After evaluating on and off for 3+ years, I finally bit and purchased a standard license back in January, now I have upgraded to the Pro version (for a couple features). I went from WinOrganizer (formerly Golden Section Organizer) to Keynote to KeynoteNF to RightNote. For me, it is everything I've wanted in an organizer (minus a nice calendar system and easy, yet powerful web clipping like Surfulater, but those aren't THAT important to me right now). The development and updates have really taken off in the last year and the program is becoming quite polished. Satisfied customer here.

Regarding #1, I have completely rewritten a nice new thumbnail panel system but i just have to tweak it a little more before i integrate.. it solves the refreshing and is better in a bunch of ways. what i have to do is get the normal right click file menu to work on it.
I thought i solved #2; i will look again.
Thanks for the update, very much looking forward to the improved refreshing and the soon to be implemented, improved scroll capturing functionality. Keep up the amazing work!

My biggest complaint recently is the dismal file transfer speeds. It takes forever to copy/move files from one place to another! It shouldn't take 2 minutes to copy 50MB!
that's got to be annoying. there's something weird going on with your machine - could it be related to the same problem vista had when it first came out? i never had the problem so i don't know what the solution was/is. as for an "8" reqest: bring back the old xp taskbar (as an option) so i don't have to use several fixes and work arounds to get the same thing on "7". whoever designed the "7" taskbar obviously only runs a couple of programs at a time - or they just use their mac instead. Mind if I asked how you accomplished this? I'm frustrated with what I see as a taskbar and tasktray in Windows 7 so far. Why does everything have to be so far spaced out. How bout any hacks to make the tasktray icons closer? Customize a StartButton Menu? Thx

My UPS guy has to HATE me. He just rings the buzzer and leaves the package now, doesn't even wait for me. I order 1 or 2 shipments a week, been on Prime for 4 years now (much of it for other people). It's Flawless! Amazon rocks. Returns are SO easy, they usually cover all return shipping (if you select the proper reason for return ) There is definitely a difference between ordering from Amazon and it's third-party sellers, not too hard to distinguish. PLUS, big plus here, I can order stuff for other people. I can order it through my prime, have it delivered to their house (2 days). OR Add their credit card to my account and have it shipped to them OR me. Then delete their number right after the order is placed. TOO Easy. As long as it doesn't change any, I will keep renewing. I must say I greatly miss the price matching, I got SO much money back using that.

Well this myth will be perpetuated for as long as retailers like BestBuy make BANK on their inflated cable sales, it's seriously the item with the highest profit margin they carry, CABLES! And lots of em. If they didn't have THAT money, they and others probably would not survive. If they did not survive, uninformed consumers would begin to turn more to the internet to find all of their cables and BECOME more informed (most people just assume they need spendy cables), driving these over-glorified cables and their pushers down. Hopefully, some day. Just to remind, buy cables here! here! here! here! and here! www.monoprice.comwww.cablesforless.comwww.amazon.comwww.newegg.comwww.totalsignal.comAnd speaking of cables, Usb 3.0 is now showing up everywhere. Looks like lengths up to 15 feet are not a problem and the power spec is greater than Usb 2.0 How very EXCITING!

Main Area and Open Discussion / General Software Discussion / Re: Complaint: FeedDemon is now adware, but does not disclose it
|
on: December 28, 2009, 11:57:08 PM
|
First, just to respond to the initial topic, I don't have an issue with anyone complaining that we should've done more to make it clear that FeedDemon is ad-ware (unless you purchase a serial number). I thought we'd done quite a bit to make that clear, but Marek is correct - we didn't mention that in the software license, and we don't state that on the download page, and perhaps we should've. I guess what gets me is the tone of the original complaint, which said that I'd "lied down with dogs," and suggested that we were purposely not disclosing the fact that the unlicensed FeedDemon displays ads, that we may be sharing your Google login (we're not - that would be suicide) and automatically subscribing you to feeds even when you chose not to. I wouldn't have survived for so long in this business if I didn't treat customers with respect, and I get ruffled when someone suggests otherwise.
Should've? I don't think it's ever too late. Is it? I still see no mention of ads or ad-ware on the product page or a download page. Does anyone else? Is there now a visible disclaimer in the installer? I don't see it. To me it seems the original post and its tone was right on. I would like to know what the quite a bit to make that clear part was. It couldn't be much clearer than representing it as the ad-ware (license optional) software that it is, on the main product page and within the installer like other respectable programs do. Thanks to the OP on this one.

Hey everyone, I don't work for magic jack, really. I'm not even a client, serious. But gosh darn I really felt the need to talk about the magic jack. I must say that I am rather disappointed with the lack of comments about magic jack the last 7 months. We were going so good for a while there then POOF! nobody had anything good to say about the magic jack any more. It was like someone ran out of things to say, or creative ways to say them rather, or as though the clipboard majackilly stopped working. Personally, I got very LIMP when thinking about the magic jack, I'm looking for some new oil to fix this problem. I had a great review of magic jack on my blog, it was a great review, I didn't say the magic jack was great, but the review was. It went on and on about how everyone was always so happy with with their magic jack and refused to stop talking about it. It was really quite unbelievable. So much so, that I decided to stop writing about it because I finally met someone who had a magic jack. But I think we all know how THAT went! What can I say, when ya need to make a call, or pitch a......call someone who cares!

Any company that releases the same program in updated form with a new name, but isn't eligible for upgrade pricing, because its "a new program" or name rather! is shady enough to not be worth a download. You may think the way you did, but you really shouldn't have said it out loud, at least not the way you did it, implying all sorts of things, without knowing. Besides, comparing Clonespy with DF2009 is like comparing apples and pears, they are not the same, for the very simply reason that Clonespy doesn't read tags. Yah, please excuse me, sometimes my hands contract short-term tourettes from my mouthy noodle. Without actually being a long term customer it is hard to make any accurate statement about their software or practices. I'll try better to keep my skepticism's to myself.

I think I'll stick with the free Clonespy, works like a charm for some time now. Any company that releases the same program in updated form with a new name, but isn't eligible for upgrade pricing, because its "a new program" or name rather! is shady enough to not be worth a download. Seems similar to other foreign softwares that have setup and disappeared into the night like, WinOrganizer, TexNotes/To-Do Organizer, Audio Identifier, etc.. Steve Miller song lyrics come to mind....

Definitely a thread in need of revival (can't believe this thread got so lost). OK, so three just isn't enough...
PStart (Portable Launcher) XYPlorer (File Manager) foobar2000 (Audio Player) Firefox Portable 3.0.10 (Internet Browser) File Locator Pro (Search Tool) EmEditor (Text Editor) IMGBurn (Media Burner) Batchrun (.bat Compiler) FARR (Yes, I finally installed it mouser!)
Anyone else have some new favorite portable apps 1.5 years later.....

In continuing this old thread, any new PC isn't good enough without a quality solid state disk (SSD) main drive. Benefits include faster transfers (except with MANY smaller files), less heat, runs quieter, smaller size (Space!), better responsiveness (snappier application usage), longer life, less power consumption and much less of a failure rate compared to typical hard drives. The main downfall is recovery, not an option that I know, so you would have to be sure to backup regularily. So far, this one wins hands down...
