Finished Programs / Re: IDEA: Switch Filenames
« on: June 07, 2009, 08:29 AM »
Maybe the files are not in the same folder, and not by that not selectable at the same time. One by one dropping would be cool.

Try build 6.  You now have two drop methods available:
  • You can drag-n-drop one file on to each of the edit fields
  • You can drag-n-drop two files anywhere on the form.

Give Switcheroo a try and see if it's what you had in mind.

Post New Requests Here / Re: IDEA: GUI enhanced start up delayer
« on: June 03, 2009, 10:25 AM »
I've had this idea since DOS had the option to provide a delayed startup of it's config.sys and autoexec.bat files via a keyboard click.

And ever since I found Startup Delayer from r2 studios I've been using it, and it's great.
The editing GUI is actually fantastic, although some tweaks would be even better, bet overall it's fantastic, and cover everything needed.

But....
The startup launching GUI is a bit too simplistic, and could be enhanced with a simple functionally which is currently missing:

Gal, have you approached the original author of this app?  That might be the easiest way to get your ideas implemented.

There's something very strange with trout and something else I install.
I tried it on XP 32, the window shows up in taskbar, but does not come to front.
same on windows server 2008 64.
I have no idea what could cause this!
I have to kill the window with right click + close on task bar.

You reported this issue in this thread back on Jan 30, 2009.  Several suggestions were offered but I don't recall seeing a reply from you after that.
Also, you reported something similar way back on December 22, 2007 here: https://www.donation...ex.php?topic=11455.0  and said that you had found the culprit in TrayIt.

I can't seem to play audio CD's in Trout.

Uhhhh....errrrmmm....hmmmm...maybe try v1.0.3 build 26 and we'll just forget this ever happened.   :P

Lately, I've been trying to improve Trout's internet streaming capabilities.  The latest build adds support for ASX/WMA/AAC streams.  Please let me know if you encounter issues with any streams.

v1.0.3 build 25
+ Support for ASX/WMA internet streams and their tags (if present).
+ Added a second search button to the lyrics window.  Now, you can search
an artist specifically without having to blank out the title field.
    * Improvements to playlist parsing routines for streaming URLs.

v1.0.3 build 11
! Fixed the lyrics window not showing on startup properly.  (Thanks, lanux128)

v1.0.3 build 7
! Fixed toaster not disappearing on click when set that way.  (Thanks, app103)

Also, I've been working on a Shoutcast/Icecast radio station browser.  Here's where it's at so far:

I must've broken that with the last build since that's the way it used to work.  I'll fix it.

5214
I spent a whole weekend tagging and searching covers, and Covart Explorer was a great help. :D

Great to hear.

One thing I think could make it a bit better still would be to have a list below the cover, where other image files are listed. In many cases, I found that I did have the covers in some shape or form, be it as a whole scanned booklet, special edition cover, promo stickers or whatever else they manage to add to an album.

Something like this?

Anyhow yeah, that was a little derail. Thanks for a great app, it served its purpose well - I just hope I can manage to keep on top of my covers from here on forth or I'll end up coming back for more... :D

You're welcome; I'm glad I was able to help out.

Skwire, I'd be very interested in the AHK script, can you post it?

Quickie bugfix build:

v1.0.3 build 6
! Fixed (hopefully) lyrics window position saving bug.

5218
Sorry skwire but I think I'm bringing up a worthy competitor.
Itunes Store validator Is the killer app for missing covers. And it gets 600x600 covers, from itunes (as high quality as one can get).
Disadvantage: you need to install itunes :(
Thanks for the link, though, I'm not competing with anybody or anything.  I'm simply writing an app to the OP's specifications.

5219
Anything else?  Automatic saving/loading of the list?  Export list to CSV?  Etc., etc.

5220
How about the middle road and scan for the image dimensions after you have scanned for all the files?
The delay is hardly noticeable.  I just wanted to let you know of it.

Edit: Ah, another request... Some albums are of the format Album\Disc 1, Album\Disc 2, with the cover art in Album. At some spots I think I might have Disk 1/Disk 2 spelling, or even CD. I guess spaces might vary too...
In addition to the audio file type list I mentioned earlier, a folder will be considered an album folder if it contains at least one of the following image types: jpg, png, gif, or bmp
I think that's about the only way to handle this issue.

Please re-download: CovArt Ops

I feel like I'm getting some sort of special treatment due to those silly "quotes". :D
Okay, no more quotes.

Edit: Can you make it so the resolution column also has the resolution of the 'from tags' variety?
I can certainly add this but it will slow down the scanning since the image needs to be extracted temporarily from the audio file before I can get its dimensions.  Is this acceptable?

5222
Could that image with the tag possibly have some splitter control to resize it, and perhaps have it put on the left side of the window rather than the right?
You're correct, it ought to be on the left.  I'll move it.  BTW, you can double-click the image to bring it up in your default image viewer.  Also, I implemented the "Rescan selected rows" and "Rescan entire list" buttons.

Please re-download: CovArt Ops

Btw, is there a reason it is "worstje" in the about box? It seems so silly. :)
I like to give credit where credit is due.  Your idea...your credit.  I can take it out if you'd like.  =]

5223
Cover art tag reading has been implemented in build 26 (I hope... *crosses fingers* =]).  Only minimal testing has been done so please give it a thorough thrashing.  I've got another hockey game tonight so I'll check back in a few hours.

CovArt Ops

5224
I tried to improve the criteria by which it determines that a given folder is an "album folder."  Basically, a folder is only considered if it contains at least one of the following file types:

mp3, ogg, flac, wv, wav, mpc, ape, wma, mp4, m4a, tta, tak, shn

Art in tags is not implemented yet.  Please re-download and let me know if this version works better for you.

nice work with the lyrics window.. can you make it snap to the right-edge of the main window? currently it opens at top-left.

I use allSnap for making windows snap together.  The lyrics window should save its position if you resize it.  I need to fix the bug that doesn't save if you only move it (and don't resize it).
