Post New Requests Here / Utility to find UNIQUE set of files
« on: July 31, 2009, 10:18 AM »
Hi,

I need an utility to find UNIQUE set of files across a specified set of multiple locations (either drive letters or folder paths). In short, if the file occurs ONLY at ONE of the locations provided without being present at any of the other locations, I need to identify these files. This is to ensure that I back them up as soon as possible.

I need to use this to find files that are not available in my backup sets across multiple locations. Normal utilities for duplicate finder only finds duplicate files across multiple locations and not the other way around.

Folder synchronization utilities finds missing files but they do not accept more than two locations at a time and hence cannot be used to find unique files across more than two sets of locations.

If anyone is aware of such an utility existing, please send me the URL for same.

Thanking in advance,

Edcu

Post New Requests Here / Maintaining Windows explorer Detail view
« on: January 17, 2009, 03:22 AM »
Windows explorer in Windows XP has no "reliable" way of remembering to always show directory in detail mode. Even if the "Reset all folders" and "Apply to all folders" in Tools / Folder Options / Views is clicked after setting to detail view, it does not work reliably. Any application to ensure that Windows Explorer uses Detail view by default at all times is welcome.

Post New Requests Here / Save Quick launch toolbar
« on: January 17, 2009, 03:15 AM »
Whenever I use ccleaner to clean temporary files, or my OS crashes, I find that Quick launch toolbar disappears. I have to get it back by using Properties / Toolbars / Quick launch on Taskbar right click menu once again. Even then, it does not "remember" the three items that existed in the toolbar earlier and I have to drag and drop the programs needed once again. Any way to "remember" and restore the quick launch toolbar in exactly same order as existed before will be good.
