not sure if there's been a solution or not (it's vewy vewy quiet out there...)

Apologies, Lanux128 and Target.  I've been busy with Trout code, PlayTime code, both daughter's soccer games and my own hockey games.  =]  It looks like Target has you well in hand.

I updated to the latest edition and now "Do not show Toaster when Main Window is Active" will not stay selected in my options. That is, it remains checked until I press the OK button in the Options. But when I open the options up again, the option is unchecked.

Fixed.  Update.  Thanks.   :-[ :-[

v1.0.2 build 236
    + Added "Enable/disable Last.fm" to the playlist's Last.fm context menu.
+ Added Last.fm icon to the statusbar.  Single-clicking on it will toggle between a red
icon (Last.fm enabled) and a grey icon (Last.fm disabled).  Right-clicking it will
bring up the same Last.fm menu as above.
+ Added an option for a configurable number of seconds to rewind when resuming from
a pause state.  Leave it set at zero (0) to turn it off.  [Thanks, brotherS]

Clicking on the toaster popup will immediately get rid of it.
I'll add it as an option.  Thanks.

Two issues with the scrollbars which nobody has remarked so far, maybe it only happens on my pc.

When I click on the scrollbar slider the listview colors get inverted. Also if I press on scrollbar to move quicker throughout the listview content and release the mouse the slider keeps displacing on its own until I move the mouse off the scrollbar.
Does this happen EVERY time?  Can you provide a screenshot, please?

I recall this being long-standing AHK issue.  I'm trying to find some older AHK forum threads that discuss this.

you mean the command-line and the drag-n-drop thing?
No, I meant the alt-tab icon issue (which I believe I have fixed).

also how about a hi-res icon for the alt-tab view instead of the current one (see pic). :)
Hehe, I thought about mentioning that too. :D
Does it appear to be fixed for you?

Download: PlayTime

New additions:

  • Merged all necessary files into one executable.
  • New program icon.
  • Double-clicking a row will run/play that file.
  • In addition to the total time for everything in the list, the total time for the highlighted selection is now shown in the statusbar.
  • Context/right-click menu for the listview (mimics the Edit menu).

Let me know what you think.  Thanks.

a pre-emptive vote against any possibility of changing that to a double click (to bring it from the tray)

I'll make the number of tray clicks an option at some point.

there's an existing Winamp plugin by Lyrc that does this. why not incorporate this plugin into Trout, might save some time.

Thanks.  I'll probably be using LyricWiki.org, though, since I already have working code based on the help I gave in this AHK forum thread here.

skwire: can this be extended for files stated in the command-line of Trout? i use a Farr alias to search for songs and load them into Trout.
e.g. Trout.exe "C:\My Mp3s\some_song.mp3"
right now, the newly-added files are inserted at the bottom of the listview, which is good most of the times but some options would be nice. :)

I assume you would just want it to work like it does for the listview i.e. obey the setting you've chosen?

Is it just me or can we not remove a song from the playlist with delete key? That would be a nice feature to add.

Mouser and I fixed this in the latest build (v1.0.2.208).  I added the numpad delete key to that routine.  =]

a minor idea: when choosing to save a new playlist, maybe use the info from the first song (artist/album) as default name?

Won't be hard to add.  Thanks.

Option request: "rewind on resume" - user would be able to define an amount of seconds Trout would rewind the file when you resume listening (from pause mode).

Added to the ToDo.  Thanks.

IDEA for new playback setting
Shuffle (or Random) with manual override :-)

Added to the ToDo.  I'll try to come up with a way to smoothly implement this.  I'm thinking maybe a "Playback follows highlight" or something like that.

Bug Report:

When starting Trout up again, it brings the playlist to the about the correct position to keep the currently playing track visible, except the currently playing song is actually just one above the visible area. In other words, you have to scroll up the playlist window one spot to see the currently playing song.

Fixed in the latest build.  Thanks.

There is this bug when you use media keys in logitech keyboard the song you change from keeps playing when the the song you change to starts playing

Hey, Hezzu.  Nice to see you here.  In the last build that I just uploaded, there is an option to enable/disable those media keys.

Latest build:

v1.0.2 build 211
+ Made it so the numpad's delete key will work like the regular delete key.  [Thanks, mouser]
+ Added handling for media keys on Logitech keyboards (Play/pause, Stop, Next,
      Prev, Vol up/down).  [Thanks, mouser]
+ Added "Enable media keys by default" option to the Options, Hotkeys dialog.
! Fixed an HTML decoding issue on WPL files.  [Thanks, app103]
! Fixed a TR/TE display issue with the toaster popup.  [Thanks, Deozaan]
! Fixed a sizing issue when restoring from the tray/minibar if "Minimize on startup"
      was checked.  [Thanks, Deozaan]

Coeluh, due to other commitments, I may not be able to get to this Snack anytime soon.  If anybody else has the time, go for it.  I'll keep it on my list and hope that I can get to it in the future.

Slick batch command, scancode.  Nice.

reddie247, if the commandline isn't your thing, I've whipped together an AHK script with a GUI if you're interested.

Do any of the other shortcut keys work for you?  Ctrl-a to select all, F3 to bring up the search window, etc.?

5319
From what you suggested in the last post, are you concerned simply with fixing long filenames or foldernames regardless of their parent path?  Is that correct?

absolutely, that is what i want. :)

I think we're on the same page now.  Now, since there will be the ability to rename folders, I'd like to restrict this tool to working with only one given folder (and its subfolders) at a time.  The reason is that, if you rename a folder, I can do a simple rescan of the working path to refresh the listview contents.  Does this make sense?  Would this be acceptable?

P.S. let me know if you want me to pop by the chat-room to discuss some more..
I'm there almost all the time.  =]

5320
Even better.  Thanks.

5321
Yes, I plan to clean it up...new icon, basic File, Edit, and Help menus, etc.  I was thinking about renaming it to MediaTotalTimer unless anybody else has a better idea.

5322
1) A user enters a path to a folder where (mulitple) tv shows are around.
2) The multimedia files will be scanned and based on filenames
3) more information will be downoaded with the You could see the hierarchy as a tree: TV Show - Season - Episode
4) The app should not run in full screen by default (maybe an option for later on). The most important part is the UI. I want it to be simple but sleek and smooth.
5) The most important part is: When you clicked a file to start playing it, it does open in a custom external media player.

Some thoughts:
1) Easily doable.
2) Are your filenames done according to a personal scheme?  Or, do they follow the typical scene standard e.g. Some.TV.Show.s01e04.avi (the "s01e04" being the important part).
3) I haven't looked into the API much but the fact they even have one bodes well for something like this.
4) Hmmm...full-screen?  I was envisioning just a typical Windows application look.  Did you have something else in mind?
5) Easy.

5323
Based on your counting requirements, and talking with mouser, I think I see where my confusion lies.  I've been basing my thoughts and assumptions that you are concerned with fixing full path length or, at the very least, relative path length issues.  From what you suggested in the last post, are you concerned simply with fixing long filenames or foldernames regardless of their parent path?  Is that correct?

5324
Apologies, I am still unclear as to how you want to count the path length.  You've mentioned counting folders and files differently but there will never be only a folder in a given listview row.  Every row will be a file of some sort.  In other words, this is not intended as a folder renamer, only a filename renamer.  Are we on the same page with regard to that?  For instance, based on what you said above, you want it like this:

file_1.exe  | \
file_4.ext  | \subfolder_1\
file_7.ext  | \subfolder_2\

What you want is easily doable in a GUI sense.  However, the following will never happen:

file_1.exe  | \
file_4.ext  | \subfolder_1\
file_7.ext  | \subfolder_2\
subfolder_3 | \subfolder_3\    <--- This can't happen.

If a folder is empty, nothing gets added to the listview.  Does that make sense?

So, with all that in mind, I still need to know how you want these lengths counted.  Maybe I'm not seeing the forest for the trees on this one.   :P

Hi SKWire,

What in the world is "Trout" program in your Sig all about!?!?  What does it do?

Thanks!

Best darn audio player ever!   ;D

I'm not sure if I'd ever go that far.  =]  Gonwk, Trout is a small, freeware audio player that I've written.  Feel free to try it out and let me know what you think.
