OK I know it sounds crazy (and downright dumb) but what are the chances of a creating a partially functioning version of FARR for a smartphone?
I just switched from WebOS (on HP Pre 3) to Android OS and having difficult time finding simple launchers or file finders.
Closest Android apps I have found so far are Fastrun (Russian) and Simple File Finder. Any suggestions???
Thanks, jdd

might try something like this (same idea as suggested by rjbull & jdd) - the cables shown in that TC link seem to be focused on copying stuff from older pc to newer one - in fact at least one of them seem to simply start copying stuff automatically according to an amazon review. They all work with their own software FYI There is no 'special' software required with most of the USB datalink connections that are designed for this purpose, such as the one I mentioned earlier. You should be able to use any flavor of Windows Explorer software. With XP, the drivers are loaded automatically when you connect the computers with the USB cables and, voila....you can copy or backup or move files from one to the other. Nothing should start copying or moving files automatically unless you set it up to intentionally do that. You do not need to mess around with Internet connections or IP addresses, or work groups or pinging or any of this other stuff.

Main Area and Open Discussion / General Software Discussion / Re: Question about AutoHotkey scripting

Mouser,
I am trying to simulate/define hotkeys that normally require simultaneous pressing of three keys (e.g. Ctrl-Alt-Delete). I would like to launch these hotkeys using a NON-SIMULTANEOUS pressing of two keystrokes.
So in this example, I would like to define a sequence of two NON-SIMULTANEOUS (e.g. 'k' followed by 'j') to simulate 'Ctrl-Alt-Delete'. Do you follow?
Can I do this in TapTap Hotkey Extender?

skwire, Thank you. That is what I was trying to do. I am not trying to create hotstrings.
The reason behind this query is that I am not very adept at using a keyboard. For me, hot keys that require 3 keys pressed simultaneously (or even two) is very cumbersome. Since I use a lot of hotkey combinations, the ability to create some using a one-hand 'tap tap' procedure is very powerful.
Fortunately, I have two hands. I can see how this would be a great tool for a person with one.

Main Area and Open Discussion / General Software Discussion / How safe is it to run portable apps on public computers?

I will be traveling without my laptop and was planning to bring a USB drive with portable apps including Firefox and a VPN client.
If I run these applications from my USB drive in a public computer in a lobby or Internet cafe, will it leave traces of personal information that I use to log into accounts on Firefox (e.g., gmail other web mail, or OWA)? I also was thinking of connecting by VPN to my employers servers. How safe is all this???
Thanks, jdd
