Added 'download" buttons for at least the latest version on all the apps download pages.

What I have noted that, when I designed the websites in google site, it was very simple i.e. not very complex. People could easily download files and I could easily make changes. Slowly slowly many options have been added by google and the default download links layout has been drastically changed, confusing people.

The logic of download button I found at somewhere else on one of the google site recently and started using it whenever I updated my apps. So the older apps webpages remained without the button.

Afraid if google decides something against the google site and auto adds ads etc. to them.

Yes, we geek sometime forget that for a normal user it may not be obvious.

I should have fixed it for Tell When Done download page, when I was fixing for Overlap Wallpaper download page. I promise to fix it soon and my other free apps download pages too.

Hi Tao, what Miles says is right. I remember using a utility, can not remember the name properly now, something like ATTUNE or so. I used it during Win98. It had options to run before installing a program, when it created snapshot of the current system files, registry etc. Then after installing the program, run ATTUNE (?) which again creates the snapshot of the files and registry changes.

Now when I need to uninstall the program, I run ATTUNE (?) and it restores the system and registry changes. But this caused problem if I have installed some other programs in between or Win updates happened etc. This program (ATTUNE ?)did not work in new Win version and I did not find the updated so I left it.

At present I think you can use Sanboxie, as per your requirement. Your main system remains clean when you remove the program in Sandboxie. I have not used it but others here may have idea of it.

To clarify -- I cannot afford (mentally or monetarily) to take on work at those kinds of rates
The idea I was proposing was like a raffle, so that if many people donate, only one would win a prize of having their custom app created.
But i think the main problem with this is pretty real -- that  very few people would care about or have need for this "prize".

From developer point : it is good news. Write once and run in both Android Phone and Windows machine.

Java existed much much before than Android happened.  I remember how our company tried to make Java applications so that we can sell to Win, Linux and also Mac users. Same logic write once and run in all. The problem, Java was very very slow on Windows. There were none Linux desktop users. We tried to 'educate' some clients on the benefit of free Linux OS, but failed miserably. The clients always had some Win version and wanted out program to run fast and efficiently on 'their' machine.

We abandoned Java. I know how much time I devoted to learn Linux OS and Java then. My machine was dual boot with Win and Linux and tried to keep Linux as my main so that I can develop our program. All this is past, and some how I regret wasting time on Linux. I learned that 'we have to follow our client to survive'.

Now that our clients are using Android phone, they are ready to pay for our applications on it. If Android apps run on Windows, then the same program may scale up the screen size and show more information.

As for Google being evil, our hands are tied. We have to follow our client, and they use MS and Android.

I never got chance to develop for Mac or IOS, though I can not say Apple is nor evil. Even Facebook is turning evil, but we developers can not ignore them.

You can try SuperF4 (free), http://superf4.googlecode.com/.

It is must have app for me. Since I develop programs, many a times they go into infinite loop. Pressing Ctrl+Alt+F4 instantly closes them, even faster that opening task manager and searching and killing it.

I also use it to close FireFox at times when I have lots of tabs opened and one tab causes FF 'not responding'. Killing FF and then restarting it get me all tabs back and then I close the erroneous tab and have other tabs to read.

mouser you are near what I want. http://hyperpolyglot.org/ has the comparison side-by-side.

But it is grouped in similar type of languages but I want any languages side-by-side. Say I know VB and want to convert an VB app in C#. Logic does not depend on any language, just the syntax I need to know when I am stuck. hyperpolyglot is not allowing for VB and C# comparison. That's why I was thinking of making the sheet and having option to hide columns to get two languages side-by-side comparison.

Or may be there is a website as I want in the wilderness.

Got the update mesg window from FARR and updated it.

I have been using FARR since so long (Xp to W8.1) that now it seems like it is inbuilt feature of the OS 

I hardly thing twice before pressing the 'break' key to pop FARR to run any program I need. It has become my habit and I feel handicapped on my friends machine where FARR is not installed. Hey how you run a program ? What ? Start menu !! They look puzzled to me and I can not explain to them.

4wd, I read in Dumster review, maybe, that it has problem in sd card undelete. Anyway since I am just starting with Android not much in sd card now. I have Kitkat 4.4.4. The Lenovo UI is more or less OK for me as of now.

ewemoa, you are right, developing for Android is the reason I got my self the phone , thanks for the f-droid site.

I will try the firewall as suggested, as basically I do not want any app to use my data plan without my knowledge.

I may root my phone eventually, not in a hurry now. Lenevo with update A6000 to Lollipop 5.0, as per their website, but now I am a bit apprehensive. Will wait and watch.

Will be out of station for next couple of days with no internet, will be back by next weekend.

I searched for recycle bin and found that most blog and forums suggested Dumpster

I installed it and deleted one photo from gallery. It showed up in Dumpster and I was able to restore it.
If anyone had used it, please let me know of any problem in using it.

Also I need anti-virus and wifi firwall, need suggestion of apps being used by others.

I liked some of the apps at f-droid, thanks ewemoa, but is it safe to use apps from it ? Any users of it ?

I installed ES F.E. and enabled recycle bin, but it different from what I want. It will only put in bin those files deleted from ESFE and not from, say, photo gallery.

I want system wide recycle bin. Any suggestion ?

Hi eleman, thanks for the call recorder link. Yes hardware incompatibility is what I read at most places. So it is trial and error.

Thanks Ath, Evernote is on my list but it is very big with options I may not require. A smaller simple would be better for startup.

PDF readers suggestions are good. Thanks to Ath, 4wd and ewemoa, I will check them.

4wd, I checked ES File Explorer, but no where in its description or website it is mentioned about recycle feature. Also is root required ? as is mentioned in few reviews.

I got an Android phone, finally. It is Lenovo A6000.

Now I need help guidance as a beginner of Android world. I am using Nokia 5230 now and I have some must need apps installed in it. I looked for their alternatives in Google Play and was overwhelmed. GPlay do not have proper search filter like GMail. So it is best to ask the users directly to get the correct app.

1. Backup and Restore - At least photo, videos and contacts, if not sms and notes etc.
2. Undelete or Recycle option - To restore files deleted by mistake.
3. Call Recorder - Simple, record both in coming and out going, with playback. Need it for client job specifications done on phone.
4. Quick note taking - Simple, may or may not have voice note mode.
5. PDF reader - Small just for reading pdf files.
6. Calender task and reminder on home screen - This I found in Lenovo and looks like may do the job as of now.

If free better else paid one will also do. But they must not be very space and memory hogging. Reading the GPlay reviews and descriptions I bookmarked some but still can not say if they will work as advertised.

So I need the help from all Android users here to guide me to the right stuff. Thanks in advance.

I got an Android phone, finally. More on it and help required in another thread.

I was planning an Android app for the next NANY. It is similar to WhenLast, so Mouser may make it faster from his existing libraries.

When I do some job, say X, I save the date-time for the job, even gps if possible. After wards I should be able to get answers to following,
1. When I did job X ?
2. Did I do job X in this month/year ?
3. What jobs I did this month ?
4. What jobs I did at this location (gps) ?

I hope you got the point. One example I give is that in India ATM withdrawal from same bank is limited to 5 in a month and also from other bank ATM limited to 3. So this will help me to use separate bank ATM cards if I need more withdrawal in a month without paying fees.

I was planning to make a google sheet with rows having the most common code syntax names and columns with different programming languages and column cells filled with the code syntax of that programming language.

Well the above is just for the starting idea.

Now comes the major point :
To have something like this needs programmers with the knowledge of the given language. I can only see DC members has the knowledge and can fulfill it.

How it is going to help :
Programmers trying to learn a new language can have the two languages columns visible (one being the language he/she know) and learn.

I think this will boost learning. It had helped me very much in my earlier days, like C++ for Basic Programmers.

Now it may be that a similar sheet, website with more features, already exist. Or some DC member already has something like it.

It would be better if we could make a website which asks for the two languages and shows the html pages for them only, no filtering / hiding in a sheet. I do not have expertise on it. In fact I will like the sheet to be maintained by our DC website for all programmers of the world.

I need guide and direction on this. Please help.

I think it is high time that we understand that we are 'open source' now.

No matter where you are and what you are doing, you are being watched, and we all know it.

1. Wake up and take a walk, you are watched by the satellite and cctv on street and parks, and obviously monitored by your mobile ISP towers.
2. Visit ATM and withdraw cash, yes your face and time with the amount of money is recorded.
3. Switch on tv for morning news and you are recorded by your cable / disk tv provider the channels you are watching and how long. If you have smart tv, then you hand movement and voice control are also recorded.
4. Go to office and your smart card for train / bus is marked for time and place of your journey.
5. Your office marks you at the gate itself from your id card and the duration you are there.

Till now you haven't started your computer but still all your existences has being recorded.

We have smart devices all around us, which are listening, marking, watching and recording us. They know even more than our parents / spouses.

Just keep the towel on.

Facebook already has this software.

It generates the gift (ad) from our likings, taste, birth date etc., we have provided to it.

So it maintains the database of preference, but keeps it on its server, and creates gifts, but from its sellers. Only sending the gift through drone is due, I think.
