Hey Stoic Joker, maybe that can be a new measure of speed for thumb drives.

Stoic Joker Not pissed off = fast
Stoic Joker pissed off = acceptable
Stoic Joker jumping on his thumb drive = slow (and broken)
2  Main Area and Open Discussion / Living Room / Re: Recommend a 64GB\128GB pendrive on: April 02, 2014, 07:41:06 AM
MilesAhead - that is great value for the 64GB @ $33. It's a shame they don't ship outside of the US (at least at a reasonable price).

I found it on www.amazon.co.uk for £29 but to delivery to Ireland (it's only across the water) the seller wanted £30!  Go figure.

So to get it in the US would cost $33 and for me to get it delivered from a UK seller via Amazon would cost me $102 - triple the price.

So there you are in the one post I managed to get the $, £ and the €.

Edit - I added a screenshot of the costs from Amazon UK to Ireland
3  Main Area and Open Discussion / Living Room / Recommend a 64GB\128GB pendrive on: April 01, 2014, 06:38:44 AM
Hi,

I am looking to get myself a USB 3.0 pen\thumb drive.  Many of the sites I go to don't specify read\write speeds so I was wondering if someone could recommend a 64\GB or 128GB drive that has a balance of read\write speeds versus the cost?

Are there other factors I should consider?

Thanks
4  DonationCoder.com Software / LaunchBar Commander / Problems showing hints on: January 08, 2014, 03:41:17 AM
I raised this issue sometime back but I can't find the thread, however I have more details on the issue.

If I have a dock that is not minimised to the tray, I can get LBC to show hints on items at the top level but not in lower menus.  If I minimise the dock to the tray, then no hints show at all.  I have attached a few screenshots to show what I mean (or at least what I am trying to convey).  I also included a test dock (zipped as I couldn't upload it as it was an invalid extension) that I used for testing the problem.

No it's not a vision board (I had to look up what it was!). I thought I'd try create a collage with various photographs.  I'd prefer the 'artistic' layout rather than what I would consider the formal straight arrangement.

Google Picasa looks promising and with a price tag I appreciate - free smiley

Thank you all for your suggestions, I'll take a look at them later.

Hi,

Would anybody recommend collage software?  Once that might take around 25-30 photographs on the one page.

Thanks
8  DonationCoder.com Software / LaunchBar Commander / Bug in Tools? on: December 05, 2013, 03:02:41 AM
Hi,

I was trying all the various maintenance operations and when I clicked Tools -> Maintenance Operations -> Fixup All Changed Item Drive Letters after about 20 seconds I got a grey screenful of 'issues' and then I have to go into Task Manager and force close LBC (version 1.136.01).

Does this happen to anyone else?
9  DonationCoder.com Software / Screenshot Captor / Re: Poor man's 'gallery view' in Screenshot Capture on: September 16, 2013, 07:07:50 AM
I like the idea of an integrated browser tool, it's not me who has to do the hard work in coding it!  However, I think the filter option was a great bonus and I use it frequently.

Is there a keyboard shortcut to toggle the Thumbnail Viewer as I can't seem to find one but it would be helpful to be able to toggle it with a shortcut.

Quote
Having said all that, I just configured the (free for personal use) XnView as a tool in SC to browse the screenshot directory, and it does a very nice job.  Since you can drag+drop files from XnView into SC, it's hard to find a compelling reason to code another tool rather than just tell people to install XnView.  I'll add a default .sctool to the next Screenshot Captor release so that the XnView tool will show up automatically in your Screenshot Captor tool menu if you have XnView installed.  Ditto with IrfanView's thumbnail browser.

Instead of waiting for the next release of SSC could you attach the .sctool files now?

Thanks

The search bar is a great addition  Thmbsup

However, I get unexpected behavior. For example, if I search for 01_08_13 (this is for images that were created on 1st August 2013 and had the date as part of the name), I also seem to get a copy of the another image.  In the attachment below the 'unwanted' image was from 15th August and after I took the screenshot of SSC it refreshed the panel and replaced the incorrectly included image with the latest image I had just taken!

Can anyone else reproduce this or is it just my set-up?

[Edit]: If I type total random garbage into the search bar the same image shows up.

I am not sure what should happened when I run explorer.exe shell:::{67718415-c450-4f3c-bf8a-b487642dc39b} but I used DOPUS as my explorer replacement and it opens my Desktop (I am running Windows XP SP 3).

I have just installed the beta and while I don't use much of what you have changed, I will report if I encounter any problems with my day to day usage of LBC.
13  DonationCoder.com Software / LaunchBar Commander / Re: Mouse over hints on: July 25, 2013, 06:31:42 AM
Still no hints!  I'll try it at home to see if it works there (but it may not be an issue there).

I too have to jump to the defense of Screenshot Captor.  I work in the Irish Financial Sector and I have being using it in work for years without any issue.  The software had to be 'vetted' before being allowed into our organisation.
16  DonationCoder.com Software / LaunchBar Commander / Re: Mouse over hints on: July 22, 2013, 02:11:20 AM
Hi Mouser, no clicking a menu makes no difference. It's not meant to be!

MaxStacks idea is partly what I was trying to use my hints for.
17  DonationCoder.com Software / LaunchBar Commander / Re: Mouse over hints on: July 19, 2013, 07:33:02 AM
Is this where you mean as it's already checked:
18  DonationCoder.com Software / LaunchBar Commander / Re: Mouse over hints on: July 19, 2013, 06:55:09 AM
I have version 1.133.01 but none of my hints are showing.  Is there something I have accidentally disabled that is preventing the hints from displaying? Attached is an example of one of the nodes:
19  DonationCoder.com Software / Screenshot Captor / Re: "Hands Holding" mask/frame combo... on: April 19, 2013, 05:57:43 AM
Thanks cppm , you are correct, by moving the files into C:\Program Files\ScreenshotCaptor\Frames\Set 1 it worked.

However, using the handsholding2.png causes SSC to give this error: Access violation at address 00724360 in module 'ScreenshotCaptor.exe'. Read of address 00000000.

It is quite a cool frame and fair play to Kunkel321 for creating and sharing it.
20  DonationCoder.com Software / Screenshot Captor / Re: "Hands Holding" mask/frame combo... on: April 19, 2013, 04:32:54 AM
I did re-scan and I can see the frames but just not apply them.
21  DonationCoder.com Software / Screenshot Captor / Re: "Hands Holding" mask/frame combo... on: April 19, 2013, 02:47:16 AM
So what am I doing wrong?  I have three versions of the hands in my MyFrames folder:

C:\Program Files\ScreenshotCaptor\MyFrames\handsholding2.png.mask
C:\Program Files\ScreenshotCaptor\MyFrames\handsholding2.png
C:\Program Files\ScreenshotCaptor\MyFrames\KunkelHands.png
C:\Program Files\ScreenshotCaptor\MyFrames\KunkelHands.png.mask
C:\Program Files\ScreenshotCaptor\MyFrames\Handsholding.png
C:\Program Files\ScreenshotCaptor\MyFrames\handsholding.png.mask

I can see the images in the MyFrames folder but none of them will apply to my active screenshotm in fact nothing happens.  However, any of the default frames that come with SSC in the other folders work fine.
22  DonationCoder.com Software / Screenshot Captor / Re: 4.02 beta is up on: April 16, 2013, 07:30:40 AM
This is probably unrelated to 4.02 but if click Show Quick-Capture bar, then click 'Display Screenshot Capture options for quick capture bar' and click the cancel button without doing anything, the controls on the bar are removed, then it is left blank for about 2 seconds and then the controls are refreshed.
23  DonationCoder.com Software / Screenshot Captor / Re: Mouse follow option - idea on: March 22, 2013, 03:49:52 AM
I read your advice but it went in one ear and out the other - sorry!  I have made the change and it works grand.
24  DonationCoder.com Software / Screenshot Captor / Re: Mouse follow option - idea on: March 22, 2013, 02:53:37 AM
Using capture active window (with the window maximised) on monitor 1, it stills captures a few extra pixels on the right but it doesn't bother as I can crop it.

If I leave SSC open and active on one monitor and capture a screen from the other monitor, SSC gets minimised for a very short period of time and then gets restored to its previous state - I can live with that.
25  DonationCoder.com Software / Screenshot Captor / Re: Mouse follow option - idea on: March 21, 2013, 04:37:40 PM
Sorry for the confusion  embarassed

I have SSC configured to minimise after a capture. However, if I already have SSC open and I capture another screenshot, I thought it would remain open but instead it gets minimised.

So for instance, on monitor 1 I have SSC open and I take a screen shot on monitor 2, the screen is captured but SSC is minimised (note I can't confirm this for certain as I only have dual monitor in work and not at home where I am writing this).
