We have one of the older Phasers at one of our schools.  makes a nice copy but its expensive to operate.  The maintenance kit gets replaced every 40k pages.  Have problems with the control panel display too.

7  Main Area and Open Discussion / General Software Discussion / screenshots when not logged into computer on: August 17, 2014, 01:44:17 PM
This has probably been around the block a time or two, so here goes another round.

I am needing to make a tutorial on how to log into a domain on win 7 and also to change users.  I have googled this but apparently do not have the right keywords to find what I want.

It can either be a "screenshot utility" or one that makes a movie. Whatever it is, it needs to be able to record when no one is logged into the computer.

lookin for advice  cheesy

13  Main Area and Open Discussion / Living Room / Re: FCC ruling on ringtones is... shortsighted on: June 25, 2014, 05:40:40 AM
If you click the link in the OP, there are more links at the top of the page. those first two are what we get out here in west central Kansas(rural).  Its a big problem for us because our school uses a alert system to notify parents of no school, etc..  Those telcos using a 3rd party to deliver the message do not want to pay for access to our telco.  hence the call gets dropped.  Angry

Deozaan, they are the muffler on a car.  but they are not stock mufflers.  Glass packs are usually a little louder that stock.  If done correctly they will have that sweet rumble sound and cackle when you back off the throttle.

What SeraphimLabs is talking about is your 4 and 6 cylinders sound like a buzz or sometime a sewing machine.

And then you have those, usually pickups that are just LOUD and sound horrible.  Sad

Sorry for the hijack  embarassed

Glass packs?  I haven't heard that term in a long time.  Also known as Cherry Bombs or Smittys.   tongue
16  Main Area and Open Discussion / Living Room / Nexus 7 and wireless charging on: June 14, 2014, 06:28:59 AM
I was looking at the Nexus 7 in WalMart yesterday.  They said it had wireless charging.  I had not heard of that before.
Does it really work?  Can I still charge it via a wired connection?
17  Main Area and Open Discussion / Living Room / using OpenDNS or other free dns servers on: June 11, 2014, 05:57:10 AM
I would like to use a "safe dns service" like OpenDNS, SafeDNS or Comodo Secure DNS.  I am in the United States.

they state for the best service is to add their ip addresses to my router.  Usually they come with some kind of dashboard.  If the service is in the router, how will the dashboard work?

by using their ip's without an account, will I still get safe browsing against the porn sites and other similar sites?

thanks,
dave

21  Main Area and Open Discussion / Living Room / Re: ImgBurn - full of OpenCandy and other crap on: April 28, 2014, 05:19:04 PM
After reading the links that HamRadio posted, I have to wonder if the author of ImgBurn has even tried to download his own product to see what it actually does.  I don't know enough about Open Candy to know if it is "harmful" or not.  But I do know that Conduit and the other crapware can be extremely difficult to remove totally.

And how can the author deny the claims that all these people are making about his install routine.  "Where there is smoke, there is fire"   tongue  Maybe he should listen a little closer and check things out instead of arguing with everybody about all the "opt outs" that are there.

<rant done>

why not use the chat feature to ask them if now is ok that is built into VNC after you have remoted in?
23  Main Area and Open Discussion / Living Room / Re: ImgBurn - full of OpenCandy and other crap on: April 25, 2014, 05:57:50 AM
I just last week downloaded the current version of ImgBurn from their servers.  I deselected the Conduit stuff.  I have noticed a problem with that machine but I better double check it to make sure.

As Carol said, this will be a deal killer for me too if they continue to add known malware to their installer.  Its bad enough that we have to put up with Open Candy.   Sad

Hmmm.  I will have to check it out.  Thanks Shades.
25  Main Area and Open Discussion / General Software Discussion / Re: Scary Driveby Attack / Mysterious failure / Other on: April 18, 2014, 10:11:34 AM
is there any kind of a third party program that will "record" or "log" the efforts of chkdsk when it runs.  Sometimes those scans can take a really long time and it would be nice to know what if found if I am not around before it reboots.   Sad  I try to run these at night anyway.

I have also looked in the Event Viewer logs but it doesn't record anything there.
