006, 02:57:04 AM
Oh yeah, and of course I'm running the famous Miranda (http://www.donationcoder....um/index.php?topic=1201.0) 24/7 to enjoy some nice discussions in DonationCoder's IRC channel etc.

brotherS:
how do you login invisibly (if that's the correct term) with miranda? i can do it with yahoo/msn messenger but couldn't find a way in miranda... ;-)
