Yep. Another one agreeing -- keep it as is.

Compulsive 'fiddlers' out there should remember:  "If it ain't broke don't fix it."

Many of us managed for years without email...

Simple solution:

*  Toss out your PC

*  Go and buy a quill

Happy days are here again.  Wink

@40hz

LOL LOL Good one! I greatly enoyed your spray! Hopefully after a change of tablets you'll feel even better  cheesy  Crabby?  Nah. Twitter and bisted? Nah.

Actually, you almost persuaded me to argue against myself...almost, but not quite.

At the end of the day Scouts are supposed to be relevant to kids today and fun. Something so many youngsters today miss out on.

So often they seem to be expected to move from infancy to adultery (yes...I know...good isn't it?) with nothing in between!

The listed requirements look pretty sound to me.

  • Lots of social interaction involved.
  • Plenty of socialization.
  • Finding and processing information.
  • Communicating that information.
  • Learning give'n'take
  • Comparing and contrasting to form opinions
  • Learning and practising technical skills
                  ...and so on

If the Scouts are to remain relevant to young people -- the 'clients' -- then the organisation has to move forward, keeping its finger on the contemporary pulse.

Change for the sake of change in this instance?

Don't think so.

It's just another step in evolution   smiley

I rest m'case m'Lud.

A well written review! Nice balance between pros and cons.

Thanks for that.

And is that Salisbury cathedral I can see on the cover?

I arrived just a coupla days ago because I was searching for a decent thesaurus I could run offline. (We poets and writers like words...Funny, that.)

And -- suddenly -- there was Mobysaurus. Top program  Thmbsup Thmbsup

The mechanism to buy a permanent key led me here.

So now you're stuck with me!!
8  Main Area and Open Discussion / Living Room / Re: People are really (really, really) stupid on: April 26, 2010, 06:00:43 PM
Stupid? Really stupid?

Hmmm...

It's really more a matter of: "There's my way -- and the wrong way."

Isn't it?

Or, as Isaiah 55:8 puts it:  "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways..."

Hey, we can't all be really right all of the time.  Wink

Can we?

See, there's all these different realities 'out there'. Those realities intersect at various points. [If they didn't we'd never be able to communicate.]

So what is stupid in one person's reality is actually quite sensible in another's.

[And what witness A sees is never quite the same as witness B etc etc.]

All a matter of perception -- really!  cheesy

9  Main Area and Open Discussion / Living Room / For when your PC next plays up... on: April 25, 2010, 08:19:38 PM
Hi

As this is my first post here's a little poem I wrote, to help you keep your cool...Well, that's the theory.  smiley

I'm a mobile, PC-whisperer in the mornings (and a writer in the afternoons) so I had no trouble coming up with the idea!

Enjoy...

YOUR SICK PC

There sits your stuffed computer.
Evil look upon its face.
"I'll give a hard time," it says.
"I'm putting you in your place."

"No need to do a thing," it says.
"Please -- leave everything to me.
I've decided that I'm the dog...
and you're certainly the tree."
