General Software Discussion / Re: PC Audio Enhancers
« on: February 17, 2014, 09:39 AM »
BTW, I tried SRS yesterday & it sucked. The audio coming out naturally without any enhancer sounded better & louder than with SRS.

Most of the enhancers do this. First reduce the quality of the audio & then when you switch on the program, it just raises the quality up a little. The natural audio seems to be better than the "enhanced" audio.

All, if you want to test out a particular program above (or for the matter of fact any program in the world :)  ), I would strongly recommend "Reboot Restore Rx". This program takes a snapshot of your drive & you can then install any shareware program, check it out & if you are not happy or want to use it again (after the trial expires), you just have to restart your PC & Reboot Restore Rx rolls back to the saved state (how your system was at the time the snapshot was taken).

Windows native System Restore only restores system settings whereas Reboot Restore Rx does a 100% (bit to bit) backup & does not use much space. I personally love this.

Thanks Nzyme, useful to me. Do you have a preference or recommendation ... most of the reviews I've googled are self serving.

I personally used DPS and found it to amplify all frequencies (including noise) but overall it was good. You even have the profile browser in it.

I decided to start a thread that lists all possible audio enhancers for PC (Windows). Please feel free to include any missing software.

Developer's Corner / Media Playback in Google Drive
« on: December 11, 2013, 11:34 AM »
Hi, Google Drive is currently unable to play some audio & video file formats (Ex: .flac).

I would like to use a Java script for Chrome which calls the VLC plug-in when any audio or video file is played in Drive. I have used similar some scripts earlier which work on YouTube. I think this should be possible in Drive too.

Thanks!

General Software Discussion / Re: Thumbnail on Google Drive

Are you saying that this Drive music player is not showing your embedded album art?  If so, you probably need to get with the developer of the Drive music player to see if they can implement your request.

When I upload a music file which has album art in it to Google drive, it does not show the album art on drive. I tried disconnecting all the apps from drive and then check but to no avail.

General Software Discussion / Thumbnail on Google Drive
« on: May 10, 2013, 11:15 AM »
Hi,

I have a Google drive account and uploaded a mp3 file (which has the album art) to my drive and was surprised not to see the album art online. I am able to see the album art on my PC but not on drive. I have linked drive with Drive music player to play audio online (http://drive-music-player.appspot.com). Does anyone have any solution to this? I have attached the screenshot of my drive which gives u an idea of what the issue is.

Thanks

Is there a extension / script which allows me to select the folders / subfolders to save files to Google Drive? For example, bookmax allows us to bookmark pages by allowing us to select folders/subfolders...

Try this -> https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/cloud-save/dlbemabjbfhjcccahjioenmkgimjbbkd?hl=en
-c.gingerich (May 01, 2013, 03:03 PM)

I actually tried this extension but for some reason, this does not work. I mean I installed this and on a webpage, when I right clicked on an image and selected the option Cloudsave > Save as > skydrive, it just says "saving" but this window remains for a long time and nothing happens. I have to cancel this window. I tried on 2 to 3 images

I think it says in the notes on the extension that it isn't ready for prime time yet in regards to skydrive, i.e.

minus.com works now, but Skydrive is still not ready yet, because Microsoft requires a redirect domain for a web app to use their Live connect API, but I don't have any domain right now;

Ok, thanks for the info!

Hi, I have a SkyDrive account with lots of folders & subfolders.

Is there are script/extension (preferably for Chrome) that would help me to save images directly to SkyDrive?

When we right-click on any image on any webpage, there should be a context menu option like "Save to SkyDrive" and then it should first ask me to login (one time activity) and then show me the list of root folders on my SkyDrive account where I can expand and navigate to the desired subfolder and then save the image to that folder.

Thanks

Can anyone provide me with the name of the program used to create multi-boot windows os?

RegJump is what I use (along with a simple AHK clipboard script).

I tried using RegJump but nothing happens when I run it. I suppose I am missing something...Can you provide the steps to get this working along with AHK scripts?

General Software Discussion / Multi-boot Live USB
« on: December 03, 2012, 09:55 AM »
Hi,

Can I boot multiple Windows OSs directly from a live USB? Let me explain what I mean:
I have Windows 8 installed on my PC. Is there a way that I can have a Win 7 & XP OS (with the data) on my USB flash drive (32GB) such that during start-up, I can plug-in the USB and boot directly from either 7 or XP? Moreover, if that is possible and when I make any changes to a file, will the changes be carried over to the USB?

Thanks

Hi,

I have often come across webpages that advise users to perform some registry operations for fixing / tweaking / etc. The steps would include something like - Open the following path in the registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion

I am sure you would agree that navigating manually through every branch in RegEdit is a pain. I am looking for a program / add-on / script / etc, which can be used in the following way:

1. Select the registry path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion

2. Right-click on the selected registry path and select a context menu option like "Go to" or "Open" --> "Registry". This would open RegEdit and all the branches in the selected path.

Would be a really helpful feature...Think about it...

I have found an add-on for Firefox (ViewMarks) which can do most of what I want, except that it does not produce perfect thumbnails for video sites like Youtube, just like Facebook does...

Ha!  :) Ok I'll see what I can whip up. It might take me a bit, but I'll work on it as much as I can.

Any progress?
