476  DonationCoder.com Software / Circle Dock / Re: a problem help..... on: January 03, 2010, 03:12:12 PM
my extra vision is 0.92alpha8.2 ,i want to updata to 1.0 but i don't want to set my files again.
so can i just modify the file 'DockItemData and Config' to achieve the goal ? and how?
thanks!

Eeek...I should know this answer, but unfortunately with all the testing I have done over the last couple of months...I am unsure.  embarassed

So I suggest the following:
Make  Back up of Circle Dock....The entire file.
Just copy and paste it some where safe.

Check all AppData folders and see if there is any Circle Dock folders there, If so make a copy of these as well.
The AppData folder is located in the User File
ie:
C:\Users\[User Name Here]\AppData

Once this is done, and you know you can restore your original files.
Download and The latest release and install to your current Circle Dock Directory.

Now since I am unsure of how this will work...I would really appreciate it if you would be willing to try and tell us how the install goes.

I will venture to say that it should work.

My apologies for not having a direct yes or no answer here...If it does not work
Then all you have to do is delete the files in place and restore your back up files to the appropriate areas.

i am a foreigner,so please excuse my english

i opened this option:when my mouse near the side the circle shows up or hide, when i play the game warcraft with full screem,in the game when my house was near the side, the circle shows......and to the desktop....and the game.......
so...help me..

Greetings. Welcome to Donationcoder.com and Circle Docks little corner of it  Grin

I will be upfront and tell you that this has also been a past issue as well, and There are only a couple of things you can do to help avoid this situation.

First, go to Dock settings and then the "visibility tab". Under "Show Dock", make sure that non pf the check boxes on the left are marked (No check marks). This will keep Circle Dock showing when your mouse floats towards the edge of the screen.

You may also try this:
In the Settings, Click the "General Tab", and then Look under "Location".
Here you will find Dock Location "Z-Level".
In the drop down box is three options.
Topmost
Normal
Always on Bottom.

I keep mine at Normal, but you may wish to have your as "Always on Bottom"
The Good and bad of this choices is:
Circle Dock will never appear over any other application (Including games)
You will need to have a view of your desk top to see Circle Dock to Launch files and programs.

This is the easy fix...Let me know if this meets your needs...If not let me know and we will move on to a couple of other settings.

Okay Guys

I (am sure) I have finally worked out why Circle Dock wouldn't work on 64-bit Windows 7: the DLL was marked as "Hidden, System". Simple as that - I think! Though why this is only a problem on 64-bit Windows 7, I'm not even going to hazard a guess.

I've uploaded a "Refresh" (v1.0.2.2) which clears that problem (the DLL is no longer marked "Hidden, System") and the two other issues reported thus far.

Thanks Rigel and Sarge for your assistance!

Mark

Apologies for the excessive time away
You realize this would make no sense, as teh new file was never hidden (???)

I am finding a load of bugs, but these may well be worked out with time.

instead of document the errors to death...I will make flash with what I am finding so far, so you can see what is causinh what.

Bug # ????

Attempt to rightclick and adjust "Item Settings" and I get the following:

481  DonationCoder.com Software / Circle Dock / \o/ on: January 01, 2010, 03:52:54 PM
Ok....

Upon re-starting system...I can now drag and drop folders and icons to CD, and not get the error list before.

It is working smoother and is apparently doing what it is supposed too.

Now all we need do is iron out the Program Files (x86) issue and why this is happening.
With my previous Rainmeter experience I am going to guess it is a UAC thing.

I need to run to the pharamacy and get some pain killers for my knee and I shall return shortly.
482  DonationCoder.com Software / Circle Dock / WTF ????? on: January 01, 2010, 03:29:45 PM
Ok I am working some what on the updated DLL earlier submitted.

Placed CD in an alternative program file.
If is somewhat working.
Attempted to place an icon and got the following, but other than this it appears working at the moment.

I have placed CD in teh following directory:
C:\Alternative Program File\Circle Dock

Image of error:

I can verify that the dock is working for the most oart.
CD will not run from the Program Filkes (x86) with or without Admin Privileges.
There seems to be some tell tale Opacity bugs so far, and teh aforementioned error, but over all working at this time...
I will re-start system and see if operation continues
483  DonationCoder.com Software / Circle Dock / Re: Version 1.0 is now released and available for download on: January 01, 2010, 03:13:36 PM
For myself: Neither

I am going to try an alternative install directory
For giggles: something outside of the UAC
I think I tried this before, but could not hurt to try again to be sure
484  DonationCoder.com Software / Circle Dock / Re: Version 1.0 is now released and available for download on: January 01, 2010, 01:58:13 PM
Rigel proposed something quick and interesting.

So I did a quick test of removing the DLL and then placing it back
If I had to take a guess...I would say Rigel is correct in that the CD can not see or find the DLL (???)

Results as follows:

486  DonationCoder.com Software / Circle Dock / Re: Version 1.0 is now released and available for download on: January 01, 2010, 01:33:15 PM
We ran into a similar issue in Rainmeter...Ultimately the 64 bit version needed to be compiled as a 64bit to get it to work in Windows 7.....The x86 did work fine in Vista.

My guess...is Windows attempt to force x64 by Windows 8 by having true x64 compiling for the Windows 7.

I have just again verified that CD is in Program files (x86)  undecided

Unfortunately I have moved all my OS's to Windows 7 x64, 2008 x64, and Ubuntu...So I am unable to test in other enviro's at this time.

Let me see if I can get the Virtual XP going....Damn swore I would never use it  embarassed
Will have to rig my system, but it is a simple hack

May need to consider a 32bit and 64 bit version od CD  tellme
487  DonationCoder.com Software / Circle Dock / Re: Version 1.0 is now released and available for download on: January 01, 2010, 12:40:38 PM
I just used ResHacker to take a peek into the DLL you sent along.

Because it opened...I have to ask.
Are compiling in 32 or 64 bit.
This makes a huge difference in Windows 7
Normally ResHacker will not properly open 64 bit DLL's

The following is from the Config.ini:

also, and this may mean no difference at all/

I noticed that the error keeps referencing the DLL as 1.0.0.1
and the current version just sent is Version 1.0.2.2
????

Maybe I am just stabbing in the dark here  tongue

Patience my young Padawan.
Mark is working on it diligently, and we are coming along with testing.

Once we iron out a couple of issue.
We will get it to the world.

Greetings Archon of Fate to Donationcoder and Circle Dock's little corner

Actually this is a common problem of the old Alpha release, and has been documented.
The only "fix" that I have found is to click away so that the dock will disappear and when it returns it will be as it should...I know this is  not what you wish to hear, but what we got at this time Sad

On teh upside...I have not experienced this problem with the latest versions

Standby...we are looking into a plausible issue that may or may not regard this situation
Let you know soon

I received the following response from an individual at Aqua Soft:

Just download the ObjectDock docklet SDK from StarDock and implement their interfaces.
They are pretty straightforward.
That's the way it worked in both AveDesk and RocketDock, if I remember correctly.

Since you are going to host C/C++ libraries in .Net, you'll need to catch up reading
lots of InterOp (No COM/ActiveX involved, just plain LoadLibrary/GetProcAddress stuff
in the Win32 SDK), and forget about going 64-bits. Perhaps a mixed C++/C# assembly will do.

good luck,

herd

498  Other Software / Developer's Corner / CircleDock needs help....Calling on the DC Brain Trust on: December 11, 2009, 03:09:40 PM
I am at my wits end  Sad

I started this search long before Markham and his magical touch showed up to forward CircleDock development.
With Markham now as the programmer...I have been tasked once again with finding code, or code examples, that will allow CircleDock to use Docklets.

I have been hard pounding the internet tarmac for a couple of months and have been directed to dead ends.
So I come to the folks that understand programming, as I am no programmer.

We do not require information on building Docklets (There are thousands of sites for this), we are looking to integrate code that will allow CircleDock to use Docklets.

My dream would be that CircleDock can use all of the common Launcher Docklets (ie. ObjectDock, RocketDock, RK Launcher, XW Dock, etc), But we need to start with the common Docklets first....The ones that can be used commonly be ObjectDock and CircleDock

Any Ideas, help in the right direction, and/or code would be greatly appreciated.

499  DonationCoder.com Software / Circle Dock / Re: Circle Dock: The Past, The Present and The Future on: December 11, 2009, 02:34:09 PM
I am so frustrated I want to spit.

I pride myself on being able to find almost anything, or come up with about anything, on almost everything.
But base coding for Docklets adaption has proven incredibly elusive.

I have been dancing with programmers for a couple or more months now, and have come up empty handed, with great sorrow and disappointment.

I keep getting referred to a BaduKing (apparently a programming legend when it comes to multiple docklet integration), but apparently no one has heard from him in two years or better.

I have 2 remaining contacts to make:
I will approach StarDock (I am fairly certain where that will go)
I will approach the folks at RocketDock again (I fear that I may over extend teh kindness that they have extended to me)

@ Mouser:
I may be putting up a general call on the forum, and see if the DonationCoder brain trust may be able to direct me in a new direction.

@Markham:
I am sorry that I have been un-able to produce anything.....yet!!!  Angry

I am so disappointed in myself and my apparent in-ability to deliver at this time
