How do you un-register the shell extension if one decides to remove it?

Magic Folder is a cool ahk script that puts a magic folder on the desktop that allows all folders and files to be organized in a 'hidden folder' (which is not really hidden but located at a user-specified location).

I don't know how to describe it other than to say that it I have been using it for a few months and find it to be very helpful.

Finished Programs / Re: AltTab Fingertips v1.3 - 14 Jan 08

I tried to set it from the tray icon but it didn't work.  I also tried to edit the script to change "F10" to "!{Tab}" but that didn't work either.

I just discovered this great script  :Thmbsup:, and several others by Justice.

Can anyone tell me how to over ride the standard Windows alt tab hotkey with this one?

I unchecked all the search folders.  Now it launches very quickly. :Thmbsup:  Thanks!

Find And Run Robot / Why does it take FARR so long to open?
« on: July 13, 2009, 06:29 AM »
When I launch FARR, it takes about 30 seconds to open on my Windows XP 32-bit laptop.  Is this normal?  Anything I can do to speed it up?

57
This is pretty cool!  Would it be possible to edit the script so the .gif's can be embedded within the script, instead of the the folder?

Find And Run Robot / FARR Request: Sorting Columns in aliases box
« on: February 08, 2009, 10:37 AM »
It would be nice to be able to sort these two columns alphabetically in the aliases box.

 I will backup.  What freeware alternatives are there?

60
Let me make sure I understand correctly.   :-\

Let's say I have a FAT32 300GB drive D.  I can create a second 50 GB partition called T: which would be NTFS, and reduce the D: partition to 250GB while preserving the FAT32 format of D:, and preserving the data non-destructively, correct?

61
The drive I am referring to is an external USB 300 GB drive that has about 50% free space available.  I am not sure of the exact terminology but the entire 300GB is presently in an FAT32 format.

I want to create an NTFS partition so that I can use Truecrypt to store a virtual encrypted Volume that is far in excess of the 4 GB limit for FAT32.  But I have never added a partition to a drive and I want to make sure I doon't loose the existing data.

Will Partition Magic do that?

62
Fodder, I want to move from FAT32 to NTFS.  That is why I want to know how to make an NTFS partition on the FAT32 external hard drive.

63
I am looking for recommended software to create an NTFS partition on a FAT32 external hard drive without losing data?

The purpose of this is to use Truecrypt to create an encrypted Volume larger than the 4 Gig limit allowed on a FAT32 drive.

64
Kartal, I'm not exactly sure what you're looking for but it lists every *.ink file along with its target exe file.  The list can be sorted by broken and NON-broken shortcuts.  It also lists the name and path for both, among other things.

65
There is an excellent free program to manage/remove shortcuts.  See ShortcutsMan at www.nirsoft.net

Find And Run Robot / Re: Search Folders Only?

Ability to search for folders is a great idea but when I type +\ or -\ it doesn't seem to work.  Any other suggestions?

Post New Requests Here / Re: IDEA: Prevent Screensaver from Stopping

Just so I understand, are you trying to prevent someone from accessing your computer while you are away from it for a short period of time and the screensaver is activated?

FARR Plugins and Aliases / Re: Screenshot aliases using MiniCap
« on: October 20, 2008, 09:00 AM »
My preference would be to have the image copied to the clipboard by default, and to have 'select region capture' as the default or highest score.  Would it be possible for you to tell me what syntax to put in the minicap.alias file to achieve this?

Thanks,
jdd

TucknDar, I just came across your mcap package.  This awesome alias is a must-have.  Very nice!  :Thmbsup:

70
Perfect!  Thank You.   :Thmbsup:

Yes.

skrommel,

This is a great little program.  I have another small request.  I would like to add another line to the ini file with the purpose indicated below.  I don't know the proper syntax so I have explained its purpose in the fourth line which I called "new item".

cputhreshold=5 is the max load of the CPU.
checkinterval=1 is how often to check tha CPU load.
idleduration=60 is how long the CPU load must be below the threshold
new item = require that any key on the keypad must be touched be touched AFTER the idleduration requirement is fulfilled, but BEFORE the *.exe program is executed.

Thanks,
jdd

jgpaiva,

I walked away from the computer for a few minutes and when I returned, it had executed the program I wanted.  I still cant change the settings by right clicking the tray icon though.

May I ask a follow up question?  The whole purpose of my interest is to invoke IdleRun and run a *.exe instead of the screensaver *.scr file.  Is this what will  IdleRun will do?  I haven't had enough time to test it now that it appears to be semi-functional.

74
I edited the ini file as shown below to include the the location of the program I want to run at idle.  When I run the script and right click on the tray icon to change the settings, it still opens Notepad with an Windows error message that says "The file name, directory name or volume syntax is incorrect".

Is my syntax correct?

[Action]
program=C:\Program Files\Screen Locker\matrix.exe
message=CPU is idle!
exit=1
[Settings]
cputhreshold=5
checkinterval=1
idleduration=60

75
Skrommel,

I am was trying to use IdleRun to run an exe when the cpu goes idle.  Is this one of itss intended purposes?

When I run the script and right click on the tray icon to change the settings, it opens Notepad with an Windows error message that says "The file name, directory name or volume syntax is incorrect".

Also, I opened the script to edit it but I can't seem to figure out which linie is used to input the exe file I want to run.  Are you able to help?

I am using Windows XP Pro.

Thanks,
jdd
