f0dder, no its not bad, if you research the question, you will find it's not bad to drink it.. (some thing I done when I was worried if it was bad to drink as much vinegar as I did.. lol)

I love vinegar, I can eat any food with it, and yes, I usually drink a few mouth fulls with my meals cheesy
(not to mention sauce, sauce and vinegar, I don't think I would eat as much with out them.. )

edit: I drink regular vinegar.. this vinegar made especially for drinking, never tried that tho.. I'm happy with my V, I don't drink drink it, but with meals I have a substantial amount tongue

Hi Babis, yeah AceText is a really great program  Thmbsup

To answer your questions in one answer, sorry I don't know tongue but for sure you can email the program author and ask, and request new features, etc. and usually you'll get a quick response.

I've played with clipmate minimally, but yeah, clipmate does a whole lot of other stuff, AceText just deals with plain text.. Although some RTF wouldn't hurt smiley) .. It gets a bit boring looking at just the plain text and feels like a mess.. maybe its just me.. tongue

138  Main Area and Open Discussion / Living Room / Re: Who else is sick of difficult word verifications on the web? on: March 21, 2008, 04:42:39 AM
It's up to the developer to make user friendly products (just like software [annoyances], bad practices, etc.).. If the captcha is done correctly, then it shouldn't be too much of a problem to pass.. Then again, they (some developers) try not to make it too easy, for obvious reasons.

Some captcha's won't make you think angry thoughts, and some will.. What can ya do?  tongue

Nirsoft, Sysinternals, and a few others.. gotta love these tools Wink Power users must know about these tools!
140  Main Area and Open Discussion / Living Room / Re: Who else is sick of difficult word verifications on the web? on: March 17, 2008, 02:21:55 AM
I'm sure they're sick of you too! But hey, I too have some trouble with them every now and then (Captcha's).. And there to make it a better place right? Yeah but there are always haters in every thing!

Like you have people complaining about spam, people trying to combat spam, then once they make some steps forward other people bitch about the methods used and how hard they can be some times (Captcha's).. But yeah, there is always at least 2 sides, it's called balance, and it's needed to make the world go around, after all every thing can't be perfect now can it? lol /rant

Hmm, I've always had the idea of my start up programs starting by a key held down or toggled on.. And here we go cheesy

So I can boot up my box, login to xp, and have caps/num/etc on or off, to get programs to start up? Like normal startup procedures?

142  Main Area and Open Discussion / Living Room / Hi I am a software addict, I need extra gb's, can anyone help my problem? on: February 26, 2008, 03:09:01 AM
Hi my name is mitzevo and I am a software addict, some times I think I spend more time playing around with software than actually using it for its purpose, for instance, I try test at least 3 apps from one category (ftp programs, text editors, etc.), it really is time consuming, but I'm just trying to find the best for myself and now I have no GBs!.. Can any one help me? I need extra GB's to store more softwares.. cmon guys, just email me how many GB's you want to help me out with and I will be happy to accept any thing! But I also store alot of (questionable?) things as well.. so yeah.. help me out with extra GB's!

143  Main Area and Open Discussion / General Software Discussion / Re: Microsoft Visual Web Developer 2008 Express. Thoughts? on: February 23, 2008, 01:28:22 PM
I tried it.. It's not bad (and its code production is pretty clean.. should be in this age..) and pretty stream lined..apart from no decent templates, not even a mention of PHP any where.. i.e., not even a basic .php template.. How pathetic.. even for this free version.. Looks like m$ wants you to use their stuff (as usual).. but very very good for.. free smiley
144  Main Area and Open Discussion / Living Room / Re: Best forums for.... on: February 08, 2008, 05:42:36 AM
There's thousands of good forums out there.. and of course you are asking opinions of others.. prepare to get any thing and every thing.. You can only be apart of so many and make use of it... with that said.. DC is the best (of course any body who says best is their own opinion..) for Software discussions (like the best of the best software Wink.. and for other categories you are going to get a lot of different bests.. you know why? because the best is what you make of it!

145  Main Area and Open Discussion / Living Room / Re: OK - lets get to know each other... who are you, what do you do, where from? on: February 06, 2008, 09:50:44 AM
Hi my names mitzevo and I'm a DC junkie Sad I've tried to do away with the habit but I can't help my self.. I guess you could call me DC'aholic.. Or in plain terms software junkie, but I prefer DC junkie, I don't know why, other people say I scare them at times.. I just need to relax, they say.

 Cry

edit:

And welcome Denny! I'm glad you find DC worth the time for writing such a good intro smiley

P.S., why does God never call me? Sad . perhaps my phone is turned off.. hehe j/k smiley Welcome welcome, DC is the best!

There are a lot of people that donated to the site that have never made a single post. They have contributed and deserve to win just as much as anyone else.
Well then you add in a check to see if user has donated..

edit: so that's in effect then.

Quote
the problem with basing things on posts is that people might start posting just to reach that threshold
Yeah, it's quite obvious when people are trying to get their post count up (*cough*)..

So I guess my idea is null and void now.. lol.. I forgot about the people who donated / contributed offsite / etc and didn't make any posts here at the forum.
But if they can't even make one post and want to enter the comps.. shame on them.
147  News and Reviews / Official Announcements / Re: January 2008 Software Drawing Winners on: January 27, 2008, 07:42:03 AM
ps1.
I'm happy to have more suggestions on how the prize optimizer could be tweaked -- so send me your suggestions!
I think people with less than 25 posts shouldn't be able to enter. So they don't imbalance all the others who actually contribute and etc.

ps2.
Due to Jibz' excellent detective work, users Darwin, superboyac, and dcm have been placed on the permanent BAN list and shall never win another prize  Grin  Please direct all hate mail to jibz and send him a nice big poisonous attack creature.  (just joking!)

Lolol. I actually asked today in IRC if any body had won more than 2 or 3 prizes.. smiley And now Jibz has done some good snooping and presented the facts smiley

148  News and Reviews / Mini-Reviews by Members / Re: xplorer², a powerful windows file manager and explorer replacement / alterna on: January 27, 2008, 02:23:09 AM
The most important thing about this new development is that I need mitzevo to tell me the name of the visual style he is using in that screenshot, since it looks cool, and that would prove useful in the long term for a great number of people.

It's a Windows theme / Visual style from DeviantArt, called Clearlooks 0.6 Black by ~hsn , there are a few (or many) other variations with different colors, etc.

It's based of GNOME - nice and clean, oh and rounded corners is a nice change smiley

Btw, Nighted was the one who made me discover it  Kiss Cheers Nighted.

and..

I just have to say again I am happy about being able to change icons in x² smiley Looks sooooo much better. Now I am not jealous of XYplorer smiley

Congrats winners! .. and congrats to myself for my 300th post.. wooo. Now I'll just go cry about not winning any thing for ages  Thmbsup

edit: joking of course.. /me wipes tears away ..  Grin
150  Main Area and Open Discussion / General Software Discussion / Re: Do you use a light or a dark background in your editor for programming? on: January 27, 2008, 01:07:12 AM
I usually use the editor default [colors], and If I'm lucky enough to config colors I ... hey wait I don't.

When I was trying out E I noticed the default (iirc) color scheme was black bg and different colors (or perhaps I changed to this one..). At first it was unusual, but then after trying it for a while I realized it makes editing files so much easier (very much like to do with the syntax hi-lighting), for example you go to edit a .ini file in E, it's so easy to tell sections and variables from stuff you don't need to concern your self with.. So I think colors definitely help if set up correctly smiley

So.. some people use dark and light, or light on dark. I myself haven't joined any side yet tongue
