Hi,

After making a few changes on a screenshot, if a different picture is selected on the "Thumbnail Panel" there will be shown a pop up with a few saving options, a combobox and a "Ok" button.

This topology requires too many clicks and readding everytime one want to just answer "Overrwrite" or "Abandon Changes" and therefore addition of these two buttons instead of just a "Ok" button could be realy a nice thing. (BUG: if you click "X" to close this dialog the "OK" button function is triggered)

Another more complex idea would be to make a "Auto copy to clipboard when ScreenshotCapture looses focus" setting so that one could take a screenshot, make a few changes (Highlight something for example) , and right after changing application (to outlook for example) the picture could be automaticly saved on clipboard, so one could paste it directly...  (At the moment even CTRL+C does not work all the time and one has to go to Edit menu to make a copy... strange...)

Have a great day and thank you for this excelent application

Seems really nice, thanks for sharing :)

Unfortunatly it does not work in my computer (W7 32b, latest FARR), after troubleshooting found the window gets out of focus with the sleep command {sleep 1500}

Tried, offcourse, taking it out or increasing but it does not help..

If I just lauch the command and do the keys by myself then it works...

Complicated?!

Find And Run Robot / Launch, stay open and continue searching
« on: February 21, 2012, 05:14 PM »
Hi Mouser,

The option ctrl+dlbclick to launch and stay open works really well.

A great functionality that could be added would be to continue the search after launching
(at the moment, if I am searching for some subject, the results are being populated, but, as soon as one file is launched the search stops... that is ok for normal launching.. but with the "launch and stay open" it would be much better if the search would continue...)

What do you think of this idea?

Have a great day!

Hi,

I have the same problem on network folders (\\Computername\...)
...all the icons are the same: a blue backgound with a "c:\" text...

Any suggestions?

Great day for everyone :)

Thats Good news! Great Work mouser!

Hi,

Thanks for the comments, this is great!!
Was wanting this for so long and it was there after all!!!

(Have the keyboard shortcut when showing the option can be a great addition.. like when you right click a file in FARR, the menu has "Launch and stay open"
and could be replaced with "Launch and stay open [Ctrl DblClick]")

CTRL Click instead of CTRL Double click could be nice as well, but, thats details :)

A great functionality that could be added with this "launch and stay open" is to continue the search after launching
(at the moment, if I am searching for some subject, the results are being populated, but, as soon as one file is launched the search stops... that is ok for normal launching.. but with the "launch and stay open" it would be much better if the search would continue...)

Have a great day!

Hi,

Is there any Keyboard+mouse combination for the "Launch and stay open" option? A combination like shift+click or something like that would be quite handy :)

Have a great day.

PS: Can't wait for an SSD drive to make FARR to fly :)

Do you happen to have something like this?

Nice,

I tryed "-." and it also works.
Not faster than when searching for files,.. but very handy :)

Hi,

I was wondering if there is any fast way to search in network drives?

One thing that would do the job for me is a way to search only for folders (could be faster because there is no need to parse every file..)

Is it technically possible, or would it be as slow?

Every time I want to search only for folders I create a new parameter in the "FARR search folders" with a odd extention like "ZZZZZZZZZ"
This is not the best way right?

Hi, sorry for my late answer, I was expecting a notification of this post reply, but I might have forgotten to click the notify button!!

It says :

"Do you want to allow the following program, from an unknown publisher, to make changes on this computer"
Program name: Fileandrunrobot.exe
publisher:unknown
file origin: hard drive on this computer
"

Have a great day,

Hi,

DcUpdater plugin is very useful but would benefit to use portable settings as well... it is writing to document&settings\user\DocnationCoder\DcUpdater...

I am using:
CONFIGDIR = .
PORTABLE=TRUE

Another detail regards a UAC message that happens all the systems startup...

( Even tried the new option (even though I plan not to use it often because I rather to have updated results based on launch history):
"Disable normal saving of settings except when explicity closing o"
.. didn't solve)

This UAC wouln't be any problem if only I wasn't binded to group policies re enable UAC eveytime my computer starts!!

could it be some plugin to trigger this or is something internal?

I am using "unreal commander" instead of Windows explorer and in a protable version as well, and it does not trigger UAC.. so maybe it is thecnicaly possible with FARR.. :)

93
Great ideas :D

The seamless plugin option seems quite great, flexible and maybe faster to be available.
Personally, I have windows search active, so it wouldn't require extra CPU load to use it. (maybe its not the best to narrow the search to specific folders and file types... I'm not so familiar with this... Maybe there are better indexers to cope with FARR)

Two hot keys could be used to launch FARR, one for the normal search and other for the index mode... Or maybe just an option in the setting...

Have a great day:D

Find And Run Robot / FARR Problem with running in Portably on Win7
« on: October 02, 2011, 04:51 PM »
Ihaaaaa:) :) :)

Problem solved!! Thank you do much!!

Portable=true was already uncommented, but in that very same file, there was not defined any config dir, I uncommented the line below and it started to work just great!
Configdir=.

Thank you so much for your tips and quick reply :D :D

I just noticed that I did not post into the right place, sorry about that.

Have a great day!

Find And Run Robot / FARR Problem with running in Portably on Win7
« on: October 02, 2011, 05:01 AM »
Hi,

I was trying to use this application on a company computer.. The problem is that the computer is using some kind of clouding (I have no details on it) that might be causing some issues

The computer has a Windows 7 64b, and application stored on "D:\FARR\FindAndRunRobot.exe"

Whenever I try to launch it I get some error messages that I below describe

(The server has actually a different name that I do not want to specify here, so I just replaced with server.com)

"
File and Run Robot
------------------
Error:
\\server.com\personal\DonationCoder\FileAndRunRobot\FileAndRunRobot.ini
is not a Find and Run Robot configuration file.
Please delete it if the problem persists
"

followed by

"
File and Run Robot
------------------
ATTN: ERROR CREATING LOG FILE
\\server.com\personal\DonationCoder\FileAndRunRobot\FarrTroubleshooting.log
"

The settings are from scratch, so I try to add a search directory manually and get:

"
File and Run Robot
------------------
Failed to delete previous temp file
\\server.com\personal\DonationCoder\FileAndRunRobot\FileAndRunRobot.ini.tmp
"

Quitting the application has the same saving the ini/tmp file error.

I have checked the .ini file and it is great, works fine on other computers and I can open it in notepad with no problems...

The problem seems to be the could thing, but its a company policy that I cannot do anything against...

I have tried to run the application in c:\windows\temp in an attempt to trick the could.. but the cloud seems to be binding all the computer folders..

On the other hand, it seems that FARR is not as portable as I first thought:
it goes from D:\FARR\" to that server
I find it strange that is not only the drive is changing from "d:\" to the "\\server.com\" but also the rest of the path from "FARR\.." to "personal\DonationCoder\FileAndRunRobot\"

Is there any thing you could do/suggest to help me with this?

I was using FARR "portable" to keep settings, but I have also tried to use the installation and tried to delete the ini file... same problem: no settings are saved!!

Have a great day :)

On specific Folders that I have text files, I would like to have the option to search the content of the file as well. (maybe with a keyword modifier)

Example:

When searching "Fight Club" I would like to get the result :"C:\my .txt\My Movies.txt

Congratulations for this great application. :)
