Living Room / swf to gif (or other usable format)
« on: June 01, 2021, 02:46 PM »
Hi all :)

I have a swf file that I need to convert to be usable on a current web page. I can only find flash emulators that open the swf file in a browser and little else (they can't export to animated gif for example(?))
A downloadable software like lightspark does not even install properly or crash (latest version, tried both 32bit and 64bit)

I would think an Adobe product like After Effects would be able to open it and export it to a usable format but even if it does I have no access to Adobe products.

Any ideas?

If I don't manually add anything the GoTo menus does nothing, clicking it there is nothing. This of course after navigating through various folders and clicking on GoTo everytime.

28
No change.

When I manually add a folder it is remembered and I can use the GoTo to choose that folder.

This also relates to DoogiePIM in the sense that an Android version was to come but was pushed back in favour of more focus on the local program....imo not coincidentally development has slowed somewhat

The general concept of allowing third parties access to accounts is asking for trouble. To my knowledge the only place I have done this is a couple of things on twitter and a couple of things to save backups to dropbox, the latter I only did after years of resisting.

36
These would indicate that it is legit, at least low chance of non-legit

Somewhat on topic:
of course it is not possible to compare browsers with audio/video players but using PotPlayer I paste the youtube url and it barely nudges the cpu, ram, disk usage. In FF (btw with only 1 addon) it keeps eating all of them. I have tried tweaks and config settings for years, not just recently, it is a losing battle, it is crazy what browsers have become. Chrome seems to behave a bit better but it is not vast improvement. Again this is not one version or one cheap computer, etc.

If you are willing to go with a host and not strictly an email provider then hawkhost has prices of $1.35 per month as black friday promotion, very good support and for sure not a spam hoster.

Depending on scope I can help, if he is interested in sharing details to which I will reply 'I can' or 'sorry can not'.

Maintaining records is one thing, actively needing them is another.
For maintaining records you could download Yahoo email and have them stored in a searchable database using something like Mailstore Home.

I have done something for a while and I think app mentioned it here recently too. Obviously not exactly what you are looking for but comes closer than you might think. A local WordPress installation.

WNS is windows notification service, not being able to go to it via browser, whether directly, archived or otherwise, doesn't necessarily make it malicious.

FWIW DoogiePIM has 'Noteboard' which is close to OneNote, however there is no OneNote sync or mobile version

Living Room / Re: Hotmail hates non-Hotmail: is there a cure?
« on: September 23, 2019, 08:49 PM »
I have had yahoo's own messages - I mean their own announcements not other yahoo user emails! - go to my yahoo spam. A (very) few times same has happened with gmail and hotmail. Email is never 100%, will never be, even with the best up to date and secure settings. Another a bit common example of this is when services miss obvious spam and it lands in your inbox or kind of opposite when twitter notifications land in spam for example. I would NOT recommend trying to fix server settings unless the recipeints are comfortable or are not inconvenienced dealing with the next time it fails. Slack groups and such are far better communication method.
