Hey Nudone,

As I'm sure we are ALL aware, it is normal for people (in other words average - some very little, some a lot) to lose the ability to hear very high frequencies as they age. However, I think the idea that there would be a marked dropoff from the time one is 20 to the time one is 40 is simply absurd.

Although I am really slow on the draw here, I would like to third zridling's sentiment. I recently began to consider replacing my firewall. I found the information contained in this review to be very helpful and informative. Thank you for doing an outstanding job,  particularly in pointing out important features to have in a firewall as well as the strengths and weaknesses of these programs.

Does anyone know about Bit Defender 9 Professional Plus? It appears to be a relatively new, fairly comprehensive programs for dealing with today's evils.

Herre is the process for XP

1.   Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then press ENTER.   
2.   Navigate to the following subkey:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced
3.   Right-click the right pane, create a new DWORD value, and then name it EnableBalloonTips.   
4.   Double-click this new entry, and then give it a hexadecimal value of 0.   
5.   Quit Registry Editor. Log off Windows, and then log back on.   

These steps disable all Notification Area balloon tips for this user. There is no way to disable balloon tips for specific programs only.

While I agree with everything that's been said, I think the problem is MUCH bigger. Other SIMILAR issues might include browsing web sites, chatting on IRC and other services, working on computer programs, etc. So it's not about email, it's about doing anything on a computer.

I use DameWare Mini Remote Control. I find the name misleading as it has a pretty comprehesive set of features. File transfer could be enhanced and screen updates are not as fast as Real VNC. I would value any input about experiences that people have had with software of this type.

Yes, your script shows me how to do much, perhaps most, of the work.  Thanks for illustrating that part of the process.

I installed AHK a couple days ago and am just getting started with it, but I thought it would be the perfect way to handle this issue and give me some good practice besides.

Hi all.

I generally appreciate the information the OS gives me in bubble messages. The big exception, however, is when my wifi link connects, disconnects, connects, disconnects, etc. The message is something like "Wireless Internet Connection is now connected." I see this message about 15 times/day and I'm sick of it. Each time, it 'patiently waits' for me to close it, not only annoying me, but demanding attention as well.

I would love a program that could close this message, maybe a few (specifyable) seconds after it opens. That way I know I am losing and re-establishing my connection, but I don't have to close the window myself. It might also be nice though if I could sometimes eliminate this window completely, perhaps by making it invisible or closing it before it could be drawn on the screen.

Ideally, this program would be an ahk script so I could learn from the code, though I know that beggers can't be choosers. However, I would be THRILLED to have a program written in ANY language that would do this.

Please let me know if you would like any additional information.
