Circle Dock / Re: Change of Licensing from Version 2 (Cancelled)
« on: August 03, 2010, 11:34 PM »
Jimminy Christmas!!!

I really do not want to be an enemy of fun here.
As much as I love being an A$$Hole, this is not one of them  :-[
I love all the folks that use and help support Circle Dock.
Please realize that many limits are being hit based on the software that is currently being used, and certain software products must be obtained in order to develop towards some of the requests that have been, and are being, made.
Want to advance Circle Dock, but apparently have hit various financial limits.
Many here at DC and Circle Dock Donations have been great and open, many donating more than they can afford. I know, I am one of these.
Know that Markham and I are not absolutely happy with moving in this direction, but we are feeling very limited by the current choices at present.
I have done some serious research into Eric's license, as I was asked if I can justify what we are doing, and do so in clear conscience.
The immediate answer is no.  :-[ ,But what alternatives exist?
That being said; I see no reason that we would not consider alternatives or modifications to what Markham has already outlined.
At this time, as far as I know, nothing is absolutely carved in stone, so Options and suggestions are advised, over criticism.
We can not ask more than the DC Community already gives, and we now all know what the problems are.
Solutions are what are needed, thoughtful and forward moving, not Complaints. I do not say this angrily at all  :-[
I understand you positions. But costs need to met and in the immediate future

Please observe the following quotes from Eric's License.

You may charge any price or no price for each copy that you convey, and you may offer support or warranty protection for a fee.

This is not derivative taken out of context, but a complete paragraph.
I have not modified this in any way. I am too lazy.
But I request that you research the license again, before jumping towards incorrect conclusions, again no insult is meant by this statement.  :-[

I am of two minds in this.
1) Protecting VIP's Legacy
2) allowing Markham to protect his intellectual rights and be able to afford teh necessary software to expand on Circle Dock's capabilities.

I do not at all wish to alienate any users, but if any one has a better solution, or licensing concept.
We will listen.

My immediate thinking would be allowing a limit on computers installed over an install limit on a single system.

Greetings audit2
Good to have you here with us at Donationcoder and Circle Docks little part
My apologies for the late response

I presume that you are using Circle Dock in a static, or fixed, location.
That being the case, you will need to activate legacy mode

So let's do this thing  ;)

Right click on Circle Dock and go to Dock Settings; Click it and wait for the settings to come up.
In the Settings window go to General> Location.
In the Lower left hand side is a check box for the legacy operations.
Check the following Box; OR: Version 0.9 Bahaviour  (See "Help")

Screenshot - 8_2_2010 , 9_13_03 PM.png

I am fairly certain thsi will do the trick.
If not let us know and we will get it ironed out for you

Greetings fred dred
Glad to have you here with us at Circle Dock and Donationcoder  :-*

apologies that it is not under better circumstances.  :-[

We have not been ignoring this issue, we are actually looking into it.

Markham is out until Monday, or he is supposed to be, but he has this annoying "take my laptop everywhere habit"  :P
So we may have an answer quicker.

We will get you through, apologies for the troubles

this may not be possible since Radian and Circle Dock use different approaches: Each of Radian's pie-slices is a Window containing six buttons whereas each of Circle Dock's Dock Items is an individual window.

You are absolutely correct and I do keep forgetting these details  :-[

No need to feel stupid friend.

Greetings ArchaicTimeFrog  ;D

I thank you for stopping by and documenting your thoughts.
Never Winter Nights is one of my all time favorite RPG games for the computer.

Since I am certain that Markham has no idea what we are talking about. I will have to grab some video capture of the NWN Navigator for him.
This may add for an excellent concept for Circle Dock.
I wish I had thought of the navigator in NWN some time ago, as this may be the answer to a concept I have been trying to put together for months  8)

Greetings Spiraea

Glad to have you with us at Circle Dock and Donationcoder forums at large.
I am going to have Markham, Circle Dock's current programmer, look into this and render and answer.

Standby a bit as Markham is in the Philippines and it is Currently 0750 his time, so he may not even be out of bed yet  :tellme:

Circle Dock / Files, Folders and Shortcuts (Tutorial)
« on: July 27, 2010, 06:01 PM »
This is very late, but I have time at the moment, so I will try to be quick and clear.

The object requested here is in concerns to the Audio Folder, Links, and Graphics that I utilized.
Assuming I understand the question correctly.
If not, let me know and I will pick up from here, and do another one until I get it right for you ;)

Ok, so we want the following:

So we get this:

Believe it or not, this is simply a folder with a custom Icon, and label.  8)
So to reproduce this;
1.) Right click on Circle Dock and bring up the Context Menu

Screenshot - 7_27_2010 , 2_51_00 PM.jpg

2.) Go to Add > Dock Folder

Screenshot - 7_27_2010 , 2_53_10 PM.jpg

Click on Dock Folder

3.) Wait for the Item Settings dialog

Screenshot - 7_27_2010 , 2_58_57 PM.jpg
In the area marked #1 in the image above is where we want to give the new folder a name. I will simply Call Mine "Audio & Video"
You are welcome to name your folder in whatever you like

4.) Once we have named our new folder, Click Finish (Area #2 Below):

Screenshot - 7_27_2010 , 2_59_52 PM.jpg

5.) Now lets give our new folder a custom identifiable Icon
Right Click on your new Folder and click on Change Icon

Screenshot - 7_27_2010 , 3_05_23 PM.jpg

6.) This will bring up a window so that you can search for the location of your custom Icon  ;)

Screenshot - 7_27_2010 , 3_10_01 PM.jpg

Once you find the Icon you want, select it, and then click on Open

Now we have a new folder with our Custom Icon

Screenshot - 7_27_2010 , 3_11_05 PM.jpg

BUT WAIT; There is more.

Now that we have our new custom folder, we need to populate the folder with Audio and Video programs to Launch

So lets start by Double Click our new Folder and we will find that we have a blank Circle Folder to start with  ;)

Screenshot - 7_27_2010 , 3_25_16 PM.jpg

Now lets add some Shortcuts to Audio and Visual Programs

Circle Dock is great for launching any program. Locate in the The Start Menu or Isolate; Such as Portable applications, and those that do not appear in the Windows Start Menu.

First lets start with creating Shortcuts for Start Menu Programs

At this time I am going to add Hulu Desktop, VLC and Winamp to my new Audio & Video Folder

So to this, go to the Start menu > All Programs, and find the First Program that you want in this new folder.
I will start with Hulu Desktop.

So
1.) Go to Start > All Programs and scroll through the list till you find your Program(s)

Screenshot - 7_27_2010 , 3_37_48 PM.jpg

2.) Simply Hold down the left Click button on your mouse and then drag and drop the Program shortcut to Circle Dock

Screenshot - 7_27_2010 , 3_40_50 PM.jpg

3.) Once you have Dragged and Dropped the shortcut to Circle Dock, you will get an Item Properties Window for the new Shortcut.

Screenshot - 7_27_2010 , 3_43_23 PM.jpg

Check the Name of the shortcut, and make any changes you desire. Then click Finish

NOTE:
If you get a Window that asks if you want to delete the old Icon, select NO!!!

Now we have our new application Launch Shortcut ready to go.

Screenshot - 7_27_2010 , 3_45_46 PM.jpg

Now follow Direction 1 through 3 above to add additional Shortcuts to this Circle Dock folder

I will add a couple of more and we will continue  8)

Ok, Here is where I am at:

Screenshot - 7_27_2010 , 4_07_19 PM.jpg

BUT; I want to add a program that is Portable, or at least I keep portable. This program does not appear in the Windows start menu so I need to follow a different method to get the Shortcut I need  8)

For me I will go to the Start Menu > Computer and then navigate to the folder that has my program. In this case I want Zoom Player

Screenshot - 7_27_2010 , 4_16_16 PM.jpg

Screenshot - 7_27_2010 , 4_17_47 PM.jpg

Now all I do is Drag and Drop Zplayer.exe to Circle Dock.
This will bring up the Item Properties Window.
Since I do not want Zplayer to appear as the name of this shortcut, I must Change the name to Zoom Player  ;)

Screenshot - 7_27_2010 , 4_18_52 PM.jpg

As above in the previous examples; Once you have changed the name, and made the adjustments you want, click Finish

Now we have some Shortcuts with seriously ugly Icons  :P

Screenshot - 7_27_2010 , 4_24_28 PM.jpg

So lets change these, but do them all at once instead of separately

Changing Icons using the Icon Replacement Mode:

1.) Right Click on Circle Dock and bring up the Context menu and then go to Icon Replacement Mode

Screenshot - 7_27_2010 , 4_26_14 PM.jpg

2.) This will bring up a Window for you to search out your Custom Icons. I keep all of mine a singular file, so that I know where to find them.

Screenshot - 7_27_2010 , 4_30_55 PM.jpg

3.) Simply Hold Down the left Click Button and  Drag and Drop the Custom Icon over the existing Icon.
The current Icon will be replaced with the new/Custom Icon

Screenshot - 7_27_2010 , 4_33_28 PM.jpg

4.) Now go ahead and Repeat steps 1 through 3 to add custom icons to the rest of your shortcuts.
Selecting custom Icons of your choosing as you go ;)

Visuals  :D
Screenshot - 7_27_2010 , 4_36_07 PM.jpg

Screenshot - 7_27_2010 , 4_37_03 PM_ver001.jpg

Screenshot - 7_27_2010 , 4_37_56 PM.jpg

5.) once you are finished and satisfied with the Icons that you have for your shortcuts. Close the Window that was brought up when the Icon Replacement Mode was started

6.) Now Right Click on Circle Dock and bring up the Context Menu.
Make sure that you TURN OFF Icon Replacement Mode
Otherwise I guarantee that you will be having a fit when you go to add a new Shortcut, folder, or file  :tellme:

Screenshot - 7_27_2010 , 4_40_31 PM.jpg

And there we have it. A freshly created Folder with Freshly created Shortcuts, and we have added Custom Icons that can be readily Identified ;)

Screenshot - 7_27_2010 , 4_46_14 PM.jpg

Some Notes.
Even at this level you can add another folder. Circle Dock can go as many sub-folders as you require!

Most of my Icons come from 3 places
1.) Google Search
2.) Rocket Dock
3.) DeviantART
Or I just make the blasted things myself. More often than not using a free graphical program "Gimp"

Hopefully this is what you were asking about and I have fulfilled your needs in the tutorial. If not let me know soon, and I can do another tomorrow. I think I will be free  :-[

My deepest apologies for how long it has taken me to get this to all of you

Regards
The Sarge

Welcome to Donationcoder.com and Circle Docks little part

Apologies I missed you in the IRC

A couple of things to check here:

Make Sure that you have not checked the option in the Context Menu

Screenshot - 7_22_2010 , 11_35_55 AM.png

If that is unchecked, then checking your settings to ensure that Circle Dock'd Z-Pros settings is set to normal.

Let me know

Screenshot Captor / Multi-Shot Capture (???)
« on: July 22, 2010, 12:23 PM »
I am having a stroke, or stroke of genius; I am unsure  :P

Is there a way to set up SSC to take Multiple shots over a short defined period of time?
Something Like Speed shot for a Cannon Camera.
I can set a defined Burst to Capture "X" photos/Frames over "X" seconds with a start of "X" delay.
I can only imagine the system resources that may have to be incurred.

That being the case would it be better to use Camtasia to do a video, save as an AVI, then capture screens using a still capture from a Media player such as VLC???

Looking for options.
I need to capture something in action, but NOT as a video  :tellme:

angramanyu was kind enough to send me a PM and remind me that I promised to make a tutorial for him regarding teh earlier conversation.

I am here to report that once again I failed to delivered as promised  :-[

I have been working overtime with Markham, the folks at Dexpot, and Rainmeter on a collaborative project. and I have taken on several contracts of late the occupy y time from Tuesday through Friday. So I have been limited on time.
Also I looking to track down an affordable server to handle the bandwidth that Circle Dock takes up in it's downloads, which is extreme.  :P
This is no excuse.

to angramanyu; my apologies.
I will get this up either by the end of business today, or by the end of the weekend  :-\
I should stop everything I am doing to make this tutorial, but am knee deep in graphics requests for Circle Docks next major release.

I will get this tutorial done and out to you as soon as I can

My apologies for not doing so sooner  :-[
