Experts-exchange you can see the answers if you visit the site via google search results. Some are actually good but as far as 'business model' goes it's pretty much anti-spirit-of-internet

Does that still work?  I'd read somewhere that this was because of the way that google cached the site, but they'd complained and google stopped caching certain sites.

I think all you've ever had to do is scroll to the bottom of the page to see the solutions.

7.0b is out!

That came out last year.   ;D

That's the thing with good software, I don't mind paying for it if it's the best and I'm using it a lot.

Right on.   8)

What are the safe parameters ?  I tried googling  " Safe Temps ' and found a range of 20 to 65 C.  Seems pretty big spread to me.

I think the max temp varies with the processor model.

Make sure you don't put your laptop directly on your lap or on a cushion - either can block the airflow.  I think a riser is essential, not so sure about the extra fan (though I do use one).

Ninety-nine percent of my work is done using a text editor.

Same here.  That's why I don't feel qualified to evaluate the ribbon.   ;)

While I don't see Tab Candy as likely to play a role in my future browsing activity, it does look pretty neat.  I thought the sales pitch was fun to listen to, one time.

Thanks.   :)

I thought the results shown on the left side were organic search results rather than the purchased (AdWords) variety, which display on the right.

Oops - now I see the "Sponsored Link".

I bought some version of Xara after you mentioned a really big discount on it some here some years ago and I've regretted it ever since. I never could get them to stop sending me promotions and advertisements, despite numerous unsubscribe requests.

My experience as well.

The reason it does that is because sovereign immunity doesn't play out too well politically.

The Pope is learning about that.

Macecraft has historically been anything but greedy.  Freeware for years, JV16 Power Tools is now a modest $29.95.  Yearly upgrade fees are $6.95.  This is their (pretty damn relaxed) policy on licensing for personal users.  There's no activation or other baggage.

"A single personal license can be used with up to five personal computers at your home if the computers are mainly used only by you or the members of your family."

I'm amazed by how many people write me for lost keys for my own software.  You would think that people who make their livings with computers would keep backups.

BootIt NG can be installed into its own 8MB partition, which you can choose to boot from by holding a key down after you turn on the computer.  Windows never runs, no problems.  This is nice for my netbook.

You can also boot from a CD (again, no Windows), or make an image while Windows is running (never tried it).

88
But what is this on the Macecraft website?

Your post implies that this is a time of war.

Seems to me that it's a "time of war", even though it might not be a declared war.  For my money, hundreds of thousands of dead and maimed people are proof enough.

Our government has always been skeptical about freedom and civil liberties, especially in time of war.  Only the technology has changed.

Why is every year 1984 lately?

Why does every political event or medical event, or even current event, spawn a dozen different conspiracy theories?

I think that many men, having already committed one violent crime and with the Rape-aXe securely locked on, would be very likely to do some serious harm to the woman.

I've used BootitNG (Terabyte) for 5+ years for imaging, partition work, and boot management.  It's been absolutely reliable.  The only possible downside is that it doesn't hold your hand as much as some programs - the interface is "geekier" and there are more options available than most of us will be able to take advantage of.

There are nice video turorials on the website and great support via email and newsgroup.

94
Because of this relatively scientific approach, there's no more guesswork in identifying the boot-up criminals, and because Soluto times your boot-up by component I now know that (for example):

    * ZoneAlarm's True Vector Internet Monitor takes a whopping 46 seconds in boot-up.
    * Windows' System takes 62 seconds.
    * MS Anti-malware takes 53 seconds.
    * Clipboard Help and Spell takes 9 seconds.
    * FARR takes 7 seconds

My XP Pro system with Directory Opus, avast! 5, ClipCache Pro, Stickies, UK Kalender, Taskbar Shuffle, and Process Lasso took a minute and seven seconds.  I think I'll leave it alone.

but that might take hours or days

Or months or years, depending on the password.   :(

Trying to go beyond the dozen or so keyboard shortcuts I use constantly in UltraEdit would overtax my aging brain cells in a hurry.  No way could I use them for a file manager, no matter how efficient they might be in the right hands.

His accent isn't a problem for my American ears, but the application doesn't look like something I want to spend any time with.

I click the button to check for updates (14), and it only takes a few seconds plus a Firefox restart.
