Have you checked that utility to ensure it works?
The Opera help file says this:
Quote
Master Password

To prevent other people from using your certificates, you can set a master password with strong 168-bit triple DES encryption.

You will then be asked to enter your master password when you want to use your certificates.
Select a password that is impossible to guess and keep it secret
Set Opera to ask for the master password every time needed if other people have access to your computer or user account

You can also use the master password to protect your e-mail, news, and Wand passwords.
Would be hard to unwand? Or does this mean that without a master password all the wand password are unsecure?

The main reason for the switch back was that I think Firefox is more useful for web research with integration with notetaking tools, delicious tagging, etc.

1753  DonationCoder.com Software / Post New Requests Here / Re: Software AutoUpdater -- Experimental Software Autoupdating on: May 16, 2007, 10:07:51 AM
Hmm do you think I should focus on developers supporting and supplying the 'configuration' (big word for some as simple as what it is) file or make it as easy as possible for end-users to add in apps? Would be interesting to hear.

For example one way of doing it would be for smallware authors to provide a latest.php link like discussed in another thread and an ini file themselves. (fully decentralised auto update)
Another way would be for me to have a database with application configuration files (semi centralised auto update) that can be recognised.
Or add in a possibility for end users to specify  download locations to monitor (manual personal update)

I wonder how many people would stop using the app when it goes from $0 to $1. (the fact of paying for an app and the 'cubersome' proces of doing so). That's why donationcoder does it right. You don't mind going through the cubersome process once if you can then pay multiple times. Maybe mouser should licence the micropayment system!  Thmbsup

Kiss It works! now I have to stop the habit of checking the forum manually...

tellme Oh, and a feature request to keep you off the streets Wink Could you make it somehow that I could switch between:

Thanks so much cheesy

Maybe by allowing us experts to change the RSS feed the notifications are based on? (don't know if that would work)

Ah I see. I'm running vista. You're only allowed to create a file in the root directory when run as administrator passing through UAC.
If you could change it to the Temporary files environment variable %temp% then it would run as normal user.

A file doesn't get created otherwise.

Hey Wordzilla I just installed this program and it's great maybe now I won't check the forum every 15 minutes at work.
However all the post contents are empty for me, even in the Show Recent Posts option! The title is displayed but nothing else.

1759  Main Area and Open Discussion / Living Room / Re: Cool Google trick: search file types on: May 16, 2007, 05:15:41 AM
Note that the trendline is about newsitems that feature the fileformats in their acticle, not the amount of files of each type!

If for example there is a big scandal about docx, then the trendline would go up because of all the reports, without any additional docx files being indexed by google.

Unfortunately the filetype: query is not allowed within trends.

Hey great script: comments with a dual monitor setup:
  • fullcreen app always goes to screen 1: feature or bug? you decide
  • I see a pixel or two on screen 2 (right border) edit: ahh one of the two variables (padding to 0 solves it  Thmbsup
  • add WinSet, Redraw,,%ID% before end of subroutine to prevent screen redrawing options on vista!

1761  DonationCoder.com Software / BrowserTraySwitch / No longer switching browsers on: May 16, 2007, 03:12:54 AM
Hello Mouser I am using BrowserTraySwitch but it stopped working a few days ago. When I change the default browser only the BTS icon changes but the default browser stays the same (tested with the Internet icon as well as launching URL from FARR).  I tried reinstalling BTS; setting firefox as default;running as admin; but to no avail. Running on Vista (might have something to do with it).

The debug options in BTS seem to be limited, is there anything I can try to find out what is wrong? Thanks smiley

13) Limit RAM usage. If Firefox takes up too much memory on your computer, you can limit the amount of RAM it is allowed to us. Again, go to about:config, filter “browser.cache” and select “browser.cache.disk.capacity”. It’s set to 50000, but you can lower it, depending on how much memory you have. Try 15000 if you have between 512MB and 1GB ram.
(emphasis mine) Something tells me the disk capacity setting will not limit the amount of RAM.

mostly for either unreliable servers such as motherboard manufacterers in taiwan or to speed up files over 1cd large, or to download many files on 1 site at a time.

1766  Main Area and Open Discussion / General Software Discussion / TRUSTED Download Manager discussion on: May 15, 2007, 03:47:06 AM
So there's all the recent discussions about whether or not there is hidden spyware /adware in certain download managers. Which ones can we trust? I also heard people talking about similar issues in the past, but was unable to find any info.

As donationcoder.com does not seem to have a download manager (yet?) that we know we can trust, what download managers can you recommend? What are the essential features?

Also, would it be safer to use a DM that has never had ads? Or is open-source? or is paid and properly supported? A lot of questions and I don't have any answers. Please help  embarassed

It is working from the link in Cybernet news report if you want to, but actually I don't think I should link to it and respect the author's wish to go shareware -- they have removed the link from their own site.
1769  Main Area and Open Discussion / General Software Discussion / Re: Faststone Image Capture now Shareware on: May 15, 2007, 03:17:14 AM
You can still download 5.3 from mirrors!

Brave move. It’s a good program for sure. Although I think it’s not fair to compare it to its previous freeware versions (but understandable), it is competing against itself!

Also I wonder behind the rationale not to make a seperate “pro” version and keep the current version free bugfixes / compatibility.

People don’t like things taken away from them unfortunately, the psychological effect of freeware -> shareware I would think is worse than release a “plus” version even though it’s basically the same thing.
1770  Main Area and Open Discussion / General Software Discussion / Re: pls recommend a good benign keylogger on: May 14, 2007, 06:02:25 AM
You'll have to reconstruct your input from keyloggers as it also records backspace, delete keypresses etc. It would be better to periodically save the text in the current control.

Well here's my incomplete script. It works on simple controls like Notepad++, notepad, but not yet on browser controls such as opera and IE due to my inexperience with programming to controls. it should be easy to extend it.

Their marketshare must have dropped below 99%  huh Why do they play it like this? If they asked for changes because this library violates these patents, people might collaborate. Sounds a lot like tactics to scare IT managers. Are they trying to affect the image of linux in the corporate world?
1772  Main Area and Open Discussion / Living Room / Re: Ask Leo: How do I fix this high CPU usage svchost virus or whatever it is? on: May 13, 2007, 02:10:57 PM
last thing i heard they have a patch but you have to contact them to get it, it's not a big priority for ms (?!?!?!?). IN the meantime they recommend people to update to MS Update everytime on the WU site. how disappointing
1773  Main Area and Open Discussion / General Software Discussion / Re: pls recommend a good benign keylogger on: May 12, 2007, 08:15:17 PM
It wouldn't be too hard to create a autohotkey script that you can start with a shortcut.
what it would do is every 1 minute ctrl-a, ctrl-c, up, down. This would copy the text in the input box to the clipboard and deselect. (up and down allows for deselecting without moving the caret to the end /start of the line -- at least in opera). (or even save it into a file temporarily if you wanted)

I only uploaded 7 recovery blocks which was 49MB, looks like you best download it from scratch indeed, the patch / pars would be as big as the original.
