conduit is hard to get rid of completely.  I have tried a lot of different malware removers but they just cannot seem to eradicate it.  Sad

if there is a way to do it, I would love to know what it is.

Shades, I am not a big fan of PPT either, especially when the presenter only reads what is on the slide.  I am perfectly capable of doing my own reading ... don't need to be read to.  cheesy
3  Main Area and Open Discussion / Living Room / Re: are wireless projectors just a bandwidth hog? on: April 06, 2014, 07:19:44 AM
It would be power points most likely without voice overs.  Also they will show you tube videos.
4  Main Area and Open Discussion / Living Room / Re: are wireless projectors just a bandwidth hog? on: April 06, 2014, 07:18:03 AM
We are using Ubiquit Unifi Pro for an access points.  Each room has their own AP.  If I am remembering correctly, we do have some limits in place.  I will be in that building on Tuesday and will try to double check for sure.
5  Main Area and Open Discussion / Living Room / are wireless projectors just a bandwidth hog? on: April 05, 2014, 05:50:54 PM
is anyone using wireless projectors in the classroom.  They have come down in price quite a bit.  But, I was wondering what wifi projection will do to my wifi network that has ipads and laptops on it.  Almost all of the rooms have an access point in them.

I am looking at Epson EX5220 to use in our school. Epson

Does wireless projection take a lot of bandwidth?

Looking for some feedback here.

Thanks
Dave
6  Main Area and Open Discussion / General Software Discussion / Re: Unchecky: automatically unchecking unwanted offers, while installing software! on: February 08, 2014, 01:35:16 PM
I don't know how it works either, but it looks like they work with various installers.  If you find one it doesn't work with, then you can request they update it to work with it.

or something like this ... embarassed
7  Main Area and Open Discussion / General Software Discussion / Re: Unchecky: automatically unchecking unwanted offers, while installing software! on: February 08, 2014, 07:59:15 AM
I looked at this yesterday and it looks really good.  I installed it on my home computer and am looking to install it on the school computers too.  I get tired of sitting in front of a teacher computer only to find it has some mcaffee or norton sw on it.  I know that I didn't do it cause we don't use either one.  Sometimes I will see Adobe Reader 4 on them because they installed some really old educational software that things it needs ver 4 and they ain't smart enough to uncheck the box.   Angry

this could be really good piece to have to keep away all the junk that java and adobe want you to have!   smiley

I will miss Crossloop.  Didn't use it all that much but when I did...

now will have to find another one  Sad
9  Main Area and Open Discussion / Living Room / Re: Hard Drive Brand Reliability Data on: January 21, 2014, 09:30:36 PM
when it comes to laptop drives, my experience has been Hitachi and Toshiba have more problems than the WD drives that I use.

3.5" drives, I find that Samsung and WD are at the top of my list.
10  Main Area and Open Discussion / General Software Discussion / Re: How to repair zip files? on: January 15, 2014, 05:29:07 AM
+1 to Shades and Ath's response.  i was getting this same error while using the Win 7 built in utility.  Sad  Then on a suggestion from a friend I tried 7-zip and it was able to uncompress it without any problems at all.   smiley

I believe they used a newer utillty to compress it the win 7 tool just couldn't handle it.

DR_Andus, i believe that they do.  Google's word process would be one.  I am not your typical app person.  I don't need a lot of apps, thus I don't download and play with many.  More and more of google's apps are designed to work offline.  1st generation of stuff, you had to be online, but now they are seeing one of the errors of their ways and changing it.  and they do have a dropbox app too!

it appears its working after that.  i just removed the slash marks in front of CONFIGDIR=.

no errors at the moment.

thanks, Mouser

it won't let me save the ini files either.  same reason.  it redirected to H and not F drive.  Also since I am not win 7, it should just be DOCUMENTS folder and not My Documents.
14  DonationCoder.com Software / N.A.N.Y. 2014 / Re: NANY 2014 Release: Process Piglet on: January 03, 2014, 06:20:36 AM
Mouser, I got the following error when I installed this at work.  My computer is part of a domain and the document folder is redirected to the server, hence the F drive.

it says: ATTN: Error Creating Log file
\\fserver\xxx\dave\my documents\donationicoder\processpiglet\operationslog.txt

so how do i fix this?

well Doc, I was leary of the Chromebooks to at first.  from a dead start, its about 10 seconds. when i close the lid and then reopen it, its just a few seconds.  its certainly at this point not any slower than my 16gb iPad 2!

I don't see any vents on the CB either.  with its SSD, you probably don't need them.  I certainly haven't heard any fans either.   smiley

the worst part about my Chromebook is the fact it is a loaner.  st some point I will have to return it ... and then get my own.  But I am wanting one with a larger screen.   Thmbsup

nice app, Mouser.  I just downloaded it on my Win 7 system.  I noticed that Firefox with 5 open tabs was consuming around 275 meg.  I changed one tab to Facebook 9still only 5 tabs open) and the usage went up to 350meg.

how interesting.  I change it back to the original tab which was a national weather service page and it dropped to 288 meg.

the more FB tabs i have open, the more memory it uses.   Sad

how about a Google Chromebook?  I am using the Samsung Model 303 which is 11.6" screen and about as close to instant on as you will find in a laptop.  I do not know if they are available with backlit keyboards.  I understand there is a touchscreen version available.

you can choose an app that will sync with the cloud so that your data is available to you from anywhere, any type of device.

the keyboard on it is much better than the keyboard on my wife's Surface RT tablet.

Mouse, a auto mechanic might be interested in this.  But I would say it fit a hot rodder or engine rebuilder better.
19  Main Area and Open Discussion / General Software Discussion / Re: 'logging off' & 'shutting down' on: December 27, 2013, 12:50:51 AM
after much searching I came across this:

Quote
As Windows 7 shuts down the computer you will see two messages. Logging Off and then Shutting Down. Logging Off means it is disconnecting from the current user account. In general Logging Off means to disconnect from something, such as a User Account or Internet Account. Logging On means the reverse; To connect to something. For more information read the Log Off/On section. Once Windows 7 has logged you off (signed you out) it then saves your current computer settings and personal (desktop) settings before actually turning off (shutting down) the computer.

it came from this site

I hope this helps

thanks lanux.  so do all img tags show up behind a button?

Sorry, I am just having a hard time wrapping my head around all this.   embarassed
21  Special User Sections / N.A.N.Y. 2013 / Re: NANY 2013 Release: sImgurUploader on: December 26, 2013, 08:02:42 PM
If you have both tags on the same page referring to the same photo, won't both show the same photo or image?
22  Special User Sections / N.A.N.Y. 2013 / Re: NANY 2013 Release: sImgurUploader on: December 26, 2013, 08:00:40 PM
Forgive me skier but coding is like learning a foreign language!   cheesy

Doesn't both tags do the same thing?
23  Special User Sections / N.A.N.Y. 2013 / Re: NANY 2013 Release: sImgurUploader on: December 26, 2013, 07:54:42 PM
So I guess according to google that "img" is short for image.  Wasn't aware there was one.
24  Special User Sections / N.A.N.Y. 2013 / Re: NANY 2013 Release: sImgurUploader on: December 26, 2013, 07:52:21 PM
I still don't understand the difference?  Are both tags the same thing?

Do they look the same?
25  Special User Sections / N.A.N.Y. 2013 / Re: NANY 2013 Release: sImgurUploader on: December 26, 2013, 07:28:06 PM
Awesome thanks for adding this Skwire smiley
Unfortunately, mine seems to be adding "URL" tags rather than "IMG" tags!   cheesy

Note to others: The INI is not in the Screenshot Captor/Tools folder, it's in the App Data Folder..  Such as C:\Users\<my name>\AppData\Roaming\Skwire Empire\sImgurUploader

What's the difference between "img" tag and "url" tag?
