General Software Discussion / Webopi: Rate Any Site
« on: December 26, 2007, 04:49 PM »
Webopi is a cool concept that lets you rate/discuss any website independent of that sites admin. Comes in very handy for rating sites and sharing your experiences with them (www.codesector.com for example).

Hopefully there is a a lot more to come as features go. A user rating system would be good for credibility. Not having to enter your name in everytime. Better interface. Options. Auditory/popup alerts telling you of reviews or not. And I'm sure a thousand more ideas will come along if people adopt this.

Most of the work will be creating a solid database and servers for all this, which probably should take top priority over the front end at this stage.

Maybe you're not using the latest version. TrayIt! [4.6.5.5]

I'm surprised that's what you consider the annoyance! lol

BestCrypt Traveler is free.

I like it because it doesn't have all the setup involved. You just take it and any container with you and you're good to go.

I do. I prefer encrypted containers myself.

BTW, I scrapped TrueCrypt after finding BestCrypt Traveller

I should mention that ShortPopUp also has the ability to show thumbs on folders and render them from image files. Rendering from image files isn't perfect as they are stretched to the default dimensions. Even if you set the dimensions yourself, anything much different would look a bit off. Still, you could find what you're looking for. The folder icon view is with ShortPopUp's setting set at 128x128. The one below is default. If there were a portrait style image being viewed, it would be stretched (or squashed, however you look at it).

K-Lite Codec Pack (~6.5 MB).

Perfect for most people, you can watch FLV in any video player. You don't need a "special FLV player"!!!  :D

Yay!!!!!!! Hoowah!.gif

Sure...but will it support animated PNGw (.apng)?  FireFox 3 & Opera 9.5 already do. XnView seems to support it also.

Picasa is cool and has some neat features but it's bloated and the GUI design is terrible. I wanted to download an entire album (Bikini competition :D ) without having to install Picasa.

I found PicasaWeb Downloader.

After setting everything up I can now just copy the URL, press a hotkey and the album is downloading. No fuss, no muss, NO PICASA!!! Ok, the video doesn't show the hotkey, I was still playing around with it, but I soon changed the parameters to immediately download the URL with just the Keyword or a hotkey.
