That works great, thanks.

For those interested in tiddlywiki, there's a small one here http://sidebarnotes.tiddlyspot.com/ (you can download it from that site to reside on your local machine) that pops up pretty quickly and so far seems to function normally.  Its designed to run in the sidebar in firefox, but I think its actually more handy in FARR as you can access it fast without needing firefox to be open at the time.

One thing, it (FARR) won't allow you to save changes to the local file.  Is that something that is fixable?

Thanks again,
DP

I have a dumb question: Is this "htmlviewurl" thing mainly for plugin developers, or is it also the average non-programmer (like me).  I tried plunking in

<a href='farr://htmlviewurl exacttimenow.com'><img src='%FARRDIR%\AliasGroups\Installed\Core_Aliases\icons\farr\core-internet_www.ico'></a><br>click the image to Internal Surf to exacttimenow.com<br><br><a href='farr://restartsearch gowebpage'>use internal command to launch FARR webpage in external browser</a>

to a test alias, but nothing happened (and obviously I don't know what the heck I'm doing).  Is there an htmlviewurl for dummies written somewhere?  I did a cursory search on this site but couldn't find anything.  I'd like to test this on a tiddlywiki file, but don't know where to start...

s.newave: The stable version (which is a few versions back) is linked at farr's web page
it used to be but i made this the latest stable version. oops.

I'm not sure if this is what you meant by the above, but the version on the website that says its 2.07.01 is actually 2.10.01

I'll try it again tomorrow...

looks like the problem has been located, but for completions sake, I ran quickdoclauncher, and it didn't fix it.

Dave,

btw, it wasn't "stupid Vista" it was "stupid AVG"

Hi, sorry - I've been away and now I can't download anything... stupid Vista!

When I can get that file going, I'll let you know what happens

There's definitely something different - its opening spreadsheets in open office when I have it set for excel

I could have sworn that before this update, when I clicked a link to a text file from a FARR list, it would open in Ted Notepad (that's what I have the default application set as for txt files), but today they're opening in notepad.exe.

Any suggestions?

Find And Run Robot / how to unblock FARR in Vista

Whenever I try to run FARR, UAC comes up and says "an unidentified program wants access to your computer".  In windows defender it says "not yet classified" and it is not digitally signed.

Other than turning off UAC, is there a way to get it to run on startup, i.e. any way to "unblock" FARR permanently (right now I have to start it up manually each time I reboot)

Thanks,

Dave Parker

Right now my shortcut to gmail will open a new tab even if I already have it open in a tab (firefox).  Things would be faster if the shortcut could just go to the one that's already loaded.  I figured this would already be in existence, but I can't find it.

Thanks,
DP

Coding Snacks / Re: structured plaintextfile based note taker

Hi, I just skim read this and did a search for the word "Blade" and found no mention of it.  Blade Wiki is a text file based wiki where the files are kept in one folder, and the best part for me is you can have the system on a pocket pc if you want and sync it with the desktop version.

Its here: http://bladewiki.site.io/homepage.htm

The only problem is that when you make notes from within the program that have spaces in the title, the file gets saved with a "%20" in the name instead of a space.  The only problem is if you use other programs (like FARR) to find files it's harder to spot phone numbers for example "Doe,%20John%20555-1234".  so I just use periods instead: "Doe,.John.555.1234"

HTH,
