umm...for what it's worth, I think Charlie Sheen is a very sensitive, deeply misunderstood artist. He just hasn't found his medium yet. No, seriously, I can picture him locking himself in his bedroom at night and crying himself to sleep. He needs a torpedo of love, not our heartless mirth at his expense.
I was wondering if maybe, you know, we (Donation Coder) could do something to help him find himself? I was thinking of a donation drive to raise enough money to send him to a good art school. Or maybe, deep down inside there's a little geek inside him crying to get out and he could use the money for his certification as a Microsoft network engineer or something.
So, what do you guys think? Would one of you like to approach Mouser about it?

I took a look at it. I respect their design philosophy (create a simple database app for home users), and I think they succeed on that count. I am looking for something along those lines, myself, but the two things which were deal breakers for me: you can't compile each Display (database) into a stand-alone which runs without starting the Database Oasis front-end itself, and the field (as well as query) options were too limited for my purposes.
There seems to be a veritable dearth of database apps which achieve the happy medium I'm looking for: inexpensive, easy to use, yet sophisticated enough to do everything a home/small business user could want. Database Oasis is well on its way toward that goal, imo, and I hope they continue development.
What did you like, and what didn't you like, about Database Oasis, J-Mac?

XP stores its log files in C:\Windows\System32\Config (by default). Each Windows log file has an .evt extension. (Personally, I use the full version of EventSentry (EventSentry Lite is free): http://www.netikus.net/ Why? Because it not only records and presents system events with more detail, but can be setup to trigger a popup or email notification using custom triggers.)

Excellent warning. I've adopted the strategy of always using my credit card through PayPal (whenever possible). If any vendor tries to stiff me (by violating the terms of sale), PayPal gets contacted immediately and I register a dispute with them against that vendor. From PayPal:
'If you are unable to resolve a dispute with a seller, you may file a claim that a PayPal investigating agent will review. If you are unable to resolve the dispute, the next step is to file a formal complaint. At this point – depending on fund availability in the seller’s account – the funds are frozen for the amount of the transaction. PayPal will contact both parties. If our investigation team finds the claim in favor of the buyer, the amount of the transaction, if available from the seller, will be transferred back to the buyer.' (Plus, they can revoke the vendor's account with them. As the world's premier e-commerce transaction agent, that can be quite crippling.)
PS - Of course, the above is in addition to the protections offered by my individual credit card issuer(s).

1. For a rational judge to overturn the frivolous paternity suits against me. All twenty of them. 2. For some direction from God. God knows what happens when left to my own devices (see #1 above). 3. Martha Stewart's Playboy debut, before Hef kicks the bucket. 4. An anti-priapism pill. An effective anti-priapism pill. Not one which gives out 20 minutes before the end of your presentation at the podium, in front of 200 women's rights activists. 5. For some balance in my life. Instead of coding half looped on tequila, maybe a glass of red wine before I begin, and a glass afterwards, if I manage 5 minutes of work. Champagne, if the code itself works. 6. To be a positive role model for youngsters thinking about becoming a programmer. 7. For Microsoft to stick to one OS naming convention, instead of deferring to marketing types who'd name their own sons Johnson&Johnson Smith if they thought they could get away with it.

(I started it back in 2002. Unfortunately, I can't seem to motivate myself to finish it...and I'm also dealing with self-esteem issues too, now that I've put on a lot of weight. Hopefully, no one will spoil the ending for me. It's the trip journey that counts, not the denistation .)

I don't think your tasks are as simple as they might seem, but there is a commercial product which can easily handle all of them: Textpipe However, it's expensive and has a relatively steep learning curve (read: how familiar are you with regular expressions?). My suggestion: if your task at hand is a 'one shot deal' (read: only needs to be done once and that's it), then go for the excellent solutions offered here. If not, consider the onetime purchase of Textpipe an investment which will pay off in spades if you're planning on doing more text manipulation work in the future. (And, no, I'm not affiliated with them whatsoever; I'm just a customer.)

Sounds like Chameleon Start Up Manager is exactly what you're looking for: http://www.chameleon-mana.../windows-startup-manager/I think the DC discount for it is still valid: http://www.donationcoder....m/index.php?topic=10381.0I'm a true blue fan of Startup Delayer also. The single feature I'd like to see implemented: automatic calculation of item delay time and implementation. I hate having to use calculator to multiply the number of items by the delay time spacing (usually 4 seconds), and entering it into the input box. I'm pretty sure implementing this feature would be a cake walk for the developer(s). It could easily be done within the input box code block, by adding a simple text box for the user defined delay time spacing, adding two variables, one for the item count (simple counting of enabled items) and one for the delay time spacing, then calculating and implementing each item's delay time. Chameleon Start Up Manager does this and more. Much more. My preference, however, is for simplicity whenever possible.

Originally, my (x)friends used to call me Einstein at college. And not in a complimentary way, either. In fact, they did it to humiliate me, out of jealousy because I found the holy grail of physics: I solved the unification of the four forces problem. I'm still startled by the elegance of my solution:
Fs = strong nuclear force Fe = electromagnetic force Fw = weak nuclear force Fg = gravitational force
Fs + Fe + Fw > Fg Fg < Sa
Sa > Fs + Fe + Fw
Since Sa is greater than Fs + Fe + Fw, and Fg is lesser than Fs + Fe + Fw, then Fg < Fs + Fe + Fw + Sa or Sa > Fs + Fe + Fw + Fg. Therefore, there is a force greater than the combined four forces. If there is a force greater than the combined four forces, then they can't be unified unless Sa is a rational number. Unfortunately, although Sa (sexual attraction) is real, it is also irrational. And it is greater than the four forces combined.
Upon termination of my scholarship, and a sound paddling from the dean in front of the student body, I decided to go back to my roots. Shywolf is my North American Indian name, and the non de plumage under which I write.

I didn't find it very funny at all. People have no idea how precious few 'bad hair days' I've had before trying the natural remedy out of sheer desperation. You try going around saying things like 'Wow, love your smile!', 'I think the world is lucky to have someone like you in it!', 'What a beautiful day!', and 'I have so much to be thankful for, I think I'll write a love letter to Oprah.' Ostracism, death threats, and the withholding of se...umm...hugs with benefits followed me around until I hit cloud nine. That was my wake up call; today, however, I'm sad to report that I've been at rock bottom for over a month now. Sure, there will probably be days when I get back on the wagon again, but I have friends now, bad friends, who are willing to pull me off. Thanks for nothing.
