Living Room / Re: The boy who lived before

After viewing the TV documentary, I thought that they gave a fair assessment of the story. However, the "Sun" article was all hype. I didn't realize that the "Sun" is not a REAL newspaper. ;D

“Cameron has never spoken about dying to me. But he told his pal not to worry about dying, because you just come back again.

“When I asked him how he ended up with me, he tells me he ‘fell through and went into my tummy.’

Morbid way of presenting goal setting techniques, but interesting.

Developer's Corner / Re: Ruby executable
« on: July 20, 2006, 04:01 PM »
Also, here is a Python, Ruby, Java, C++ shoot out that I found very interesting.
Too bad perl wasn't included in this comparison.

Link to side by side comparison
http://www.dmh2000.c...m/cjpr/cmpframe.html

C++ vs Java
Java garbage collection is the big productivity gain
Java is significantly slower than C++
C++ is (much) harder to code correctly than any of the others
Java vs Python/Ruby
Python/Ruby interpreted execution and dynamic typing are big productivity gains over Java.
Python/Ruby are slower than Java
Python/Ruby programs need less extraneous scaffolding (cleaner code)
There are two important tradeoffs : [interpreted vs. compiled] and [static vs. dynamic typing]
Python vs. Ruby nearly equivalent

Link to make your ruby script into executable.

I tried Ruby recently, and I like it! Ruby is like the crazy Uncle who will let you do what ever you want.

I tried this one today, and immediately removed it.

ET calls home even after I told it not to.
