627  DonationCoder.com Software / Post New Requests Here / Re: IDEA on: March 15, 2007, 01:33:03 PM
you can use find and run robot here on donation coder and just start typing in the name, and it will search for all the programs that start with that letter, that eliminates the need to push the start button.
...Why am I not using it on my computer...I'll have to do that when I get home.
628  Main Area and Open Discussion / General Software Discussion / Re: Got my Ubuntu disk, got two hard drives, can i dual boot off of a seperate drive? on: March 14, 2007, 01:27:10 PM
What I was doing when I was using the vista beta, you could un plug your xp hard drive, and plug in the other one in it's place, and just shutdown and swap drives when you want to switch operating systems. Yes I know that isn't very good, but if all else fails, it's an Idea.
629  News and Reviews / Mini-Reviews by Members / Re: Little Setup Builder Reviewed on: March 12, 2007, 12:40:26 PM
Based on past useage, I have found that most free install makers have a screen at the end that says "this installer was made using (insert product name here)", so if this program doesn't put that at the end than this would be a pretty cool program for users to make installers.

wow, I haven't seen a user do that before, googling his user name you find a bunch of forums that he has posted the same thing on, I haven't looked at all of them, just the first 4, and they said the same thing. I hate those kind of people.
631  Main Area and Open Discussion / Living Room / Re: Good email adress for ShareIt! on: March 09, 2007, 12:33:49 PM
how does it not let you use gmail? I have a domain and I am using google apps to have email, would that work? it doesn't say @gmail.com, it says @superduper4.net. I could make an account for you.
632  Main Area and Open Discussion / Living Room / Re: Drawing with 2 mice on: March 07, 2007, 01:58:22 PM
That would be pretty cool, if you could put one pointer on one monitor, and then put another on the other monitor (dual view-dual mouse) that would be pretty cool.
633  Main Area and Open Discussion / Living Room / https proxy on: March 06, 2007, 12:42:24 PM
I was wondering if anyone knew of a proxy site that used a secure connection instead of the regular http:// Schools block regular conections, but they don't block https://, or at least my school doesn't, so if anyone knows of a proxy site that uses https:// secure conection please let me know.

edit:I found https://superfastproxy.com but I don't know how long it will last, so I need someone else to give me some other ones that have been up for awhile that use https://

Sweet man, I would like to help you with testing this program, I have been trying to find a program that makes other programs portable. I will help you in any way I can, but not with coding or anything like that, I can't do that. Please and thank you.

Ok, my desktop looks way better. You can see from the image in my first post that my desktop was a massive mess, well now with the new picture you can see that the mess is still there, but now its more organized, like Carol Haynes had suggested. Thank you Carol. Thmbsup
637  Main Area and Open Discussion / General Software Discussion / Re: Desktop chaos please help on: March 04, 2007, 02:36:56 PM
I like Carol's idea. I can also put all the icons into different folders like a folder for games, a folder for installation files, etc.

As you can see with the attached picture, I have a lot of desktop icons. I was hoping that someone had a program that would let me organize my icons between my two monitors. (better than the windows arrange icons by menu you get when you right click on the desktop, when align to grid is on I can't put icons on my second monitor) If someone could help me out here, I would really like that.

p.s. Yeah, its a bad quality image, I shrunk it in paint, to lazy to wait for photoshop to load, the small little program that you see in the bottom middle is at the bottom left of my second monitor.
639  DonationCoder.com Software / Skrommel's Software / Re: Run on: February 28, 2007, 06:09:15 PM
I can't read that language, but if the run button is there, you should be able to drag it to the desktop, I don't know a whole lot about user privileges, but I do know that school privileges allow you to drag and drop the run button.

Edit: no never mind, I just switched my start menu to the classic menu right quick, and you can't drag it to the desktop in classic, you would have to either use skrommel's run program, or press the windows button and r, or just click start run.

... it can get up to like almost a gig of virtual memory, and like 7 or 8 hundred mb of regular memory, and I wanted to limit this, ...

700 - 1000 MB??!! I too would like to 'limit' such a powersucker; I would never run it! (I don't even have that much RAM.)

If you really wanna keep such a millstone around your neck, my penny would be that you change the Priority in Windows Taskmanager to Below Normal. It won't bring you more RAM, but should give the other apps a chance to do their work anyway, I guess.
I have a gig of ram, and I have a 3g pagefile on my second hard drive. I think I had at one time changed the priority, but I don't think that helped much when it was using almost all my ram, and 300mb of my VM, by then my computer was so slow I was about to pick it up and throw it at the wall.

someone try to goto their site, I just went to it, and all I got was the msn search that pops up (school default search engine) sometimes when the page cant be found. I think they finally got shut down.

I was wondering if some one knew of a program that would limit the amount of memory and virtual memory a program is allowed to use? I have a program that I run, and it can get up to like almost a gig of virtual memory, and like 7 or 8 hundred mb of regular memory, and I wanted to limit this, that way maybe I can use my computer more better. Please and thank you.

It's just something messed up with your computer, I am able to do it here at school also, and at school I have like no privleges on the computer, other than surf the internet ( some restrictions apply), and open programs.
645  DonationCoder.com Software / Skrommel's Software / Re: Run on: February 24, 2007, 12:28:02 PM
Yeah that might have something to do with it. Im using my personal home computer with an admin account because I am to lazy to make a user account. I should try it at school on monday and see if I can do it there, I have like no privileges at school.
646  DonationCoder.com Software / Skrommel's Software / Re: Noise on: February 24, 2007, 12:25:40 PM
Im using the ultramon screensaver, I wouldn't think it would mess up with that, it doesn't look for any special keystrokes. I dunno, I'll have to switch to the default one right quick and see if it works.

648  DonationCoder.com Software / Skrommel's Software / Re: Run on: February 23, 2007, 09:48:20 PM
all that run prog that skrommal made was hit win + r. I have successfully made a shortcut to the run dialog using windows xp home edition SP2, and using windows xp pro SP2. Just drag and drop the run dialog in the start menu to the desktop, it should work, thats what I did.
649  DonationCoder.com Software / Skrommel's Software / Re: Noise on: February 23, 2007, 09:44:06 PM
the only thing I have running that does that is ultramon, but I didn't have 2 monitors running when I had used the program, at the time I didn't have any thing running that did anything with the screen saver.
650  DonationCoder.com Software / Skrommel's Software / Run on: February 23, 2007, 04:25:33 PM
I was just looking at your program called run, the one that opens the run dialog box. If you hold down the right mouse button on the run button in the start menu, and then drag it to the desktop, or the quick launch thing(the one on the start bar), then it will let you put a shortcut to the run dialog, I don't know if this only works with windows xp or not. Just drag it to your quick launch, and then you got a quick run dialog. Works with the search button too.
