DC Gamer Club / Your Chance To BETA Test
« on: April 22, 2014, 12:13 PM »
I am currently testing a game called "Extraction".  It is an online shooter arena game. The folks I am testing for are trying to do a load test, and need 6000 testers to log in tonight. If you would like to test, here is a the link to use:

https://my.betabound...4C9796745477CAF12C98

It is not spam, and at no time will you be asked for any payment of any type whatsoever.  I have been testing this for a few weeks now.

Enjoy!

Damn, cool site man. One of my favorites was (the unfortunately 16-bit) Jasc ImageCommander v2.00 (from 1996) until I jumped to a 64-bit machine here at work.

In for one, still working April 2nd 7:49am EST.

I still use Jasc animated GIF maker.  I got it with Paint Shop Pro back in the day.

I am down for this.  That is one of the reasons I stopped playing it daily is the punks and trolls.  Private server with friends?  Yes please.

I play this a lot.  If I had know someone wanted a copy, I would have chipped in.  I guess I need to read more often...

It is about monetization.  The Legal methods are, like everything else in the US, inundated with advertising.  Pirated recordings don't have the ever present pervasive advertising.

33
My children know they have absolutely no expectation of privacy when it comes to the Internet, their phones, the television Etc.  I monitor them, and then counsel them. After so long  being monitored, it has actually had the effect of creating trust and respect between my children and I, as well as teaching right from wrong.  When I was a child, we didn't have the devices and access we do now, yet I still was monitored and had no privacy.  As a child it got under my skin due to the fact our maturing brains work that way, but taught me the right lessons.  As an adult I see the benefits and reasons for monitoring.

I can honestly say, after watching what they do for so long, that I monitor them now more for keeping them away from links or people that specifically prey on children.  Whether it be for monetary reasons or for other, more sick reasons.

WHOA!  I cannot believe in all the time I have used Startup CPL that I never noticed that little gem.  I honestly appreciate you pointing that out, VERY useful little program.  I wonder if it can detect changes under 64bit as well...

I am still using the older version of Spybot Search & Destroy. The Teatimer resident part of the software warns me and asks me if i would like to allow or not allow the entry.  Not only that, but it also warns of other registry changes as well.

I don't recall MLin's Startup CPL ever warning me, and I have been using it since XP. Plus it is only 32 bit. Autoruns is the best way to see what is starting with your computer, and I cannot live without Tiny Watcher.

Previous version of Spybot Search & Destroy 1.6.2: http://www.safer-net...rking.org/mirrors16/
Tiny Watcher: http://kubicle.dcmembers.com/watcher/
Startup Control Panel: http://www.mlin.net/StartupCPL.shtml (Also has a standalone EXE)

General Software Discussion / Re: Freeware = CRAP!
« on: July 24, 2013, 06:39 AM »
I am one of those many thousands of users.  I have used Screenshot Captor since its creation, and have never seen one advertisement. Donation Coder creates some of the best free software on the Internet, I even use some of it in my workplace, approved by our System Administrator.

You should use Malwarebytes Antimalware and Spybot Search and Destroy to run a complete scan on your system to see what is causing your issues. It is definitely not Screenshot Captor.

Ant Movie Catalog. Stores your movies offline, looks up info from MANY sources online.  Best catalog I have ever used, and free.  I have used it for years.

This could not have come at a better time.  Mouser, my company, BSI Financial, is moving to an Amazon S3 solution for storage of documents.  Mainly TIF and PDF formats. We are looking for two things.

A branded software (BSI) for browsing Amazon S3 storage with Boolean search and possibly inline image preview, that mimics Windows Explorer with as close to that feature set as possible.

A web interface for flat folder browsing of a specified bucket on Amazon. Like virtual file browsing.

We are getting ready to pay $5000 for 250 licenses of another software, however I think we can do better.  I chose the other software for ease of use and feature set. Some of our investors have access to their documents, so we will be distributing software to them.  We would prefer it to be branded, of course, and would prefer a simple web interface as well.

I am sending you a PM with my contact information.

I wanted something similar, a small toolbar to control Winamp.  Something that integrates directly into Windows Explorer or the title bar of whatever program I happen to be using...

Adventures of Baby Cody / Cody Update
« on: January 12, 2013, 08:15 AM »
Quick update on Cody:

The person to send him to has been selected and I have his address, but I have not had the time to get to the post office in our town.  My wife has been off work since March (cancer) and is just getting well enough that she can get back to work.  I started a new job (wasn't making enough at the old one for our family) after being laid off for the summer, so I am working 8-6 or 7pm every day except Sunday.  I am posting this from work now and hoping I don't get caught. Since our post office is only open 9-5 Monday-Friday , I have not had the chance to get there, and no one else in my family or our technologically challenged town understands about my beloved DC or Cody. He is resting comfortably in his spiffy mailing accommodations.  I finally earn some time off after my 90 day mark, which is January 22nd. I plan on taking an immediate day off then, I need it.  I will mail him then.

Sorry for the delay, this was unexpected when we received him, I had plans.  We live in the birthplace of the oil industry, and there are so many places for him to visit here.

Not to resurrect a dead thread, but I have been using File Punter a lot.  I was wondering if there is command line support?  I would like ot be able to use task manager to run it at a regular interval to organize files.  The Perl flavored RegEx is beautiful.

Hmmm...no takers?  Reply to this post if you want Cody to visit.  I currently have him,and he is getting quite bored sitting here on my desk all day, not to mention terrorizing my 140 lb. Eastern European Shepherd. It is time for him to move on.
