Greetings mukyduck  Grin
Welcome to donationcoder.com and Circle Dock's little corner of it  Cool

You are absolutely correct: The animated Icon requires standard Docklet to operate.
Unfortunately at this time Circle Dock does not support the standard Docklets that are available.

Markham is working on it, but from scratch as we have not been able to acquire a template to work from/with.

But Markham is working on it for a future release.

we will keep folks posted through these forums as advancements are made
477  DonationCoder.com Software / Circle Dock / Re: Problems with shortcuts to system files on: January 13, 2010, 08:50:25 AM
I love and utilize Gimp..In fact the center Image is a modification of someone else's work...But it has been so long I could not tell you who did it...

You are welcome to it and you can download it here:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1016357/Images/Windows-5.png

As for the list of Icons I have..It is a collection of well over 2.5 gigs worth and collected over the last several years.

Most of the icons come from RocketDock Page...which can be found through the Circle Dock Help File...look in addons
Or here:
http://rocketdock.com/addons/all/popular

I also look into Deviantart, I also do a general Google search for Vector Icons, and use CoolIris in FireFox to cut through hours of searching  Wink

Updates:
Before I go into a long explanation...I will say that Markham is a new programmer of Circle Dock, and no time scale has been determined at this time...Understand that up until October Circle Dock was a dead project in Alpha testing, and went Full release in less than 30 days.
So when will this capability to available...I can not say...a lot of re-tooling of core software and home work will need to be done to add the docklets capability...and as no one has come forward to assist in this integration...Matkham has to start from scratch.

So I can not give you a time frame to having the necessary integration for the Recycle Bin and others

I am glad that the fix for teh Computer folder work...and I also hope you are having fun...
Watch us close as apparently Markham (Our beloved Circle Dock wizard  Kiss ) seems to have some big plans
We shall all see in time  thumbs up thumbs up thumbs up thumbs up Thmbsup

Actually after much consideration...The option did just as it was supposed to.

None of my other stacks were deleted, just the quick Launch...but this is a windows virtual folder any ways and in windows 7 may not be seen as a link.

The option also deleted all of my Winamp controls, but these are Program linked arguments and not true links.....

I have no complaint as the option, when turned on did exactly what it was supposed to do  Thmbsup

Any thing that is not seen as a true folder, or program link is deleted.

It coul dbe that since CD loaded first that the rest was un-see-able at the time, and CD summarily killed those links.
It could also be that Winamp was not immediately on at time of boot, so CD, being a smart program now, could not make the relation and killed those shortcuts as well.

On the other hand...It did not kill any of my NirCmd links...so I am unsure....All I know Is that I have confiirmed this three time so far, and turning off this function corrected the issue.

Maybe an item setting that allows the delete function to be exempt if checked???

Greetings geekoo   cheesy

Welcome to DonationCoder.com and Circle Dock's little corner

Normally I would say that this is the UAC interfering with Circle Dock, but I am at a loss (Currently) as to why it is having ini file issues.......
This is currently throwing me off.....let me see if I can even replicate this issue and get back to you

You may try and run circle Dock with Administrative Privileges, and see what happens
480  DonationCoder.com Software / Circle Dock / Re: Problems with shortcuts to system files on: January 12, 2010, 04:27:30 PM
Greetings Stefan 93  cheesy
Welcome to Circle Dock and DonationCoder forums

We are aware of the current limitations of the Recycle Bin.
For this and other option, Markham is looking into programing the ability to add docklets.
There are numerous docklets that handle the Recycle Bin, and other system utilities/folders, that are easier to work with than programing in the proper handlers.
But ultimately Markham will have the final word on this as an option.
So for the moment we are left with a simple folder link.

To get the Computer files to show instead of the Library, you will need to add an argument in the Item Settings:

Name the new folder to any name you wish:

As in the image make sure the Target is listed:
C:\Windows\explorer.exe

Now for the important part....The argument:
/E,::{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}

This argument will target the appropriate windows virtual folder that list the drives instead of teh Libraries which are now default in Windows 7.
By all means copy and paste the info to make it easy  Cool

Click the finish button.

Then click the new icon/button, and the desired result should be obtained:

If for some reason this fails...let me know and I can do a tut for creating a shortcut to teh desktop and then adding it to Circle Dock  Wink

As for Dock skins...That is a bit more difficult as Circle Dock is slowly coming into it's own and there are few circle Skins...Most that are available come with Circle Dock.
Fret not though as I am always looking for new Back Grounds,.
I will start making a few that will blend better with Vista and 7....If I can get my head around Cs4  embarassed

Center images are easy, if you are not looking for a back ground center...The typical center image is just another Icon...In PNG preferable

Let me know if I have help or completely missed the point???

Have fun  Thmbsup

Welcome to Circle Dock and DonationCoder.com

What exactly are you attempting to link to???

Now granted I have My Circle Dock loaded to and alternative file in C HDD (C:/Alternative Program Files)
But as you can see I can make a direct link to an external HDD Registration exe file

I get the image Icon and everything automatically as I should

I will do some testing today in a portable mode Flash drive and see if I can simulate your issue, and I will try it from a different partition as well.

But under my current configuration...I can not duplicate the issue

let me see if I can do that

Welcome to Circle Dock and DonationCoder.com forums

For teh Zip request:
There is only the installer version, but this can be installed to any drive or folder and made portable (If wanted at that time)

I see what you are saying in regards to the set up.
By default Circle Dock follows the cursor unles the Lock to position setting is marked, then the dock will still appear and disappear to that locked position.

When the position is locked and you then middle click,,,the cursor jumps to Circle Dock when made visible.
This is intentional by design.

Is there a solution other than that presented that you would wish to happen???

487  DonationCoder.com Software / CircleDock Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials / Quick Launch ~~XP to Windows 7 with CD and Stacks (Tips & Tricks) Update 01/11 on: January 10, 2010, 12:17:21 PM
Greetings folks

I am going to start a series of Tips and Tricks For Circle Dock.
Although some of these may seem natural, many (like myself) just do not know until it is pointed out.
So I am going to start with something simple.

Quick Launch Menu In Circle Dock:

Purpose:
This is an adaption of an article from How To Geek "Add the Quick Launch Bar to the Taskbar in Windows 7" So Windows 7 users will be especially interested in this Trick as Quick Launch was removed in the Windows 7 OS.

Note for Windows 7 users:
The Quick Launch folder still exists...so all those install programs that ask if you want  a shortcut in your Quick Launch still apply, just you will never know it is there.

Users of Windows XP and Vista will be happy as this Trick will clear up some space on the task bar and essentially move the Quick Launch Option to Circle Dock Via the Stacks Addon Option.

How To:
I am lazy by nature so I look for the simplest solution possible.
I could easily have you open a new Stack folder, then bring up the Stack options and then navigate through the AppData folder (If you can find it) and link to the Quick Launch folder, but this is too much trouble  tongue

So a few simple step by step.
You are going to need to copy the following address string:
Quote
%appdata%\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch

Bring up a Window.
In My Case I just click on My Computer

Paste the above code in to your address bar in the window and hit ENTER:

Once you hit enter 2 things of importance should happen:
  • 1.) The Quick Launch Folder Should be Shown in the Window
  • 2.) A full address to the folder location should be highlighted in the window address bar.
Right Click in the address bar and copy the entire address shown there

In my case I get:
C:\Users\User Name\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch
The above address can be utilized directly in Vista and 7, but I believe that address to be a bit different in XP.
If you wish to utilize the address above...Make sure you re-place the User Name appropriately!

Now over to Circle Dock:
Create a Stack folder by Right clicking and Choosing ADD > Folder Stack

This should bring up the following Properties window:

Go ahead and Change the "Name" to "Quick Launch"
And then Click Finish.

Circle Dock will Now Show a default folder Stack Icon.

Now we need to change the Stack Settings and add the last Saved Folder address.
to do this: Hold down Control and left Click the new Quick Launch Stack Icon (ctrl+click)

Now in the "Folder" Location right click and paste in the previously copied folder address.
Then chose which "Mode" you prefer....I have chosen "Grid"

Then Click "OK"

and viola
You now have a stack menu of your Quick Launch, that will automatically update shortcuts as they are added and removed from the Quick Launch Folder  Thmbsup

UPDATE 01/11/2010

Absolutely ensure that you do have the The "Silently Delete Broken Links" Option turned OFF!!!

Or I guarantee the next time you start Circle Dock you are going to be PO'ed, as it will wipe out this Stack!

I apologize to XP users as I have abandoned XP, Vista and all 32 bit OS.
So someone with XP may have to make an additional post to correct any discrepancies in address and so forth.

It is my hope that others will come forward with their tips and tricks and add them to these forums as well.

Circle Dock is infinitely capable of so much, and our beloved Markham is kicking himself to make it better all the time.

In my Next few Tips and Tricks posts I will be doing the following:

NirCmd as a third party Addon...I am going to make Windows dance!
CLamp as a third party Addon for controlling Winamp (You are going to dig this  Thmbsup )
AutoIt as a third party Addon for scripting stuff
How to add God Mode and the Various God Modes to break down that huge god awful master list (Not as integrated as I would like)
and more as I find them

Know that Markham is working on the inclusion of Traditional dicklets to Circle dock, but this is requiring some serious coding and will take a while, so hopefully these addons will help satiate the tweaker's needs, and open up additional concepts for all of us Cool

Do you have a tip or trick with Circle dock???
if so: Please tell us all about it in a new post...we will all want to hear it.  Wink

Markham

The first thing that stuck out at me in this is:
  Exception Code:   c0000005

This can be caused by so much, I am not going to start a list here.
Bottom line is an access error or conflict.

I am unsure of Minidump in this instance.
Is the minidump created by a program at call
or by windows????

The information would be invaluable.
Rainmeter can develop its own minidump crash reports upon ini code line institution/request.

Hopefully the rest of the error code means mre to you than me  embarassed
490  DonationCoder.com Software / Circle Dock / Re: Circle Dock don't work on windows 7? on: January 07, 2010, 05:52:32 PM
Try the following

I have created a folder for other programs in my C:/
In this case:
C:\Alternative Program File

Occasionally I have self contained (Portable) programs, and installing them to Program Files is a pain.
So I created a new program file.
This is where I installed Circle Dock

This provides 2 things
Easy access
Outside of the UAC programs monitoring.

So

Create a folder for Alternative Programs
Install circle dock there
and I bet it will work just fine

Not Standard protocol to be sure, but definitely workable..
I have also found that if you decide to make portable versions or zips of Circle Dock....Doing teh alternative file install expedites this and makes it easier to work with as you are avoiding the UAC mess.

If you need further assistance, let us know  smiley

Below is an image of Circle Dock Version 1.0.2.3 working in Windows 7 (64bit)

I moved it over to Chris' area, as he is the developer for Standalone stack 2, but being that Mr. Moreno is also teh Library developer...I left a forwarding link.

I will have the Third option added by Noon My time tomorrow.....Currently 2348 (-7 GMT)
492  DonationCoder.com Software / Circle Dock / Re: Core Software Suggestion on: January 07, 2010, 12:45:30 AM
Damn...When do you sleep my friend

Recycle Bin and other such items can then wait for the Docklet abilities
As I thought....
I have got to nail down this RaduKing  Ikeep getting forwarded to...

You are absolutely correct there are options in XP that are not in Vista, and an Option in 7 that is not in the other 2
As for Icons...LOL
As requested:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1016357/Circle%20Dock/Forum/Vistaswitch.zip
I will pick up the rest with NirCmd

As I was typing I was also testing, and I found that shortcuts of the Libraries can be created, Drag and dropped to CD...So this becomes a non-issue

I think I will do up a forum post as a third party add on for NirCmd.
This hould help fill in some whole for folks that are looking for individual things...That should not concern CD as a whole
You may get a kick out this  Wink
493  DonationCoder.com Software / Circle Dock / Core Software Suggestion on: January 06, 2010, 07:32:37 PM
I have been going over all the advancements of CD, and I am speechless.

Mark
I must say I am humbled by the extraordinary changes I am seeing.
For showing how unlimited and simple this program can be
Thank you so much

I am can not imagine all you have done and gone through to get CD where it is now in less than 6 months

So Makham-Sempai
On to the next level if you are so inclined (???)

This list is excellent, and truly expands on CD's capabilities.

I am going to make the following suggestions to add to this list, or capabilities that should be looked into for some of these options:

The Recycle Bin
This currently shows Just the Icon of and "Empty Bin"
Would it be possible to add the ability to show when the The Recycling Bin is "Full"???
Typically this requires 2 different Icons
Of course there is also teh custom Icon situation to consider as well.
May need to wait till we can add addons to obtain this functionality (???)
There are OD and RD add ons that do this, but am unaware if an addon is required.

More Power Options
Currently The following is listed:
Log Off
Restart Computer

Can we add to this list?
Sleep
Hibernate
Switch User
Power off monitor
Standby
Lock Down

Now I can utilize NirCmd as a third party addon and do most of the above requested.
Is NirCmd a better option for this???
Or is integration from the "special" menu Possible?

Libraries
A lot is not known or understood about these, and they are only applicable to Windows 7
Is there a way to add these???
I am currently looking for a shortcut solution, and this may satisfy this request...SO I shall keep you posted.

Apparently Shortcuts can be made to desktop and then D&D'ed to CD

NirCmd as a third party Solution/Add On (Your Thoughts?)
I have been toying with the concept of adding a forum post of NirCmd as a Third party add on.
This can be utilized to fill in gaps, that CD should not be concerned about directly.
Things such as:
CD Drawer Open close
Command line strings (By user desire)
Volume Up and Down
And so much little petty things that should not be included to the core software.
It is small, portable (by choice) and non-volatile (as long as it is not installed to the windows directory)
And not to mention how easy it would be for the average user to create small end commands  Thmbsup
There are some draw back...But I can better explain in a full post.
If it flies...I would add to the wikidot site as well
I am already using it  tongue

More to come...I am sure

As you need anything, you let me know and I will track it down...Ifit is in my ability to do so!!!

Thank you both for your timely response and your solutions to the matter.  You explained well for being on pain killers smiley Anywho I discovered the options when I tried to run the standalone stack by itself with the "Run" command and it gave me those options (This was a fluke on my part).  Second, thanks for clearing the name issue up, I believe that is what was messing me up in the beginning.  As of now though, I decided also to use the Standalone Stack 2.0.7 for now and add the application to CD so if I need to edit the options I can just open the program.

Great...I would also appreciate to hear how well stack 2 works...if you could do a little review for us...That would be great.

Also I will point out the following limitations that Markham ran into while going over the Stacks 2

497  DonationCoder.com Software / Circle Dock / Re: How To on: January 06, 2010, 03:12:00 PM
I am an idiot  Grin

I have this one some what ironed out

To bring up the stac menu

Simply place Pointer over Stack folder icon, and hold CTRL button down while you click the stack. (Control + Left Mouse Click)
This will bring up the initial menu so that you can do some changes to the stack options.

Now also understand that Mark is correct in as much that the ini files remain.
So after install, you can safely go back and delete any file that says "Circle Dock" with no damage to the file

That being said.
There is something else.
EACH STACK IS IDENTIFIED BY STACK NAME!!!
The default stack name is "Change me now"
If you do not rename this file, any thing you place to this stack name/file will be remembered under the title of "Change me now"
So you will want to change the Stack File Name before you create a link to the file that you are targeting, or have set up with Launch short cuts.

If you do not do this, every time you create a new stack...it will appear as though it is using the previous stack.
Again, this can be modified by ctrl+L Click on the stack folder to bring up the Stack options window.

If you seem to get stuck with the same stack build, simply right click the folder, bring up Item Settings and change the Name.
Once the stack name is changed, click the stack folder again and you will be presented with a fresh stacks properties to work with.

Any questions let me know...and I will try to be less confusing when the pain killers ware off  huh

I have dropped a direct e-mail to ChristianS (Chris) and let Mr. Moreno know as well.

Apparently mr. Moreno is still compilling the Libraries in 32 bit, so this is creating issues with Windows 7.
Just a quick glimpse through the Aqua Soft Stack and Standalone stack posts makes me cringe a bit.

Either way the requests are out, and the post was moved to Chris at Aqua Soft forums

I will re-direct Chris and Mr. Moreno a direct e-mail shortly.

Also Have made some massive changes to the wikidot yesterday.
If you get an opportunity...Could I bug you to go over the change log at the wikidot site and see if I missed an major do-hickeys???
Also double check and see if I have missed anything.....There will be more changes when I get some current images, and do some more refining to the wikidot.
I am working on a CSS customization now, but could take some time.
