Post New Requests Here / Re: IDEA: Drop Zone for Web Images

lifeweaver

I have run the AHK script but am hitting a problem. At present I have not implemented the registry bypass for the internet warning, but assume that should not be an issue.

I can drag an image, but as I drag across the desktop, I get a + by the cursor as expected, but as soon as I hover the dropzone I get a barred icon.

ayryq

I still have to try your technique, but can already see a possibility to achieve something else I want to do  :)

Many thanks for the ideas, I will give them both a try shortly. I have found that in Win 10 copy/move of images has added an extra click to overcome duplicates, for one image it is not a problem, and locally you don't get the warning,  but the more single web images your working with, it soon adds up.

N.A.N.Y. 2011 / Re: NANY 2011 Release: List Numberer
« on: October 07, 2015, 12:16 PM »
In my case it works in that I have a blank source, add a prefix a number and suffix and I can create a list :)

Great for creating a sequential URL list for processing elsewhere.

Between Prefix and Suffix, though wasn't exactly sure where the number would appear :)

It may just need clarification of where it will appear.

Possible bug in o/s W10

Hope this will reproduce it in other o/s

Source three rows of "Original"

Prefix "Long"
Suffix ".jpg"
System Decimal
Start Numbering at "008"
Increment Numbering by "1"
Pad to this many places "3"

Preview
Long008.jpgOriginal
Long009.jpgOriginal
Long010.jpgOriginal

I am using the util to create a long url list in format Prefix/sequentialnumber/suffix
but the above illustrates the issues

Where should "Original" appear?

Another feature that might prove useful when handling large numbers of files would be to an option to ignore files where any of the tags are empty and leave them where they are, rather than moving to a folder such as Fix Me. This would then allow for the possibility of other clues in the folder or folder name/path.

First of all based on the following criteria, does this already exist? If not a request.

Place a dropzone on the desktop (Win7-64)

Left click an image on the internet and drag to the dropzone.

Ideally provide an option to bypass the Windows Security warning. or auto accept if cursor over dropzone

On dropping on the dropzone, provide a rename function to use a standardised format such as

PREFIX YYYY-MM-DD_HH-SS SUFFIX

Auto move to predefined default location.

Ideally
Permit multiple instances, or preferably multiple dockable zones with separate settings probably 3-4 would suffice for most needs

Possibly with the option for the user to assign an icon/image for each box.

See, not looking for much :)

Would it be possible on exit to compare the content of the Tag options field to the content of the templates.txt and offer to add it if it does not exist.

This would eliminate mistakes like mine, and remind people to save their templates.

84
OK. I think I have a clue! It may be a misunderstanding on my part of the function.

I have not been creating a template using the pop-up window and saving it. I have just been putting $album in the Tag options field. Seeing it in the ini, made me think it was being saved there and retrieved from there. I am now thinking the ini is only showing the last used? And the templates.txt, is where the token should be saved?

85
Hi Jody templates.txt file is empty

Here is the content of the ini, less source and destination paths.

[Settings]
Template=$album
Missing=-= FixMe =
Close=0
Recurse=1
Show_Folder=0
File_Mod=1
Artist_Default=1

Move_Copy=1

86
Hi Jody, I have no entries in the tag list. I only installed a few days ago and have only used $album. to get files that had got separated back together before processing in mp3tag.

As to tag, well spotted. fixed it in mp3tag

87
Hi Jody, looking at the ini file, I would say it's not a UAC issue

What is happening is that you can create a template. $album, which gets saved to the ini on close. But when you re-open it is not reading that field from the ini, though the template is there.

I will zip the file set and upload to the web and PM you a link.  I can get it to consistently fail.

88
There seems to be a bug... :) v1.1.1 build 2

I have a file set that it sends to Fix Me rather than processing. It is not the first set to be processed incorrectly. It seems to be 1 in 100 or so. Only using one tag.

Additionally, not sure if it is a bug, but in Win 10 The tag template is not stored between sessions, though all other selections are.

Post New Requests Here / Re: IDEA: Image Append - Batch
« on: June 02, 2014, 08:30 AM »
Basically the current concept is two images, in JPG put on a canvas so one is above the other
Think newspaper folded in middle

In general all images are the same size

The way I can explain it is using the image widths a canvas would be created based on the greater, and height would be created by the sum of the image heights, plus a few pixels for a separation line. The top image (A) would be pasted relative to top left corner, whilst the bottom (B)) relative to bottom left corner

A
B

At a later time it may be useful to have an option for 4 quadrants.

The broken link was for PhotoSheet in this thread. https://www.donation....msg146615#msg146615

I did find the website later, though it doesn't do what is needed.

The main thing with this is automation of the joining process.

Post New Requests Here / IDEA: Image Append - Batch
« on: June 02, 2014, 01:39 AM »
I have looked in the forums, seen a few ideas, and the one most promising, broken link!

I am in the process of photographing newspapers for the local museum, there are 150 years of them, and the sheet are about 28 inches high by 18 wide. To get a readable image, I have had to photograph in 2 passes so I get 14 x 18

I now need to stack the photographs Top over Bottom.

I do not need to stitch them, even though I have provided a reasonable overlap of text.

I just need one above the other, possibly with a separating line

There must be no scaling or re-compression as this may affect the image

It also needs to do this in batch, as I have 52 papers a year, each with lots of pages. The images have been placed in one folder per page, and in the folder both part have been renamed to put them in the correct order.

Anyone encountered something like this? Or is this a doable. I don't fancy joining 90000+ pages in the long term, as I would rather be getting on with the photographing, as time is against me and the papers, which can only deteriorate.

Hi Jody, a clue to the paths issue, which makes me think it is something to do with the field where we enter the Destination path. The fact that the source path can be entered in the required format lends to a belief something odd is going on.

I can create the path directly in the settings file, which loads OK and functions correctly

\\NSA-4\++++START   (.*?) - (.*?)x(.*?)   \\NSA-4\++++FINISH\??1 [s0??2]   No   Yes

There is one issue with doing this in the saved settings file and that is the entries are a continuous line. Could they be made into one per line this would simplify manual edits to overcome the path issue.

EDIT
Ok there is a second issue, and that seems to be related to the line length.

Finished Programs / Re: File Punter - BUG
« on: December 08, 2013, 03:20 PM »
Hi Jody, sure merge away :) I am at present splitting my time between several time eating tasks and trying to prepare for the holiday season. I have just downloaded and will test shortly.

The odd thing about the path's is that a network location works for the source just not destination.

It doesn't help that I am still installing software after replacing the HDD and starting from scratch in an attempt to find what program has been causing the computer to effectively stall at times, with no obvious processor or memory issues, then it just continues!

And to add a feature request or two.

When you start to get long list of options, it would be nice to be able to insert a blank line :)

Additionally, it would be nice to be able to apply to folders. (The contents of the folder would go with the folder to it's new destination no matter what their name)

And one other option, a Notes column to allow us a reminder of what the option was for in the first place :)

Post New Requests Here / Re: Separate out and move files to subfolders
« on: November 11, 2013, 04:07 PM »
Ok , I will give you some perspective as to how your program should work.

Just using explorer I created a folder with 20000 jpg files totalling 4.56GB

It took 4 minutes to copy to another directory on the same drive 4412 files with a total of 1.13GB

So extrapolating, 20000 files will take around 20 minutes

So 100,000 files will take 100 minutes

And this is before you try and do something clever with the files.

The transfer rate was approximately 4.7MB/s

If you were moving the files rather than copying it would probably be far quicker, especially to a different drive, and preferably clean, as these small files just like filling up any fragmentation in  a drive

For source dir you can use a network location

\\NAS\START

but you can not use for destination.

On Update Entry

Error dialogue
Destination DRIVE does not exist. Please chose a valid destination.

At present the only solution is to map the drive to a letter.

Hi Jody, many thanks will be a few days before I can test, rebuilding the PC :(

Post New Requests Here / IDEA:Internet Shortcut URL Extractor
« on: October 23, 2013, 05:05 PM »
The basic concept of my idea is the ability to look at an Internet Shortcut and extract the URL to a txt file in the same folder using the same name

Ie

Internet shortcut
>
Internet Shortcut.txt containing the URL

The ability to process every subfolder in a selected folder and perform this funtion would reduce several hours work to minutes. An aditional option of ignoring if the appropriate txt files already exists would be great, as it would allow a fast re-run if required a a later date.

AHK is preferable as I can then learn better how it is done. :)

« on: May 09, 2013, 12:25 AM »
wr975 - I have been using WinRAR since the stoneage, and never noticed that. Probably because I tend to go for right-click archive, so as a temporary solution it will work fine.

4wd - Many thanks, though as I get older, simpler is better so probably Jody incorporating into spinzip, woudl give me thhe other options too with a nice simple GUI for a nice simple me :)

c.gingerich - I think for myself , spinzip will possibly provide the best solution longterm, as I will not be the only one using it. wiffey also has to understand it, and we try to keep the same software on both machines, so we can each swap if neccesary :)

Another option might be to allow selection based on file creation date between two dates

A question , as it doesn't yet fit my criteria, when including subdirectories, does it maintain structure or flat pack the files to one level ?

Post New Requests Here / Re: Remember where I got the Download
« on: April 30, 2013, 01:25 PM »
I tend to do similar to those above, but rather than a screenshot, I save the webpage, which usually goes to the same folder as the download, I also tend to leave the download folder open, so I can also drag the favicon from the URL, which creates a link to the page. Maybe there is a way to automate the creation of a shortcut at save time.
