« on: November 08, 2008, 01:41 PM »
If anyone needs their project hosted please let me know and I'll glady setup a subdomain for you on my server to host your project.

All I need for the hosting is First Name, Last Name (can use first letter of last name) and email address.

You can PM me the Info and I'll set it up as soon as I read it.

Circle Dock / Re: Question re modifying (system) DLL's
« on: November 08, 2008, 09:03 AM »
I don't know how circle dock was made and haven't looked into it much, but there is an way for a program to hook all dll's not just specific ones its all or nothing from what i know. So it could be using that method.

Living Room / Re: Help me build my new Home Theater PC

I've never used this case as I've yet to make a HTPC but from the specs and looks of it this case seems very nice, tad on the expensive side though ($500).

Living Room / Re: Mouser's new book
« on: October 10, 2008, 04:53 AM »
I tried to buy the book but the website stops responding on the order confirmation page... :-\

Mouser seems to have taught his server how to mouser people as well  ;D

Yup that's all you you should need to do.

Yes it is very possible to do so.

Just export the registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\TypedURLs and copy it over to the other computer and import it.

If you don't feel comfortable editing the registry in that way then I can make a quick program for you to do so. :)

When selecting the start with windows option it appends '/autorun' to the path of SC so when you go to make a screen shot it pops up with a error dialog saying "/autorun\ path not found"

Sweetness that might actually be useful for my future plans for my program :-D

Congrats Eoin for winning the MSDN prize and my source is messy and not well commented (my weak points) but i would be glad to give it out to people who are interested in it.
I do plan on making a stand alone web server for any site in the future based off of this project's webserver :)

Also i showed ya guys projects to a few people and they seem interested in them, my bro really likes Eoin's project and circular dock

2nd Edit:
I don't like giving my source out publicly but if you send me a PM i'll link ya to the source for who ever is interested in it :)

Thanks so much Chris for letting us DC users do this contest  ;D

OK I finally got my project finished here it is.

Btts - Bit-Torrent Tracker Sharp
Btts is a Bit-Torrent (BT) tracker made in C# with That's right Btts hosts its own pages

I'm going to have to say the biggest challenge was getting the web server working.
It took so much time to get to even just a working state for this project and still needs a bit of work done to make it fully capable.

I've been working on a close to stand alone bit torrent tracker website made in
Close to stand alone being it needs .net 3.5 and sql server compact edition 3.5 runtime installed on the machine.
Most of the work is/was developing it's own webserver to host the pages.

Thank god for the extension, my its a huge load of my chest now that I have more time. Even though I finished it, it's not how I would like it to be for the release.

A quick version control search on youtube gave me this result

I have talked to mouser and Veign and I'm plan on entering this contest hopefully I'll be able to finish in time.

Living Room / Re: Drinking Vinegar?

Apple cider vinegar is actually good for some cleaning your dietary track

I personally found this one to be a good book for explaining many different design patterns, but I wouldn't touch the book unless you understand basic concepts of OO

Living Room / Creative Commons Music Sites - List Your Favorites
« on: March 18, 2008, 08:31 PM »

Jamendo is a place for artists from around the world to post their work under the Creative Commons license.
Users can download artists' songs from Jamendo a variety of ways including http and eMule and BitTorrent or can listen to them using the webplayer.

Artists Benifits
Jamendo also allows users to donate to artists that have chosen to receive donations. (Minimum amount to donate is $5)
Artists can choose to either receive donations, in which case Jamendo will keep a small portion of the donation (website says as little as 50 cents) or they can choose to receive a portion of the revenue from Jamendo's ads.

Selection is fairly decent, a lot of songs from non English speaking countries as well.
Web Interface is very nice uses AJAX and has a nice Web 2.0 feel to it.
Artists also get some income from this via donations or shared ad revenue

I think this is an excellent idea, so when do ya think it will be started?  :P

OK, my mom gets regular "spam" from her old high school buddy's and in some of the emails there are power point attachments.
So I get my mom power point viewer from Microsoft and install it for her so all she has to do is open the file and it will start the power point.

After explaining to her how to go forward or back slides with it I go and to do my own thing.
Few minutes later i hear the monitor turning on and off a few times then finally she asks me "Why wont this thing exit?"

I had to contain my laughter while i explain to her the monitor just displays stuff the power button on it doesn't effect input to the computer, and finally show her the "Esc" key on the keyboard.

Living Room / Re: tip: check your mouse before going to red alert.
« on: February 19, 2008, 09:28 AM »
On a related note does anyone else have an issue with mice where the scroll wheel seems to behave erratically? For example sometimes when I start to scroll a window with the mouse wheel it doesn't stop jittering about after I have finished (and it even affects other windows) until I tap the wheel again.

I had something close to that problem.  When I would go to scroll down it would take 5 trys before it would scroll.  And then it would scroll up 1 page first.  I cleaned out the mouse and the wheel sensor as best I could to no avail.  Replaced mouse and now all is well....well except for the fact this mouse only has 3 buttons where as my other mouse had 5.  The normal 3 and 2 on the side for forward and back when browsing webpages and such.

I've always used the default colors for all my programs, which happens to normally be dark on light.
But I do want to try out the light on dark scheme sometime.
