Screenshot Captor / Re: strange bug: load/display last image
« on: October 08, 2005, 04:44 AM »
i should increase middle version occasionally and use last version for builds instead of every update.
the reason i dont update the release page when doing tests is that
it gets picked up by sites like fileforum and announced.
Ah, ok! You should release 2.1 as soon as this bug is fixed :)

ok new version up, see if it works.  if so then i still need help testing why the old code wasnt working.. if it doesnt work then its a dif bug we need to fix.  ps check your about box, it should say 2.00.18 now (i think previous version should have said 2.00.17 btw unless i messed up).
It shows .18 but it's still not working :(

Btw, the download page says the latest version is "Screenshot Captor 2.00.14", the "about" info says it's .16 - a bit confusing...  ;)
I understand why you don't want to change "Screenshot Captor 2.00.14" on the download page.

Idea: use .1400, .1401, .1402 etc. in the "about" info instead of .14, .15, .16 etc.

if it does then we can try a version where i disable this new code and see if that fixes it.
The new version didn't fix it, lets try with disabled new code.

ok, let me finish some more changes and then reupload a new version to test.
Great!

:-\ "... after running Ghoster" is a problem. I should really clean up before exiting, but the quick solution is to activate the task bar before quitting.
Thanks, that really worked 2 of 3 times when I just tested it :)
If you could add the cleaning up to the script it would be really great! And btw, it's still saying version 1.0

3) so if you click on another, and then back on last, it displays it, is that right?
that's right!

if this bug happens reliably for you brotherS, please don't do anything like delete any files or change any settings -

can you try the new version i just uploaded (normal download link) and see if the problem is still there?
I tried - but that installer was *exactly* the same size as the installer I downloaded yesterday and has the same problem.

That's easy  ;)

You just google around a bit and find nice sites like http://www.countrycallingcodes.com/ :)

Screenshot Captor / Re: stuff missing in preview when saving?
« on: October 07, 2005, 01:11 PM »
did you happen to use the Tool command in Screenshot Captor to launch and edit the image file with an external program?
No.

what format is the file?
The background was a JPG file, the image I added in the foreground (using "Edit/Copy image to clipboard" and "Edit/Past clipboard image as new object") PNG.

And what I noticed just now:
filesize of original JGP:      160 kb
filesize of original PNG:       73 kb
filesize of resulting PNG: 1342 kb!?
:o

Screenshot Captor / strange bug: load/display last image
« on: October 07, 2005, 01:03 PM »
I found a very strange bug in the latest version. To reproduce,
  • start Screenshot Captor (maybe you need to make sure to have about 20 images in the screenshot folder, that's the amount I have)
  • notice that no image is loaded by default
  • now click ONCE on the last image that's shown in the buttom left as a thumbnail
It will not display that image :(

I first thought it was related to the name/size/whatever of the image, but the same happened when I removed that... you can click all other images after you start Screenshot Captor, just not the last one.

Screenshot Captor / stuff missing in preview when saving?
« on: October 07, 2005, 11:56 AM »
I tested the new features of the latest version (great!), editing a CD front cover, adding stuff and so on. Last item I added was the "Emil" text, but why isn't that showing up in the preview when I clicked "Save as" (see left buttom corner)?

« on: October 07, 2005, 09:43 AM »
download on normal releases page:
https://www.donation...ftware/releases.html
Idea: make a sticky thread with THAT info as first post, then lock it. Always update THAT new thread when a new version comes up, changing the topic of the original post and adding a post with the added features and fixed bugs.

Great benefit:
one could subscribe that thread and could always get an email on updates.

:) The WINDOW window is the one covering the screen, and since it has to be on top, I don't know how to remove it from the Alt-Tab-chain.
Maybe the friendly AHK guys could help there? If it's even possible at all? Or the author maybe might add this as a new feature? :)

The speed is the limited by AutoHotkey, so I can only recommend you buy a faster PC.  :)
hehe, it's not brandnew, but not too old ;)

How does it interfere?
Strange, I couldn't reproduce one bug I had with that latest version... but it still messes with that window focus, tabbed windows mostly won't leave their foremost position on the desktop after running Ghoster....
:(

1963
Hmm, what about adding an additional option "...on Save" (which would be disabled by default), to make things more clear?

1964
You all know Skype, right? Yeah, that's cool, but...

http://www.voipbuster.com is even better! You can try it for free (up to one minute for each call) and if you just deposit 5 EUR (+ VAT) (using Credit Card, Paypal, ...) you can call regular phones in these countries for free:

  • Austria
  • Denmark
  • Finland
  • Germany
  • Greece
  • Ireland
  • Luxembourg
  • Netherlands
  • Norway
  • Portugal
  • Spain
  • Sweden
  • Switzerland
  • United Kingdom
  • United States

I love it! Quality is great!

It's even compatible to the SIP standard (can't give you details about that though since I use the VoipBuster program itself). Uses about 10-15 MB RAM, which is ok.

This is how it looks:

http://img396.imageshack.us/img396/8352/voipbuster8yw.png

I already made some calls and the deposit is still 5 EUR :)

1965
Nice!

Does "on Save as" mean it's not saved when you just click "Save" (instead of "Save as")?

:) Try the version I just uploaded, it should solve the tab flicker.

Skrommel
It does, but it has some problems:
  • it's rather slow
  • when I hit Alt-TAB I always see a AutoHotkey-Icon named "WINDOW"
  • it messes with that bring-windows-to-foreground-on-mouseover feature I use

:( Would be great if you could improve it

just a teaser image

I'm also going to add some commands for easily combining screenshots by placing them side by side, etc.
any more suggestions along this line?
Wow! Looks great, have to play with it myself to have more suggestions though :)

Screenshot Captor / suggestion: copy objects!
« on: October 06, 2005, 02:39 PM »
Hi,

when I added an object (highlighted something or draw an arrow) I'd like to be able to copy/paste it, to easily get *exact* copies of it.

Any chance for this? :)

Skrommel's Software / Re: Problems with Ghoster

:) If you compile Ghoster.ahk into Ghoster.exe and update your script to show exe instead of ahk, it should run properly. There's no process called Ghoster.ahk, it shows as AutoHotkey.exe.
Ah, nice, I will try that with the next version you release :)

What's the problem with tabbed windows?
See above please, the first two posts. Just ask if you need more details, I'm more than willing to give them to you.

Hi Skrommel, could you please look into the problem that we have with tabbed windows too? Would be great if this could be fixed :)

Also, this code perfectly starts Ghoster with a hotkey but does not close Ghoster as it should if it's already running - any idea why not?
^+p::
Process, Exist, Ghoster.ahk
pid=%ErrorLevel%
If pid=0
  Run,D:\Downloads\Ghoster.ahk
Else
  Process,Close,Ghoster.ahk
Return

And a suggestion: On https://www.donation...m/Software/Skrommel/ it still says "Ghoster v1.0" - maybe you could always (automatically?) write the date besides that when it is updated?

Here's a comment: I like the changes, good work!

Thanks :)

ProcessTamer / Re: feature request: kill process if...
« on: October 05, 2005, 11:38 AM »
I like the idea of Process Tamer but can't use it for the problem I have: one program that I run 24/7 sometimes acts up and then uses almost ~100% CPU. It won't react *anymore* so Process Tamer isn't able to reduce it's CPU load :(

This is why I would like a "kill process when CPU usage is more than (X) % for more than (Y) minutes" option. Maybe even with an additional "(XX) minutes after killing process (YY), start up .exe (ZZ)" option?
It would be even better if one could decide for specific tasks how long they are allowed to use more than X % CPU before they are killed. That way one could set a higher value for critical tasks and lower for non-critical. Also, a line that covers all the not named processes would be great... I hope you understand what I'm trying to say :)

GDI Objects and User Objects are columns in the table.

Youd want to look for any program with insane numbers like > 1000
Ah, ok, I had to enable those columns. I didn't find any >1000 but some with quite high numbers... (scroll to the very right) Comments?

Ok, I chose ProcessExplorer since they made some other nice tools too :)

Where do I find GDI usage in there? Here's some info to start with for you:

Thanks you two, see the running processes below. If you think "that's a LOT of IE instances!" you are right - since Firefox can't handle many tabs without using more than 200 or even more than 300 MB of RAM here I have to wait for the final 1.5 Firefox to use it again.

you need to install a program that reports memory/gdi use.
TaskInfo is the one i use but some other free ones have been reported on this forum.
Could you personally recommend some freeware tool for doing so?
