Can anybody replicate this?

I'm using Screenshot Captor v2.82.01 - June 1st, 2010 on Vista Home Premium with a user account, UAC On.  I've hit what seems to be a weird bug.  SSC locks up when I use Shift-PrtScr = Grab selected Region.  I make a screenshot, SSC makes its capture sound, and the New Screenshot window (at least I think that's its title - the buttons on the title bar obscure it) pops up.  At that point, SSC locks up and I have to forcibly terminate it.  I didn't try scrolling region or repeat last, but all the other methods seem OK.  This behaviour mostly happens if Shift-PrtScr is the FIRST capture.  That is, if I tried other methods first, it usually, but not always, works as expected; sometimes it locks up even if I have tried another capture method first.  I think Red Box mode may have a problem?  Something like this happened with the beta, but I think earlier versions were OK.

I'm experiencing a similar issue with v2.82.01 on Windows XP.  If I try a Ctrl+Shift+Print Screen and then use Ctrl+Click to capture, Screenshot Captor will lock up if I use the Pop Up Choice dialog.  I then have to Alt+Tab to the Pop Up Choice dialog and hit Esc to cancel.  If I use the Minimized mode it works fine.

First, the problems with the XPS M1310 wasn’t industry-wide; it affected many HP and Dell notebooks. Secondly Dell did not deal with it well at all. Sounds like someone is speaking of business machines and naturally Dell addresses business PCs rapidly. Personal machines are a whole different story.

I have a Studio XPS 16 laptop that I purchased personally where the hard drive clicked itself to death (Seagate Momentus 7200.4; apparently the Maxtor poison is infecting their drives as well) and Dell support was great about replacing the drive.

I understand what you are talking about, though.  A major oversight with my laptop is that it shipped with a 90W AC Adapter when that really isn't up to stuff.  A quick ping to support and they will send you a 130W replacement.  Otherwise, it is a great laptop.

While I can't comment on the specifics of what Dell may or may not have known internally, this was an INDUSTRY WIDE problem at the time.

I dealt with the GX270 model in the field, and in my experience Dell was quite good about the issue.  They preemptively replaced all of the GX270 motherboards at one site before they had the chance to fail.

All of the major PC manufacturers had their models with bad caps.  The HP equivalent was the D530.

The previous two companies I worked for used Dell exclusively for their PCs, laptops and monitors and I found them to be very reliable overall, including OptiPlex GX270 after a motherboard replacement.  I own a Studio XPS 16 laptop and have no problems with it.

My current job uses Lenovo and I haven't been very impressed with their reliability so far.  It makes me wish we had some Dell PCs here...

Another Idea....im looking for something like this , for replicate files across a network with admin privileges (unc , not mapped drives) and with continuos conection (i.e. copy 1 file to 10 network pc (unc, read from txt file) , copy first pc, continue with the second pc and so on, finally shows a log for copy or not (shutdown pc)

Sorry for my late reply...I haven't checked this post too much lately.

From what you posted, everything is working fine.  The log file only logs what is output when CHKDSK Assist sends its command to cmd.exe.  If you need to reboot first (required if you are checking the drive with the Windows install on it) you will see exactly what you posted in the log file.  I should probably make this more clear, and will do so in the documentation in the next release.

I'll also look into pulling the info from the Event Viewer into the script itself or at least adding a link so you can get to it quickly.

I would rate the movie a B+ overall, but a C- for cinematography and a C for "Trekiness".

I am getting very sick of the constant movement ("shaky cam") and rapid angle/scene changes Hollywood is now using to "spice up" the action.  It doesn't make it more exciting at all, it just makes it almost impossible to follow the action unless you can watch the scene 3 to 4 times!    Also, I would have liked them to have zoomed out a bit more.  Almost the entire movie takes place from a close up perspective.

• HOW THE HELL CAN THEY JUST TOSS 40 YEARS OF TREK TO THE WIND!  GOD DAMMIT!  :Ahem:  I'm better now.
• Ugh, time travel, especially when it creates paradoxes is very hard to write.  The "big reveal" of how Nero and Spock came to the time the movie takes place was just lame.  Supernova, Red Matter, WTF!?!

I could go on...but there's no need.

I would say it is flawed but good.

I tried HelpMaker v7.4 Build 4, but for a "mature" product it is too buggy, even if it is free.  For the life of me I couldn't get the table of contents to work in the HTML-Website option.

It does look like a lot of work went into the program, but from looking at the forums each release seems to break as many things as it fixes.  Hopefully the forthcoming C++ version will fix these issues, but according to this post HelpMaker won't be free for much longer.  The reasoning is due to "personal attacks", which is the most bizarre reason I have ever heard of for going payware.  If you want to charge for a product you've poured your heart and soul into go right ahead, but their reasoning is perplexing.  They will just end up punishing the regular users of the program, who may look elsewhere when the free version is discontinued.

I ended up going with Helpinator 1.4 FREE for my needs.  It is limited to 10 topics (you can pay $99 for the Pro version that has unlimited topics) but 10 is more than enough for me.  The interface is much simpler than HelpMaker, and supports CHM, PDF, RTF and Web as export options even in the free version.

That's a great suggestion.  I'll put it on my To Do List.

I would probably have to download the file to the replicating PC first then go from there, as I believe the commands I use in AutoHotkey to copy the file don't support URLs.  It may be a while before I can implement this, but I'll let you know when I do.

EDIT:  Done in v1.1.0.

Nice bunch of lamers in the Gizmo comments section that post Anonymous comments saying that the NANY apps are junk.  How about they write something in their spare time and then give it away for free?

I am quite proud of the mention on ghacks , and I am also amazed at the apps that were produced for NANY 2009.  Good job everyone!

nice, i can see where this might be useful.
would be nice to have an option (set by default) to show a confirmation messagebox each time it finds a file it is about to replace, so user can verify and click OK/SKIP/CANCEL.

Description
File Replicator is a program that searches for a specified file within a specified root folder and replaces it with another copy of the file.  This is useful for updating a file that is located in multiple folders to a newer version.  This is a GUI based replacement for the File Propagator script.

02/14/10:  v1.2.1 has been released.  Release notes below.

-Engine upgraded to AutoHotkey v1.0.48.05.

-Includes v2 Revision 2.1.0 of the File Replicator Manual.
-Installer upgraded to Script Setup Utility v2.6.1.
-Made several changes to how version information is interpreted and displayed.

Please Note: Upgrades from v1.0.0 or older are not supported due to the changes made to the installer.  You must uninstall that version before installing the latest one.

Installation
I have attached two downloads to this post.  FileReplicator_setup.exe is the version with an installer based on Inno Setup, FileReplicator.zip is a zip file with no installer.

• Installer

If you use the installer it will create shortcuts where you specify.

• ZIP

If you use the zip file extract the contents to a folder and run the .exe.

Using the Application
The script is pretty straight forward, but I have created a manual (included with the download) that will guide you through all of the various options offered in the script.

Uninstallation

• Installer

If you use the installer you can uninstall it from Add/Remove Programs (Programs and Features) or from the Start Menu (if you had the installer create Start Menu shortcuts).

• ZIP

If you use the zip file just delete the extracted files and folders from your PC to uninstall.

Known Issues
None at this time.

Interesting suggestion, but I was trying to avoid using commercial software to accomplish this.  XXCopy's freeware license forbids commercial use, so I wouldn't be able to use it at work anyways.

The Windows Replace command does the job just fine.

Thanks for the feedback.

The changes I made are built on top of justice's original v1.0 source, and the terminology used by the script is unchanged.  I'll take a look at it when I build the GUI version.

The GUI version will be be built from scratch, and will no longer rely on justice's source code.  I do have to thank him for the fact that it was his script that got me interested in AutoHotkey, and for allowing me to modify his File Propagator source.

I am having trouble with v3.1.0.  The source file isn't propagated - when I look at the replace.txt file it's contents say "No file replaced".  Trying the replace command from a command window worked ok.  I do have spaces in the folder names, but this version is supposed to be ok with that.  I am using Win XP SP2.

D'oh!  I missed one of the variables, so the spaces in your directory name choked the script.  I fixed it this time, I promise.   Please see File Propagator v3.1.1 in the first post which fixes the problem.  Thanks for noticing that and reporting it!

I wanted everyone to know that I discovered and fixed a rather annoying bug in File Propagator.  This was most likely the bug that Molasar experienced.  See the first post for details.
