Fundraisers with themes, and random gifts (electronic or physical, either way) are always great fun, even without the gifts and such, they are always brilliant if they are themed.

3152
Wow, its amazing how simple yet effective those methods are.

There might be a few things you can learn from that mouser.

3153
Thats the thing about it, even as a default theme, you can sit there and thing, "ill just change the products, logo and slideshow and leave things as they are" instead of some, like Zen, or osCommerce where you think "right, EVERYTHING needs to go...now HOW do I do it?" lol

I know when I first installed it I thought "Wow, I hardly have to touch it"

**edit**

I may review this...hmm...yeah...I think I will, keep a look-out on the reviews section, it will be there within 24 hours

3154
ah damnit, cheers for pointing that out lol

**edit**

Fixed it on my post...didnt change the quote tho lol, oh well, at least it doesnt make all this look like a strange convo about nothing lol

3155
Awesome, would certainly love to see the outcome.

If you need any help, gimme a shout, im not exactly a pro with it, but spent a fair few hours figuring out the admin side of things now :)

3156
haha, it doesnt really hide anything anyway.

If you would rather use a fully featured, open source, free, ecommerce script, i would HIGHLY recommend www.tomatocart.com

The admin back-end of that is without competition and the slick design is so simple to modify even a person with very little knowledge of web-design could manage it in a click.
Stephen!  Thanks!  That looks so awesome.  i was dreading the deadline I've set because i wasn't sure if I could set up a good looking store in time.  And i didn't want to pay an hourly programmer's salary, nor did I want any of those monthly fee managed solutions.  This tomatocart looks really great.

I am currently helping a friend open his online based clothing store using that, we switched from Zen last night, after finding that and seeing the demos in action, its beyond amazing, and it seems to be able to use osCommerce scripts and addons (dont quote me, but some files in the admin tool show "osCommerce" as the author, so im figuring that it does).

Be sure to check in the admin tool for ALL options from the start menu, as some are hidden, but very very handy, and you can add all the links to your Virtual Desktop Panel.

**edit**

Would love to see what you did with this when your finished if you end up going with it :D

Post New Requests Here / Re: Idea: Productivity Suite and Monitor.
« on: November 16, 2010, 10:11 AM »
I reckon if you required the coders to use a Version Control System (source manager), you could monitor their check-in and check-out activity. There are basic "activity level" graphs for most such systems, and I'm sure there are more advanced activity analysis modules/plugins for e.g. SVN, Mercurial, Git, etc. Use of a VCS is advisable for any coding project anyway, and most professional coding teams/groups should already be using one. They might not like you requiring them to use yours, but again you can just make it part of the terms of your contract.

I didnt know about those peices of software, and I will certainly look into them, thanks for the links.

Hi Stephen

I'm not sure how workable this is anyway, calculating how many words a person types a minute, is not a good gauge as to how hard someone is working.  To me, getting the right result at the end is better.

When I do development work for people, I ensure a fixed cost for the work I do, with a target date. Then, it doesn't matter when I work or how often. So long as I 'deliver the goods' at the agreed time, to a agreed standard then I get paid.  If I run late, that's my fault. If I finish early, that's my advantage.

Logging how many times I twiddle the mouse or type code does not tell you how hard I am looking, I could be researching on line for two hours to write 10 mins worth of code.

Does that make sense?

Looking at it that way, I realise that this probs aint the best way forward, I will be looking into other methods for sure.

Cheers for the info guys

While you can use secure deletion software that is often touted as "military secure", US security policies for data deletion require incinerating the drive.
So, if I turn off all of the fans in my machine…

Hey guys,

Let me introduce you to my hosting company, "That Hosting Site".
156373_header.png

Before I get to all the detailed information, let me mention the fact that I have set all my prices to be highly competitive and we offer Live Support for all our clients.

Please let me know if you find the prices too high, or notice anything wrong with any section of the website.

Thanks
-Stephen

That Hosting Site offers the following services:

Shared Website Hosting
We offer full-featured web hosting and domain name services and FREE marketing and web content tools designed for both individuals and businesses. Through a user-friendly interface you have total control over your website without needing to possess any technical skills. Depending on your particular online demands, you can choose between a variety of carefully set-up hosting packages supporting three versions of PHP (PHP 4/5/6) and the latest stable releases of MySQL and PostgreSQL.

Semi-Dedicated Website Hosting
• Semi-dedicated plans for ‘grown-up’ shared users
Your online demands have grown so much that the regular shared hosting service is not already a perfect fit? Your websites are so traffic-consuming and stuffed with running applications and programs that the most generously packed web hosting plan could hardly accommodate them? Your diagnosis then is – ‘in need of a semi-dedicated hosting solution’. Our Semi-dedicated Servers have been set up to meet your increased demands of basic server resources, giving you a robust basis to keep expanding your web presence and reinforcing your competitiveness.

Our semi-dedicated servers have been set-up in accordance with the latest trends on the advanced hosting market, giving you generous amounts of server resources.

Virtual Private Servers
• VPS hosting solution for advanced users
Our Virtual Private Servers are intended for advanced users who need to manage their own private server but are not yet ready to resort to a dedicated hosting solution due to the high maintenance costs. VPS servers are based on an innovative virtualization technology, allowing for each VPS user to be completely independent from the others on the same machine in terms of software and server resources usage.

This unique technology empowers us to allocate generous amounts of RAM memory, CPU and network resources to your VPS account and stand behind the guarantee that you will be receiving them at any given moment.

Dedicated Servers
• Dedicated servers for total online independence
Our dedicated servers are configured to match your ever-growing web presence needs. Each server setup offers you a totally independent hosting environment where you can take advantage of all the available server resources for your online and offline content management operations. You will have under your full control a whole server machine, boasting a robust hardware configuration, powerful operational parameters and stable network characteristics. Your server comes with a 99.9% network uptime guarantee will be set up for you free of charge.

Each dedicated server is equipped with an OS installation of your choice. You will have root access to the server and will be able to install and configure any software you need.

Domain Registeration/Tranfers
Choosing a domain name is very important for your online uniqueness. To get a good name for your web site you should set up an Internet address, otherwise known as registering a domain name. With our web hosting plans, you can choose among a wide range of domain extensions. Pick one that is well descriptive of your website's main subject. A well-formulated word combination - easy to memorize and spell, will maximize the value of your online presence and help you maintain a good ranking in all search engines.

Our Mission:
It may sound unbelievable but the majority of the big companies in the web hosting business usually do not invest much in the development of new technologies. Instead they rely on 3rd party solutions and software. Unlike theirs, our hosting software was created, developed and designed in-house by us. Moreover, our business approach is human-oriented in that our client support is a center factor in the quality hosting service that we offer.

OK, not exactly outside of my window, but instead, just outside my old house.

Decided to test out my new Camera Phone (8MP Samsung Pixon) - Straight from the lens shot

-1 Exposure is the only change I made to the camera settings (On a side note, the -phone has more options inside the camera feature than my actual 10mp Digital Camera which cost £145GBP does...).

Other than the windmill, all these where taken on the same night.

Post New Requests Here / Re: IDEA: Double Clipboard Hotkey
« on: November 12, 2010, 07:06 PM »
Actually, this is an idea I have been toying with and could see being very very usefull, especially when dealing with large PSD files where im chopping from other files to make the content.

Certainly seems like it could be an epic idea, and with the possibility to hotkey any amount of paste buttons, it would be nice to be able to do the following:

Clipboard Amount = 9

Copy Key = Ctrl + (left) Shift + 1 (through 9) so
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9

I now have 9 items on the clipboard

to paste, i would simply want to do:

CRTL + (right) shift 1 (through 9)
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9

this should work for both the numpad AND the numbers above "qwertyuiop"

WIN + Shift + 1 (or w/e number u want) will delete that pic from clipboard.

Perhaps, as an added bonus for those of us with multiple screens we could have a window open when we copy to show us what is on the clipboard for each key.

For those without, this could be a toolbar at the bottom of the screen (Movable to be like the taskbar {Snaps to bottom right, left or top})

Very rough and untidy mockup below:
(Aspect Size when full = 1024x768 - File Size 19.7kb)
copypaste.png

Bottom section only shows a limited number of boxes, but can scroll left and right, top is obvious, it just shows u in a larger format what each is, and show (like the toolbar) the shortcut for each.

Just found this while bumbling aimlessly around facebook which people might find interesting:

Link:

http://www.facebook..../careers/puzzles.php

Info:

If you love puzzles like we do, become a fan of the new Puzzle Master Facebook Page. Notes are regularly posted to answer questions, explain puzzles, and announce new things. While you're here, try your hand at the following puzzles. The larger the difficulty, the harder it gets (hors d'oeuvres are simple tests to help you out).
PPFacebook.png

Submission directions:

All submissions must execute in a *NIX type environment (sorry, no Windows specific solutions are accepted). You are not guaranteed any libraries or plugins beyond what is part of the language/interpreter itself. The following languages are accepted:
GNU C/C++ 4.2.3
Ericsson Erlang 5.5.5
GHC Haskell 6.8.2
Sun Java 1.5.0_15
INRIA OCaml 3.10.0
Perl 5.8.8
PHP 5.2.4
Python 2.5.2
Ruby 1.8.6
Some puzzles may require being solved with the following libraries:
Thrift r760184 (Download Link - Redirected To Server Via Facebook)

PPFacebook2.png

How To Submit:

Follow all of the following directions or your submission may be considered incorrect.
Submissions should be sent via email to the address: {0xFACEB00C>>2 in decimal}@facebook.com
The subject line of the email must exactly match the puzzle keyword. Failure to do so means your submission will not be evaluated. Submissions are evaluated and the results emailed back every four hours.
If you have a Facebook account, send your submission from the same email address you login to Facebook, or we may not be able to find you!
The actual text body of the email will be ignored for grading purposes. Make sure all solution materials are attachments (see below).
Your solution must build or supply an executable file/script whose name is exactly the same as the puzzle keyword (case-sensitive). You do not have to worry about file permissions for the main executable, they will be checked and/or set for you.
You may compress/archive your solution files with tar or zip. The file extensions of these archives must be .zip, .tar, .tar.gz, .tgz, or .tar.bz2. If you compress your solution, only submit one compressed file.
If you compressed your solution, any Makefile/build.xml files (and the executable file itself) need to be uncompressed and/or built into the same root directory as the compressed archive itself or your submission will result in a build error.
If your solutions uses one of the compiled languages, it must be buildable using either GNU Make 3.81 or Ant 1.7.0 using the commands make or ant from the root directory where your submission is stored. You must supply your own makefiles or build.xml files.
You may assume the compilers are within the execution environment's path. The interpreted scripting languages have been installed in both /usr/bin and /usr/local/bin (the only exceptions are /bin/bash and /bin/sh)
If you make a mistake in your submission, you may send another email. Prior incorrect or malformed submissions will not be counted against you.
For extra credit, you may submit additional solutions in different languages. Submit each solution as a separate email. Every solution must be implemented in a language from the provided list.

I have a few hand drawn ones I can get on here tonight for you.

(I would have done earlier, but you mentioned wanting to do this on IRC and failed to mention you where actually posting about it lol)

I used this before and remembered it being 'fun' for the first 20 minutes, and then I started to find my computer almost falling apart at the seams.

I dunno if it was the version I was running but the sheer amount of bugs and problems it had scared me away.

Any clues if they fixed?
