If you want to play with the latest source, you can now fork from Bitbucket:
https://bitbucket.org/svandragt/hashreplace

I'll keep posting executable releases in this topic when they're available.

too cynical? "Yes we respect your privacy settings and for your convenience here is a overarching layer to bypass it."
79  Main Area and Open Discussion / General Software Discussion / Re: corrupt index (I think): how to fix? on: June 22, 2012, 04:29:38 AM
Bad clusters is a sign of problems; I've personally never seen so many. Don't store anything new on that drive, get all important information off that you still scan, don't know what the issue is - but do know you cannot trust anything on that drive. Personally I'd swap it and test it for a week see if the problem is just local to that drive you swapped out. If so bin it.
80  Main Area and Open Discussion / General Software Discussion / Re: DropBox to drop support for Public folder (no more direct links) on: June 18, 2012, 12:04:02 PM
If you actually tried to create a link from any file outside the public folder, you will find that yes you can create a link to the file, but it will load the dropbox webpage including a download button to the actual file.

Very arrogant, interesting way to say fuck you to potential customers. Nothing wrong with a regular message or graceful degredation?
82  Main Area and Open Discussion / General Software Discussion / Re: DropBox to drop support for Public folder (no more direct links) on: June 15, 2012, 06:53:58 AM
existing users keep Public folders. It seems they are trying to stop direct linking to files.
83  Other Software / Developer's Corner / Re: Help me think of a small ipad app idea to code on: June 15, 2012, 03:51:00 AM
Isn't this the worst problem with iOS -- that it can only update one thing at a time? Android/google can update everything constantly, from apps to widgets to schedules, email, calendar, alarms, etc.
No that's incorrect, have a look at this:
http://speirs.org/blog/20...out-ios-multitasking.html

Also now you can geofence your location so that your app can do things when you arrive / leave at a certain location (home / work etc).
84  Other Software / Developer's Corner / Re: Help me think of a small ipad app idea to code on: June 14, 2012, 04:32:20 AM
Now you have an ipad feel free to ignore Renegade tongue
From what I hear, use Xcode not other frameworks, as you will still have to learn the API's anyway but debugging becomes a lot harder, and other frameworks need to be updated after new OS releases to stay in sync. Apparently in a few days you will get used to the different syntax. Most of the time goes in learning the APIs.

Possible miniapp idea:
Lazy workday clock - A clock that runs slow in the mornings and fast in the afternoon. Always wanted one on the wall, but an interactive one would be fun. Take your time in the morning and finish early.

Good luck, let us know how you get on.
85  Main Area and Open Discussion / General Software Discussion / WebPage notes on: June 14, 2012, 04:16:37 AM
Am looking for a service that allows you to annotate pages and see these overlaid on the page. For example for webpages containing installation instructions for wordpress you could open up the annotations of yourself and other people with issues/fixes they encountered whilst installing the page, and you could add your own annotations to read back in case you need to reinstall it.

Currently, I forget about any notes I take locally as they're not linked to the page, my annotations are longer than sticky notes (for which browser plugins exist), and none of these solutions are social - I might find that other people have already solved the issue I am struggling with. I know of StumbleUpon, but it has a completely different aim and therefore different audience. (from what I can see)

Does such a thing exist?

86  Main Area and Open Discussion / General Software Discussion / Re: In search of ... opinions on code snippet libraries on: June 14, 2012, 03:20:03 AM
I suspect that's as much a matter of taste as of circumstance.  If you're in a fixed [spatial] position, or can rely upon always having network access, a VCS could work, especially if you're part of a team.  However, if you're solo, hopping around, frequently lack Internet access, then something on a stick would be a bit more tenable.
That's why there is distributed version control. Does not require network access, would fit fine on a stick.

I prefer version controlled libraries to code snippets, I haven't used any for years, should I?
88  Main Area and Open Discussion / Living Room / Re: If you are a LinkedIn user, then change your password pronto. on: June 07, 2012, 04:40:15 PM
Don't type your password into random websites (leakedin)
Hi, Justice.  I'm not really sure what you mean.  Do you mean "enter your password some other way rather than typing it in"?  Or do you mean that LinkedIn (which I agreed to join and for which I have set a specific password) is a "random website"??  tellme
The leakedin website lets you type in your password, and it will check to see if it has been leaked by linkedin. I say don't type your passwords into any other website than the one it belongs to.

93  Other Software / Developer's Corner / Re: Visual Studio 11 Express to only build Metro apps on: May 25, 2012, 04:35:02 AM
Not a big problem, any serious developer writing a windows desktop app will have no problem paying for Visual Studio.
If the philosophy is that the future is metro, people starting out now should write for metro.

If that is the case then, why not split it into Windows Metro and remove the whole desktop part of it, with Windows 8 Enterprise that has desktop only.

With Sublime Text, you can fold/unfold any text you have selected with the mouse (ctrl-shift-[)
97  DonationCoder.com Software / Finished Programs / Re: PutAside: declutter and cycle through windows on: May 18, 2012, 06:45:35 AM
I've updated PutAside today (1.12). Thanks to Ath. PutAside is now no longer incorrectly flagged by Anti Virus software and includes the latest DcUpdater helper utility for update checking.

I've also put the source on github so you can submit pull requests with your source code changes. Because of this, the zip file no longer includes source files.
98  Main Area and Open Discussion / General Software Discussion / Re: Trello - Project / Todo Management on: May 18, 2012, 05:03:00 AM
Yes I have to add I'm part of a team of two web developers with a manager, so 3 people using this board smiley It's not a helpdesk / ticketing system, it's more higher level it can replace those "status meetings" where you get asked what you did all week and where you are with such and such project.

Noone here using trello?

Trello is a collaboration tool that organizes your projects into boards. In one glance, Trello tells you what's being worked on, who's working on what, and where something is in a process.

I'm using it at work to keep an overview of all the projects that we are working on, and it is really intuitive like that.
We use one board. We currently have 6 lists (Inbox, in planning, in progress, in testing, done, postponed). 3 labels (scheduled, priority, nice to have). Each project is a card, it belongs optionally to one or more labels, but always to one of the lists.

With the features of activity messages, checklists and due dates this allows us to keep on top of things. It works well in addition to a helpdesk because there are no reports options and it's not a communication tool.

I have had VM for close to two years and I haven't noticed this. Give VM a call they will send out an engineer to you free of charge. My box starts distorting the audio after being on for a few hours, simply putting it into standby and back on fixes it. They also have a good support forum if you are not in a hurry.
