If anyone feels that they missed out the authors of Automise have sent me a 90% gift voucher as a thank you for taking advantage of the BDJ offer. The first reply to this message can have it. Please only reply if you intend to use it though as it is a single use code that must be redeemed before 13 Dec.

I'm in as well. I could really use the excuse to properly implement GTD instead of searching for a software tool that will provide a "silver bullet".

I think that other report would be me! I suspect that Gavrila is stumped over what is causing it. Would it be worth us comparing other software we have installed that might be causing it? I have one PC that runs TU3 and one that crashes as you describe. I would be happy to list software that is on the "problem" PC and not on the one that is working and see if you are using any of them.

Update: Gavrila has now sorted a fix out for the problem and TU3 is now running fine again (I believe m_s is sorted out as well).

A big thank you from me as well.  ;D

Donationcoder has always been exceptionally useful in helping me identify good software, but now it even helps me get it.

I have generally failed to pay much attention to reviews on other sites because I have found the quality to be patchy, but I was struck by how many of the early DC review winners were apps that I had chosen to use. All in all a very useful place to hang out!!

I'm using 2003 as well. I tried on their forums but the author seems to be missing at the moment.

Does the silence mean that it works fine for everyone else or that no-one is using Direct Folders?

I assume that Mouser at least had it working for the review!

Best Dialog Extender / Getting Direct Folders to work with MS Office
« on: December 05, 2005, 06:47 AM »
Is anyone else having trouble with the above? Direct folders always shows the folder name as blank in the "add" section of the recent folders dialog and it doesn't seem to track the folders that I have visited using MS Office.

I have only just registered the Pro version and it seems to have an option to run a command at the start of a recording, but then is limited to closing a window at the end.

all i can say is...
november will be a special month here at donationcoder  ;)

If you could make it special before the 7th that would be great  ;)

(my WSW trial expires then in case it wasn't obvious). I appreciate the tip anyway.

Basically using, owning or even discussing techniques on how to circumvent copy protection on DVDs or CDs would become illegal under this legislation.

I am pretty sure that in the UK circumventing copy protection on CDs or DVDs is already a criminal offence under the The Copyright And Rights Regulations Act! I think that came in at the end of 2003.

I had tried Bookmark Buddy before and taken a dislike to it. However I have grown to trust the opinions of people round here so I have been taking another look.

On the plus side it's quick and light. It also has almost all of the functionality that I want.

The only real functional gaps for me are that I wish it would get keywords from the sites as I bookmark them and that the search seems a little more buried than in Powermarks or Linkman.

The bit that I am still not keen on is the interface. Not being able to see the sub-categories until you select a category makes me feel like I am wearing blinkers. I am going to persevere though in case it grows on me.

I had missed how good it was though and once again this forum has proved the collective knowledge of it's members.

You could add Robotask to that list as well.

General Software Discussion / Managing Favourites
« on: August 23, 2005, 11:34 AM »
Hi

Does anyone have any recommendations for tools that manage favourite website URLs? I have used Kaylon's Powermarks and Outertech's Linkman in the past, but both now feel to have been abandoned to a greater or lesser extent. Powermarks also doesn't play well with many of the new browsers (I mostly use Maxthon).

If you are familiar with either of the above you will have guessed that I like to collect a lot of bookmarks and then categorize them by keyword. Folder-based structure tend to force you into a single categorisation that I find restrictive.

I guess the ideal would be a marriage of the flexible filing of Powermarks, the monitoring capabilities of Aignes WSW and the past version caching of Copernic Tracker.

I'm pretty sure that there isn't a perfect match out there, but is there something that I've missed?

Regards
Mark

The biggest problem with the Techsmith codec has always been making sure that people install it first. Lots of people seem to get very nervous when you ask them to install a codec.

I would add Camtasia to the list. http://www.techsmith.com
