DonationCoder.com Software / Clipboard Help+Spell / Re: Lost the Time-Delayed Paste in Clipboard Help+Spell CHS

I have been experimenting some more with this and I noticed H+S already has this copytoclipboard-delay-pastefromclipboard functionality, but it only works with the "R - Time/Date Textclips" function on the H+S Systray pop-up.
If I click on the "R - Time/Date Textclips" in the H+S pop-up list, there is a delay of 2 seconds... then I hear the "paste" sound wav file (set in View >> Options >> Interface Options) and it automatically pastes the selected Date/Time at the cursor position in whatever application has focus. However, if I select anything in the top of the H+S pop-up list, the "paste sound" wav file plays immediately indicating it has pasted, but because there was no delay the focus could not be changed to the target application.
It seems if the Time/Date paste function could be delayed, the clips would have the delay function too.
Does everyone have this same experience with H+S?

... I could add an option for delayed paste too I suppose..
If you *could* add a user-definable delay in seconds to paste-whatever-is-on-the-clipboard function (loading would be done via the systray CHS icon) I would not only be grateful, but could use it immediately or whenever you can make it happen. It would be a permanent tool in my kit if you decide to add the function. I have considered the all the preceding suggestions, but due to my limitations with a keyboard, I am relegated to computer mousedom. So far I have had no success in locating the "other" app which might have been the culprit.

I don't think there is such a function -- perhaps you imagined it? (emphasis mine)
If you tell me a situation where you need it perhaps it's something i could add.
Please don't say that! The implications are well, you know. Back on topic... I seem to use a number of apps that CHS doesn't play well with when I try to paste directly into the app. The user-defined time-delay-paste would allow selecting an item from the list (loading the clipboard), then clicking the mouse where I need it in my target app and after the five-second delay would automatically paste the clipboard into the target app. I know I am not crazy and I know this function was used tens, sometimes hundreds of times a day. Is it possible another app was doing this in a clandestine manner? Hmm... I wonder what it might be?

Quite by accident I stumbled across a feature in using CHS years(?) ago that would allow me to select an item from the CHS list and would paste it after a time delay. Unfortunately, I have forgotten how and where in the software where I can restore this functionality. I have scoured the CHS options over the weekend and have had no success in finding the "switch." Can someone please point me to the place where I can turn this back on ?

Main Area and Open Discussion / Living Room / Does anyone actually use 3D Mailbox (or know anyone who does)?

I'll admit that I am an aviation buff that can spend hours just sitting in my car at the airport with my aviation radio scanner. I love airplanes and have as far as my memory will allow. A few years ago the same company that produced " Visitorville" created " 3d Mailbox" some years ago and added a " Level 2 - LAX Airport" that models Los Angeles International airport with activity . I have read every review I could find, but not one review ever gave me the impression it was actually being used by the reviewer. I felt like the positive "reviews" were written by those pro-product bloggers I call, "blogworms." Also, AFAICT this client has never been a topic on DonationCoder. A search of the forums returned zero results. While I am sure any cerebral-endowed power user will have no lack of disdain for the attempt of modeling an email client with a video game motif, I ask you to humor me. I am really just trying to discern if the whole thing is a reality or not. I am curious if anyone uses, has used or knows someone personally who has used 3D Mailbox? Thank you.

My search did not yield any useful result, so I apologize if I missed something. I am not sure if "Auto-Ping" is the right name, but what I am looking for is a way to monitor whether a web site is "up" or "down."
If there is nothing available I will post a request in "Coding Snacks." Thanks.

That all sounds real good and benign until you start factoring in other very serious items.
<> Google put at risk the Chinese citizens who would exercise a free-speech right by agreeing to allow the Chinese government unhindered access to any records (read: IPs) of any and all searches.
<> Google has digitized (photographed) hundreds of thousands (millions?) of copyrighted works and declared their "digitized data" are Big G's property via their own copyright.
This is only two. There are more. Please feel free to do the "Fill-In-The-Blank" name game with the above. Doesn't quite fit does it?
Aside from the above Google presents itself as an inert "search" engine to the masses which accords some measure of acceptable norms of a common trust to Google. The only way Google can take economic advantage of the "searchers" trust is to manipulate that trust without the "searchers" knowledge. No matter how you slice it, this pretending of Google to be a "service" to the masses while clandestinely seeking/exercising a significantly different agenda constitutes the darker side of business and stretches any level of integrity to the breaking point.
Keep in mind it is only the ability of a deceiver in using the lie to keep the deceived believing the deceiver is to be trusted which allows the deceiver to deceive the deceived with the lie. Once the truth is known by the deceived the power of the deceiver and the lie is nullified and the deceiver loses any credibility. In other words, a lie only has power while the deceiver can keep the deceived believing the deceiver is to be trusted. Google succeeds in continuing to keep the "searcher" believing "Google is your friend."
How would you like your friends/business associates to treat you as Big G treats the "searchers?" Your answer should illuminate the validity/invalidity of Google's claim to your trust.

Thanks, SJ. Unfortunately, you have to have an account to get to it, so a link wouldn't work. Thanks for the help, but it's mootbecause the guy decided to reformat his drive. Everything is fine now. I posted what you said for the future reference of others.
If you have a particularly good site to get the cleaner from, I would appreciate it. The are hundreds out there and I am overwhelmed.

If you can give me somewhere to go to help this fellow, I would really appreciate it and you can build your ARK (Act of Random Kindness) too! Thanks for any help! CT

Main Area and Open Discussion / Living Room / Stage Play

In lieu of doing a NANY app this year, I am writing a stage play ("A Sweet Christmas Tragedy") which will be performed Dec. 24th. Nothing big (script is only about 150-180 pages), just an offering to the retirement community where my Mom lives. A good many of them have nowhere else to go on Christmas, so we thought we would bring something to them. If anyone is interested in reading the script, PM me and I will send a link when it is completed. I am using CELTX to write the scripts, storyboards, etc. Anyone else a playwright?

Unless I can come up with some simple but positively ingenious app (along the lines of "Hello world!") for NANY2012, I will have to bow out this year. Since the last time I posted, we have had to face some more funerals, we moved from Texas to Missouri and two months later were required to vacate and move back to Texas (expensive and exhausting). I'm out of time for development this year. Thanks to everyone for the help. On another note, I am involved in writing an original holiday stage play ("A Sweet Christmas Tragedy"). I'll post the details in the "Living Room." I'll be around, though.

Hello, I have to start somewhere and after looking things over and reading what was said elsewhere I am going to follow a "Quadruple Threat..." @ Book - I already have a good solid Sam's book (800+ pages) on raw PHP & MySQL, so I'm going to work through it. @ CakePHP - a framework noted for being "beginner-friendly." @ CodeIgniter - another framework which makes the same claim, but has a different perspective than CakePHP. @ Yii - Mouser, who's opinion I hold in high regard, has really been up on this framework, so it has to be tried! Given my noob status on PHP/MySQL and having all my time free, I think I will find a good benefit in working with all four of these pathways concurrently, i.e., each task suggested in one resource will be duplicated in the other three as much as possible. Sure it will take me four times as long, but hopefully I will learn it twice as good. I do not expect I will stay with all four resources for the duration. I expect somewhere along the way I will develop a natural affinity for the one(s) which fits me best.

... An IDE is your "text editor on steroids with project management and whatnot", framework is "all the library code on steroids" (a 'library' is pre-written code you can call; a 'framework' is something you adapt your code to, in exchange of standardized layout and rapid development speed.) Thanks Man, now it's clear.

Thanks, I'll look into it. One thing I could use some guidance on is if it's better to begin learning PHP "in the raw" and move to a framework later or to start in a framework which has an emphasis on "getting started" (CakePHP, CodeIgniter, etc.)? Also, is the "framework" for PHP the same thing as an "IDE" in another language or am I missing a basic(?) concept here?

FYI - This is only the first stage of this project, i.e., setting up the DB and building the client. The long-term goal of this project is to provide a realistic framework my children and others can experiment with starting and managing a virtual business. Pursuant to this, what I would like to do in the future is to model...
@ A supply-and-demand market economy. @ Real-life fuel sales, repair costs, maintenance costs, etc. according to location. @ Real-life airplane and airport fixed-base operations (FBOs) purchases, etc. @ Systematic "job" opportunities which will be seeded with A.I. and live-pilot buying and selling. @ Accurate "wear" models of aircraft life which will be reflected in efficiency and performance. @ The above "wear" will be based on "component" use and failure modeling. @ ?????
As you can see this project is VERY ambitious and it will be years before it matures to everything envisioned. In the meantime, the goal is to get some baseline interaction ("starting small") and build from there. Besides coding, a massive amount of research will be necessary. For example, consider how a poor pilot could impact the engine and airframe of the ubiquitous piston-engine Cessna 172 Skyhawk? Modeling each engine component and airframe component is a daunting project. Now imagine the interactions between each component and how a failure ( oil pump goes "boing!") could cascade through the others (piston rings, rods, etc.) and you get how large the project could grow. As immense as all that adds up to, multiply it by the number of different aircraft models available and wowzee! It's a big one (and I didn't mention turboprops and jets)!
Granted, I am trying to singularly accomplish with my feeble skills what whole corporations have been working toward for decades. The chances I will succeed in everything is not realistic, but I will take the project as far as I can.
To this end, there is an official forum for this specific project. If this project sounds like something you would like dabble in every now and then send me a PM and I will provide more details.
It should be clear, but just so no one gets their tail twisted, this is in no way meant to proselytize anyone away from DonationCoder, but to allow any like-minded aviation enthusiasts a fuller participation in the project which would not be appropriate to do on the DC forums.

then would not routers update good data with corrupted data as an "update" across the cloud?
Most likely the routers would have died/crashed from the SEMP I'm not and expert or even remotely knowledgeable on SEMP, but what I think I understand is (I'm thinking, like what Carol is about the cloud) everything would not necessarily be destroyed. If this is the case then their ought to be two classes of surviving computers/routers: computers/routers that have no corruption at all and computers/routers that have minimal to majorly corrupted data. If these are mirrored somewhere doesn't it make sense there might be rogue computers/routers that have corrupt data (partially corrupt due to being on the fringe-edge of the SEMP) and would try to populate *all* the nodes in the network with the bad data? Or, would the good computers/routers have the ability to stop the corrupted rogues from mirroring the bad data down and up the line?

Aside from this thread, everything I have come across is dated (but I'll keep looking), so I'll ask if given the 3, Yii, CodeIgnighter, CakePHP are all equally good for someone brand new if this galaxy? My target project is not real complicated, but since it is my first, I don't mind a framework which will enforce good habits. Any comments?
