Hi everybody,

And first of all, thanks a lot Mouser for giving us the opportunity to advertise on your forum. It's a very appreciated gesture, as your whole website, and spirit are !  :D  :D

Sarah and I (Christophe) are happy to announce the creation of our website.

Even if our website is still under construction, our goal at imagic2015 is to provides the best service for foreigners, guiding them through French administration processes in a smooth and serene manner.

You'll be able to find some useful information about life in France, and especially about all your officialdoms.

We've also made a forum, in French and in English, where you'll be able to find some very useful informations about life in France in general.

Feel free to have a look, don't hesitate to register and to post or to ask some questions in the forum.

Sincerely,
Imagic2015 team.

[Edit]
Because I'm also creating the website myself, and also because it's the first time I'm doing this kind of job, I'm still "a little bit"    confused about it. So, any criticism, comments or remarks, even negative, will be GREATLY appreciated, as I know that a lot of people on DC have a very valuable experience in that domain.

Living Room / French Learning Websites
« on: July 13, 2009, 06:07 AM »
Hi everybody,

This thread is a continuation of Skesselman's thread "WMP & lots of tiny .wav files", in which she was talking about French learning websites.

For those who are interested in learning French I've made a (little) selection of website which can certainly be interesting and seems to be very well done.

Here :
http://french.about.com/

http://www.bonjour.com/ (this one is very interesting and easy : a lot of common words and sentences with the sound that you can listen (without any weird configuration) and the way it would be written in English to make the correct pronunciation)

http://www.bbc.co.uk/languages/french/ (this one is very well done…and clear)

http://www.babbel.com/

http://www.babelnation.com/french/ (the "Facebook" of learning language !)

http://www.verbalpla...com/learn-french.asp (this one is kind of fun, because you can have ‘real’ lessons with a French teacher…on skype !!!  but you have to pay for each session (25-35 $))

More reviews to come after having tested them more deeply.

Amusez-vous bien !  ;)

If I'm only using these lessons at home on my pc, does it matter which format I use? They give you a choice of .mp3 or .wav.

No, it doesn't.

Also, be sure to check those settings in FF :

> Tools > Options
then "applications" tab,
then search for "wav"
and be sure that another option than "download file" is selected.

But I seem to be getting less and less enchanted with technology as time goes on. I no longer see technology as something intrinsically liberating. Quite the opposite in fact.

+1
The more things are complex, the less free we are...they ask so much just to maintain them in a normal state...

Living Room / Re: Has your phone replaced your camera?
« on: September 03, 2008, 10:36 AM »
Certainly not.

And you can't compare both.

Phone's camera have to be used (imho) as an information grabber, like a quick scan utility (a book title, a product reference, ...) or a quick fun multimedia messaging (when it works !!!  ;)).

The MP argument is a big joke (even on regular camera thought). it means (almost) absolutely nothing, except if you plan to print a 4*3 meter poster !

And also don't forget that what make the difference of quality in a picture (I'm not talking of the photographer of course !) is much more the lens than the quantity of pixel on your camera...and phones lens are ridiculous.
