DC Website Help and Extras / Current Online Members
« on: December 22, 2006, 11:45 AM »
Quick question - how is the currently online members list at the bottom of the forum index ordered? (i.e. I can tell it's not alphabetical) Silly question I know, but just curious

Living Room / Re: Wii Browser

Early xmas present :)

As for breaking tv's ... I don't know, have to be a freak or idiot.  Or be trying to make blogosphere headlines.

You know, I'd love a Wii this xmas. Did I ever tell you how much I value your programming abilities Allen  :-[ ;D

Oh - and I also LOVE  :-* Editpad Pro. Do I get extra points for this?  :D Please advise.

You have a Wii  :o

Hope you don't also have an expensive tv  :D

General Software Discussion / Re: A Warning about Thinkall.com
« on: December 19, 2006, 04:26 PM »
The general idea is a scam.

Selling open-source software, isn't.. it's legal - and to be honest - a big part of the GPL that you can redistribute the software..

But IMO Thinkall are scamming, deceiving, lying, tricking dross and should be banned from any kind of directorship indefinitely.

I'm all for #2.

Con.

I would say #2 is the easiest / quickest to both use and glance at

Living Room / Re: Top 10 Worst Portrayals of Technology in Film
« on: December 18, 2006, 12:12 AM »
What we need is a top 10 most accurate portayal of technology list.

Also, why did the matrix not make the list? The idea that they shove a metal rod which is about half a foot in length into the back of your skull is laughable. How in the hell would they have implanted that without damaging the brain or nervous system/cerebelum which is near that area?

I mean no offense, but it made me giggle that the part of The Matrix you felt is more 'unreal' wasn't the idea of the world being virtual and people reading the world on a computer screen  ;D :P

Josh, could I have a screencast of the world for Christmas please  ;D I feel short-changed in my abilities

Official Announcements / Re: Amazing Conversation on your site
« on: December 17, 2006, 02:26 AM »
Try this google search:

http://www.google.co...n&q=PolZegerully

Notice in the first 100 results that all of the forum signups were within the last 3 days. Also notice that there was only 1 post made, and it is almost identical to the one here.

I saw the same message from the same username on another forum yesterday and only thought it was odd when I saw it here today.

Maybe it's somehow something for a google-bomb?

Official Announcements / Re: Amazing Conversation on your site

Several people have emailed me warning me that PolZegerully has been registering and posting this same message at every forum on the web.  Guess it's just spam.. Regardless, perhaps others wanted to know how to send a personal message.

And now we wait for the mystery of PolZegerully to be revealed!! Please let us know when he hatches his plot to take over the internets!

I was suspicious but couldn't see the spam or scam  ;)

Living Room / Banned from efnet?!
« on: December 16, 2006, 06:34 PM »
I've just tried to get on the efnet IRC channel for dc.. and no efnet servers are letting me on, saying I'm banned for 10 days. EH????

IP is dynamic so maybe that is it but why would the 14400 minutes banned for notice be so precise?

I miss #donationcoder  :( :( >:(

Cool!  Not even a member for half a week and I win already to boot!  This is awesome.  Of course that is why I joined in the first place  :D  The awesomeness, not the win...

Many congratulations  :) Enjoy

Hope everyone else enjoys too  :D

Looks great - will read soon  :D Thanks mouser

I enjoy articles on 'theory' and 'analysis' of new technologies - even if some writers get a bit too philosophical  8)

Hi Everyone Up There. I'm at the southern most tip before you dive into the ocean and start swimming for Tasmania (not).
DC is a great community to be part of - thanks to Mouser et al.

Very nice to have you here, Clive

Well, after a few days, I am still avidly using Cooliris.

I find it perfect for search results, forums, digg articles... anything which is a list of links. I'm just glad I can install it at work otherwise I would now feel strange using a browser without this kind of functionality  ;D

Is an armed personnel guarding the bike 24/7/365 a viable option for you?  :)

Jokes aside.. I am sorry to hear this.. some people don't realise the effect their actions have on others. I believe f0dder lost his bike too (am I right f0dder??  :-[ ). I don't cycle much so can't suggest a solution.. but I offer my sympathy

Some people must really fall for these kind of trickery. Especially when the word lawyer comes into play...

I'm not sure it's as much trickery, as pure stupidity!  :D

Thank you, doublebogey! I had completely forgotten about Audacity  Many thanks will try it out..

I need a simple, no bells'n'whistles program that lets me record output from a soundcard, if anyone knows of one?  I will be using it to record output from the JAWS screen reader.

Does anyone have a favourite? A google search revealed many shareware applications, nothing free/donationware though...  :(

Thanks for any recommendations in advance  :D
